Another American died of Covid on an AA flight. They don't care do they ?

EllanVannin Mon 21-Dec-20 15:44:14

My D is in the Northern Beaches area with her family close by.
D emailed me to say it was an American national who hadn't abided by the rules, as police traced him. He didn't bother with quarantine coming from the States.
Now it's left me worried for the family after the area had been more or less free from Covid.

I have a friend in New South Wales who says they are completely isolated from all other Australian states because of this 2nd strain.

But it's too late - someone who was on a flight from NSW to Queensland tested positive according to ABC news

The reason we’re so stressed as a country is that we know perfectly well that this is just a trial run for the mess that’s going to happen in January. Supermarkets and agriculture have all warned about a shortage of fresh food. I grabbed a few extra bags of frozen carrots and broccoli for the Brexit freezer today, but on the whole the gradually stockpiling plan has us sorted for the first few months of 2021.

Casdon Mon 21-Dec-20 15:02:07

Aepgirl there are 83 recorded cases in the Sydney outbreak, caused allegedly by a tourist breaking quarantine. They are red hot in Australia at minimising the spread, that’s why they’ve locked the borders - there’s no reported evidence that it’s the new strain as far as I can find, so it’s a very different scenario. My sister’s in Perth, and she told me that the WA borders have been locked down since March until very recently, and now again, that’s their way of managing it (very effectively).

Sorry ignore the quote. I was going to reply, then decided it wasn’t worth the effort.

It seems that the penny has finally dropped. We have very little push back from posters denying reality and claiming project fear.

Be nice to welcome them back into the reality fold?

Do stop claiming ‘It’s Brexit!’ whitewave, I credit you with more intelligence than that.

Yet Another press conference today. More listening to “um er”

I assume he won’t announce no deal as it would compound panic upon panic, misery upon misery.

The EU is supposed to be having a meeting this afternoon to decide something.

Actually lemon this is Brexit, but with bells on because of covid. This is what will be happening at Dover, even after the current backlog of drivers have given up/had their vaccine or whatever. The RHA have warned about this since summer 2016 and some of you, and the Tory administration have chosen to disregard the warnings. The flooded lorry parks were started well before this current scare about the new virulent strain of covid.

lemongrove Mon 21-Dec-20 14:35:44

I don’t blame countries for stopping entries at their borders or stopping flights because of the new mutated virus.
France will soon have to put something in place though as most of the lorries waiting in Dover are from France or EU countries wanting to get home.

Is Russia in the EU now growstuff !

No, but but part of it is in Europe. I was just pointing out the European countries which helped the Allied war effort (and was scratching my head somewhat and was desperate).

This country's obsession with the war by those who had nothing to do with it is beyond detrimental to this country.

Don't forget 1966!

145 Polish pilots flew in the RAF ... and then there was Russia.

Sweetchile

While you're all selfishly wondering how you're going to live without a lettuce for Christmas . . What about the lorry drivers????
Think how you would feel stuck in a lorry no toilet facilities no food or water unable to keep warm as you could run out of fuel.

The government is guilty of gross mismanagement.

They were warned 4YEARS ago.

They have managed to build a couple of lorry parks on flood plains, neither of which are Up and running. and in any case spend a lot time acting as swimming pools.

None of the software for customs and border control is ready and not expected to be ready for months.

Anyone else would be let go by their employer, but we have 4 more dreadful years to watch as this country falls apart under the most incompetent set of apologise for ministers it has ever been this countries misfortune to witness.
