Hi all. This is our new thread for those who have been and may still be shielding. We will carry posting regardless of whether or not we are in lockdown.
Jeeves is in the kitchen opening the bubbly.
I have plumped up all the cushions in our new abode and look forward to welcoming old and new friends. Feel free to join in.

Panache so sorry. Hope you’re ok. Yes I think you need to get that arm checked out straight away.
Keep safe yourself and come back soon.

Grammaretto you did a wonderful job last night. Never had so many toasts ?..........perhaps that’s why we can’t remember much ?

Panache Sun 11-Oct-20 14:08:38

The morning after the most amazing night and it looks as if you have all had a whale of a time, obviously very norty at times, thats my gals all over! and hopefully a birthday our Norstat will remember.

So very sorry to have missed out but it was not to be.
Am off to A & E as I have had ongoing problems since yesterday afternoo and now one arm is both very painful and very swollen........right next to the breast wound.

However I hope to reread and enjoy all your shenanikins on my ret urn..................Be good and I doubt any one will be fully "on board" till tomorrow!!!!
KEEP SAFE.

Grammaretto Sun 11-Oct-20 12:59:45

What a night indeed. I woke with a very sore head and no memory at all. Are you quite sure my shouts toasts could be heard the other side of London? I'm normally so restrained

I'm glad the hall was well insured...
Also glad everyone got home in one piece.
see you later when I've woken up sobered up

Doodle Sun 11-Oct-20 10:26:48

Oooh my head ? What a fantastic night (from what I can remember ?) Nortsat that was some party. You looked stunning bursting out of the cake like that. ?
Thank you Bradfordlass I thought the duet with Dragonfly went well too. You looked lovely in that Indian dress. Jeeves couldn’t take his eyes off you.
Cherry did an amazing job of comparing the whole evening and organising the various performances. How lovely for you to have brought us all flowers.?
Grammaretto Your toasts were excellent. My neighbour heard them from miles away and your dress was fabulous.
Missedout I must say I have never seen anyone down 10 bottles of bubbly like that before, especially with one hand in a very glamorous silver sling.
Mamissimo what can I say. The star of the show. I never knew you could dance like that and the castanets were clacking at such speed. The beans and chutney certainly gave us all stamina for the night.
Dragonfly I wondered where you went to after our duet. Now I know. That conductor had his eye on you right from the beginning. ?
Panache it was probably wise of you to rest at home. I hope you enjoyed the nibbles and bubbly that Jeeves left outside your door.
Fantastic party Nortsat hope you enjoyed your birthday.
Mamissimo great another party to look forward too. ?
I’m off to take James Bond for a walk. He keeps trying to talk like Sean Connery .....the names Bond, James Bond.. ?

Mamissimo Sun 11-Oct-20 09:55:17

I need to please the gods today as they are demanding penance. I shall empty the HotBin and take down the rubber beans.....they've had their day! Mr M rather fancies a Lemon Meringue pie - making that is utter penitence....but....

It's my birthday in a few weeks and I rather fancy a soirée - maybe karaoke which I've never tried...now what to murdersing....

dragonfly46 Sun 11-Oct-20 09:06:55

Oh dear I have been rumbled!
The conductor was rather dishy - don’t anyone tell my DH - nothing happened honest.
Bit of a sore head this morning but worth it - it was lots of fun.

Nortsat Sun 11-Oct-20 09:00:46

Good morning gangsters, I trust we all slept well.

I have had an email from Cadogan Hall ... something about castanets and whether Mammissimo has the Conductors glasses?
Apparently the bill for the repairs to the plasterwork, after the Glamorous Gangster Soloists, ‘brought the house down’ is covered by their Public Liability Insurance. Though they don't indicate which one of us was the public liability.
I hope Doodle and James Bond got home safely ...
Dragonfly ... a tambourine and an iridescent silk shawl were found on the back seat of the band’s coach ...
The double bass player promised me that he’d give Missedout a lift home in his Jaguar xJ6, but that it might be a bit of a squash ... given the size of his instrument.
The RSC will be in touch with Cherry next week but I thought Dame Judi was unnecessarily ungracious about Cherry’s triumph...
I had a slight misunderstanding with the Lord Mayor, Grammaretto, it seems the vacancy at the Mansion House is not for an after dinner speaker ... but a Town Crier...
Bradfordlass I will thank you to remain silent about me, Jeeves and the cream frosting... Your chaise longue will be delivered back to you on Tuesday ...only one of the gilt cherub finials is missing.

I thank you all for a lovely virtual birthday party ... and normal thread service will resume today ?

BradfordLass73 Sun 11-Oct-20 00:35:56

My goodness, what a night!

As soon as that Dvorak started, Jeeves pulled me onto the floor (settle down!) to dance. He thought it was jive time but I ricked me back so had to sit out quietly and watch you all.
I must say Doodle's triangle and dragonfly's tambourine went extremely well with the wild music.

Mamissimo my whole opinion of you has undergone change - I thought you were such a quait, refained lady but I see you're a bit of a raver. grin

Nortsat Jumping out of that cake was the pièce de résistance, quite magnificent, except when Jeeves offered to lick the cream frosting off your legs. Naughty boy.

Gramaretto you did a stirling job with the toast, you even remembered mine was gluten free and the rubber bean spread was...quite...er...tasty with the chutney.

