A Zoom cocktail hour sounds great Mamissimo.
Great excitement here this afternoon. We got a call from the GP saying they had two vaccines over and could we get there in 20 minutes. You bet! We have now both had the jab!

(1001 Posts)Welcome to our new home.
Extra comfy sofas and chairs.
A handsome butler ....well Jeeves ?
All the hot chocolate you can drink
And the most important thing, the company of good friends
Bang the gong and blow the trumpets.....I've got my jab appointment next week ?
Grammaretto I've been buying bare root strawberry plants by post...I think Marshall's and Dobies still have some? I've planed up a felt strawberry pot which comfortably took 10 plants.....top tip if you do it.....put it where you want it to grown and don't try to lift it after you've watered them in! ?
We've booked an online escape room to do with the family in household teams on Zoom. Being cocky wrinklies worldly wise, we've picked an advanced one based on getting drunk and loosing all your belongings at a rock festival. Mr M and I have never been to a festival but we figured we would learn a lot about our ADC! Our nibbles will be a crate of Maltesers and a crate of brown ale a glass or two of something nice. We're looking forwards to it.
We should have a Zoom cocktail hour one day when we've been able to have a haircut, lost weight, lost our convict palour and feel on top of the world ??
Happy Friday!
Afternoon. Usual, predictable kindness and warmth from the Indomitable Ones! I only speak as I find.
I will stick around, thank you so much, not post very often but certainly keep up with all your doings. I'm so glad you agree, Kaimoana , about the makings of a book here. I don't know about the editing....there's something about any humdrummy bits which somehow adds to the atmosphere and unreal situation in which we all find ourselves. Anyway, it's all super, I love it, long may you all find the energy reserves to keep informing and entertaining each other - and probably loads of others like me reading in the shadows.
Stay safe all of you. Keep going and don't ever forget how important you are. Hugs from French France as always xx
Jan sorry to hear about your DH. You may remember I had some catheter problems with my DH when he came home from hospital but that was just for a short while. It must be difficult to cope with for both of you on a long term basis.
I hope he gets the antibiotics soon and starts to pickup.
I was going to ask you, when you had your vaccinations, did you get a card or anything that said you’d had them done?
I’m off to try and finish my video for my DGD. Hope everyone has a good day. ?
Morning all.
Bright and sunny here today. Hope it stays that way for DGDs birthday, not that she’s going anywhere ?
Kaimoana that painting of me learning my accounts is quite accurate. A lot of head in hands moments ?
I hope Hanna has caught on about your eating habits. I wonder what your next meal out will be like ?
dragonfly you were up early. Good your DH is getting his vaccination. We still haven’t heard yet. You are too young, how lovely to be told that. Hope you got back to sleep.
Grammaretto I love your rabbiting on, please continue ?
It is our thread not mine although the thought of me as gangmaster made me laugh........”Get to it, you lot keep posting, no more hot chocolate until you finished your quota of posts for today ?”
What seeds are you getting for yourself?
I like the idea of your DD asking for strawberries.
If it were me, I’d ask you for a cow as well so we could have strawberries and cream all summer, ? ?........have you got room in your garden??
Hi All. Thanks for the birthday wishes and cake! Have to say it was one of the most boring birthdays ever! Lots of on line messages and cards but obviously no visitors or meals out!
Plus DH wasn’t too good. Had a operation - won’t bore you with the details - last May which left him with a permanent catheter not to mention pneumonia and clots on the lungs. So this catheter causes umpteen problems every so often. Now waiting for Dr to ring to presumably prescribe more antibiotics. Really shouldn’t complain as others have much worse problems. On the plus side it’s a beautiful sunny day in Norfolk with wall to wall blue sky but it’s very cold. Take care everyone
Hello Lobstars,
I love that you are too young for the vaccine Dragonfly. Maybe that's why I haven't heard anything apart from a circular from the Scottish Government to say they intend to get all over 70s done by the end of Feb. What with that and my dental appointment.
Wishing our lives away again!
Poor Hanna. Maybe she just doesn't know enough about food? Like sex, puberty and the important things in life, you aren't tort them at school. at least not where I went and parents are notoriously lacking in teaching skills.
I felt really sorry for a woman interviewed on the news who said she couldn't help her kids at all with their online school.
I am rabbiting on here. Please feel free to skip.
I asked DGD online what seeds she wanted me to get for her garden. What do you like to eat? No hesitation "Strawberries!" not grown from seed but I daresay I can find her some runners.
Thanks for your nice post Grandmafrench. You are always welcome. It's Doodle's thread department but she is also very kind and inclusive not a horrid gangmaster at all
.
I joined when we were first shielded but since DH died in November I am an unofficial ancient rights? member of this gang.
Sending love to the Panaches the Tiggers and all of you today.
Good morning - wide awake which is unusual for me. I woke up and thought it was morning!
Hope you had a lovely birthday Jan.
Great news that MiL is home Grammaretto. UTI’s cause such problems late in life.
