Since it’s the French Government who have caused this debacle....let them sort it out.

I really think as a trial run for Brexit queues this shows we’re not really ready.

Pleased I’m not a farmer with fields bordering the motorway

growstuff did anyone say there were four stranded? It was the same four ( usually one in fact) that were being interviewed for the news channels.

So I take it you didn’t see the local news from the SE?

I don’t do hate.
I do blame the French government for the chaos in Dover. I do wonder why the French government have done nothing to help their nationals.
I do believe that Macron dislikes the English and likes to throw his weight about. I don’t know him personally so this is a wild assumption in the same way as the Boris Bashers make wild assumptions based on their own prejudice.

Or maybe like the other 40 odd countries that have restricted access to those from the U.K. he has concerns about the spread of the new variant

The point is the government knows that there are going to be huge tailbacks after 1st January, otherwise why on earth would they put the holding facilities in place? But there are no toilets etc.

It is an absolute shambles, just as so much this government attempts to do turns out.

Volunteers at the Guru Nanak Darbar in Gravesend have been making curry and pasta and delivering it to lorry drivers all day. They've made 800 meals so far today.

I wonder why they made 800 meals, if only four drivers are stranded! hmm

They’re going to need toilets if 4 drivers ate 800 curries grin

There are not hundreds being interviewed!

Did you watch SE today this evening? If so I am not sure what you saw.

What I saw was lots of people stranded with no facilities, confirmed by the interviewers and hundreds of truck drivers protesting to the police.

Anyone blame Macron? No, thought not.....easier always for some posters to blame their own government ( simply because they are doing a bit of political point scoring) they are sadly deluded in this case.

Don’t be ridiculous - British queues on British soil are our responsibility. It’s not up to Macron to provide toilets

We have an army who could conjure up loos etc. Or events companies who have had bugger all work this year who I am sure would be delighted to Chuck up portaloos etc.

Given that Brexit predicts queues like this I would have hoped we’d be a bit more ready tbh

Well done Poland, looking after their stranded nationals.
Have the French done anything to help their own, oh no I forgot it’s the French who are stopping them getting home.

Oh is this a hate the French thread?

I think the British are a bit more missing than the French tbh.

Your concerns for the EU drivers is touching......if only Macron felt the same eh?
How, pray do we conjure up hundreds of loos and hot meals for them? If only he had worried about it before closing France’s borders.
However, am sure the authorities and the charities are doing sterling work with sandwiches and drinks where they need to.
Highly doubtful that drivers of long distance lorries set off without so much as a choccy bar.

One or two drivers become four drivers.

Wow! That's exponential growth!

For goodness sake lemongrove, there are hundreds of them.

The same four?

Perhaps the drone shots of miles of lorries nowhere near facilities were mocked up from Tonka toys in someone’s front room just to make us think Boris is a bit shit.

??

Nezumi65 Tue 22-Dec-20 20:54:19

I can certainly see why the red bus was so successful grin

Did you spot any red buses?

Nezumi65 Tue 22-Dec-20 20:49:11

I see that as well as the Sikh charity the Polish embassy are now distributing food & water as well.

Whitewavemark2 Tue 22-Dec-20 20:47:49

If you lived in the South East you would see much more on the local news. For more than the same 4 people you are suggesting. In fact there were several hundred protesting to the police, There has been nothing to suggest that there is the infrastructure for the lorry drivers, which is astounding given the fact that the government has prepared miles of motor way, airfields and built 2 huge swimming pools. One would expect there to be facilities etc. But there is no evidence.