Doodle that quilt is truly a work of art and the concept very moving. You're such a talented lady.
I'm putting the picture in my journal, along with a complete account of tonight's jollifications (just in case Cadogan Hall decides to sue). grin

Nortsat This was an inspired idea; I think we all needed something happy and uplifting and this will be a birthday to remember and no mistake. Thank you. flowers

Doodle Sun 11-Oct-20 00:06:09

Night night all. Sleep well. Jeeves is about to magic us all back to our own beds for a good night’s sleep. Now all I need to do is find out where Miss Moneypenny has taken my dear man and rescue him before M sends him off on some 007 mission. ?

Doodle Sat 10-Oct-20 23:51:58

I doubt Cadogan Hall has ever seen the likes of the gangsters performance before Nortsat. An experience they won’t forget I think. We’ve had a great night tonight, thank you. I think I might have over indulged a little, either that or the orchestra is really floating round the room ? and Missedout seems to be following them ?

Nortsat Sat 10-Oct-20 23:43:59

... yes ... I think you did ...
... and that double bass player had a doubtful look in his eye ...

Missedout Sat 10-Oct-20 23:41:22

Oh dear, I didn't stomp with the whole string section, did I?

Hope you had a great birthday Norstat

Doodle Sat 10-Oct-20 23:38:12

It will take Mamissimo a long time to live that one down ?

Doodle Sat 10-Oct-20 23:37:43

Shertanly can Missedout ..budge up cherry .....?

Nortsat Sat 10-Oct-20 23:36:09

Don’t mention the castanets...

Missedout Sat 10-Oct-20 23:34:51

I heard that a set of castanets have been found in the conductor's changing room. Hmmmh

What a night - are there any rubber beans left? Can I share your shawl pleash ladies.

Doodle Sat 10-Oct-20 23:33:36

Oh crumbs, Nortsats here. Quick cherry get the orchestra to play Happy Birthday. Come on gangsters gather round.

? Happy birthday to you, happy birthday to you, happy birthday dear Nortsat, happy birthday to you. ?
Cheers ?
What a night.

Doodle Sat 10-Oct-20 23:30:10

Well if you’re comfy cherry we could bed down here. Do you think the orchestra could play us some lullabies and Jeeves will you go and make some hot chocolate please.
It has been a good night Mamissimo. Please be careful going down those steps, you look a little unsteady on your feet if you don’t mind me saying. ?
Get comfy on that soft Grammaretto . I’m going to dim the lights now. It’s quite peaceful here.

Nortsat Sat 10-Oct-20 23:27:36

Oh my the Glamorous Gangster Soloists, brought the house down, but the encore lost a bit of decorum ...
Doodle’s triangle interpretation was stunning...
Bradfordlass’ ‘Lad of Lovely Hair’ was lovely ...
Dragonfly’s gown was a show stopper: a magnificent vision of purple and green iridescence ... Her moving performance of Fourth Movement of Dvorak's String Quartet in F major on the tambourine, will stay in our memories for many years.
Missedout’s sparking face mask was my best gift, I’m still wearing it. However, her stomp was a sight to behold and caused a riot, with the entire violin section of the String Ensemble, far too interested in joining in with her ...
Cherry’s announcements, performed on a theme of Shakespeare’s Comedies, with quick costume changes, were filmed and will be previewed at the National Theatre next week. Her Merrie Wives of Windsor, possibly being the highlight of the evening.
Grammaretto’s toasts were a triumph. The Lord Mayor of London was passing Cadogan Hall, he observed her and asked me for her phone number. I don’t know if she’s free to fill in at Mansion House next month.
Mr Doodle, was mistaken for the new James Bond, in his tux, was led away by Ms Moneypenny and hasn’t been seen since ...
Truthfully, I think the less we say about Mammissimo’s incident with her castanets and her stays, the conductors glasses and Jeeves intervention ... the better. She was the Boudicca of Cadogan Hall and her high kicks will never be bettered...

I will burst out of the birthday cake, in a minute ... but first I will thank all the gangsters for your good wishes, your friendship, your kindness and for the nicest possible birthday. ?????

Doodle Sat 10-Oct-20 23:25:32

Well I hope Nortsat had a good time tonight whatever she was doing. There’s so much food left I’m packing it up to take back for us to snack on tomorrow and lots of bottles of bubbly too. Jeeves is packing up his cake to take back so we can have that too.
I’m going to go round and find all the missing shoes ....and corsets Mamissimo ?. Jeeves is getting ready to carry all the sleepy ones back to the minibus.

CherryCezzy Sat 10-Oct-20 23:22:32

Wasn't it the happy birthday Mr President thing that Marilyn Monroe did?? It's a bit late in the day to think ?. Jeeves has just dragged a couple of sofas over to sleep on. It'll be a lot comfier Grammaretto. I've bagged the blue one night all ?

Mamissimo Sat 10-Oct-20 23:22:03

'Sbeen a good night. Can I offer anyone a lift? Mr M loves a long drive.....

Grammaretto Sat 10-Oct-20 23:14:33

What stamina you have Doodle
I'm drooping now. How did the toasts go? A pity the birthday girl didn't put in an appearance. I hope its ok to curl up on the floor. Can you pass me that shawl please Jeeves. Yawn!

Doodle Sat 10-Oct-20 23:03:54

I’ll hang on for a bit, just to keep an eye on Jeeves you understand. ?
It’s been a fun evening ..........I wonder if Nortsat will arrive later and burst out of a birthday cake. Who was that, was it Marilyn Monroe?
grammaretto I’m feeling a bit peckish again now is there any chutney left?

CherryCezzy Sat 10-Oct-20 22:59:20

Sleep tight dragonfly, someone might wake you but it's unlikely to be me as it's not far off ? for me either.