I hope Hanna has finally got the message Kaimoana. Time will tell. That’s a great picture of you.
We had great excitement this morning as my DH got a call with an appointment for the vaccine on Tuesday. The receptionist at the GP’s said she tried to get one for me but I am too young. It’s a long time since someone told me that!
Will have another go at sleeping now,
Mamissimo as always tu es très drôle.
Doodle the thought of poor Cherry being catapulted into space made me laugh. Sorry Cherry
Grandmafrench, please stay - you don't need to post although it would be nice to get to know you
I've often thought we could make a book of it, with a great deal of editing but I'm happy to volunteer as that used to be my job.
Muse welcome to the gang. I'm not shielding either. Although unless I'm at a restaurants with a mad elderly Korean who forces me eat despicable things, I'm more or less confined to the house at the moment so force-feeding is a welcome relief
~*~ HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY JAN ~*~
Good news about your dear Mil Grammaretto
The picture is Doodle in best Sunday go-to-meeting garb, poring over her accounts. Note the expression of unbridled joy and enthusiasm.
And the other is Gubbins.
Actually, they're both by Mary Cassatt.
I think I have finally made Hanna understand I don't eat complex carbs - via the letter in Korean.
We are going to have another try at eating out together but not on a day she's supposed to be working.
She's actually looking quite tired.
A quiet and solitary weekend ahead for me (so what's new?) but I'm wishing you all a peaceful one, in other words...kia whai katoa koutou ra pai.
Jan sorry it’s so late but Many Happy Returns ???
Hope you had a good day. Did you have a birthday cake.......any left.....?
Mamissimo so you get woken by bird song. I expect that’s a bit gentler than our waking with the geese. Don’t know what they find to talk to each other about that early in the morning.?
Grammaretto pleased to hear your MIL is home. Hope she starts to improve now.
Sleep well gangsters.
I'm pleased that your DMiL is home now Grammaretto ?
Hope you've had a lovely birthday Jan. Late in the day but I've brought you a
and a small tipple ?. I don't drink but any time of day is a good time for cake so have a slice of this one for the morning ? too ?
Jan
Happy birthday to you
Squashed tomatoes and poo
Bread and butter in the gutter
Happy birthday to you.
Only kidding no poo on your birthday unless you’re on nappy duty. ??
MiL is home. Hooray. DS collected her and although a bit confused at first who is this strange man in a mask she gradually became her usual self on the journey home. I shall join you for a glass Jan!
Sláinte
Grammaretto. Just started on the wine! Hope your MiL is improving - bless her!
Happy Birthday Jan.
I hope you are managing to have a nice day. Something special to eat or drink?
Happy Birthday Jan! ?
Tu es tres gentile, Grandmafrench (pardoner moi, le accent grave 'ave hidden himself aux dessou le clef planche! ) ?
Life continues today - Wisteria pruned to an inch if it's life, revealing what we suspected - a large birds nest plonkedplumb centre immediately below our bedroom window. The little brown jobs woke us early every morning last summer....and will probably do so again in a couple of months.
Grammaretto that's a relief! UTI - or utterly troublesome irritations as they are known here, can cause so much trouble as you get older. My DM's GP had her on prophylactic robotics for about five years to try to keep them under control. I'm not sure whether that's wise but it helped her somewhat.
I read everything because I'm nosey worried I'll put my foot in it later. My DF always maintained that I never fully engaged my brain before opening my mouth. He was probably right.
Today's scores are jigsaw pieces 0, mouses caught by Fergal 1.....mouses eaten by Beagle 1 ? don't get me started on what Mr M has eaten - he's bored!
Thank you Doodle.
Spent hours last night reading quite a few threads. I'm not shielding so will check out those two.
Hi All. Well it’s my birthday today but it’s just like any other day in lockdown! Both my daughters sent flowers so took quite a bit of time sorting those out. They are lovely though! Three people turned up on the doorstep with birthday cards almost at the same time! Obviously none of them could come in otherwise we could have had a party!
Hope all those who are feeling poorly are a bit better today and to those who are lonely or sad - Spring is on its way!
Hi Muse. We are a group of people who are classed as shielding due to health issues. The thread started at the first lockdown and has continued ever since. When a thread reaches 1000 posts you have to start a new one. This thread is number 4 I think hence the “new home” as we have moved from thread three to thread four.
Welcome to GN. If you are looking for some threads there is The Good Morning thread which starts a new every day. soop’s kitchen which is an ongoing thread of just people chatting. I hope you joy getting to know people. ?
Hi Grandmafrench that’s a lovely post. You are more than welcome to pop in whenever you like. I agree the lobster gangsters are a wonderful bunch and have so much to deal with. I am in awe of their humour, kindness and caring in the face of great difficulties and sadness.
Like you I am not shielding, it is my DH who is.
Lovely to see you here. Hope the ankle is getting better. ?
Hi. New to GN. Can someone tell me the background of this thread? New home puzzled me.
Thank you.
Hello all.
Yes Kaimoana I totally agree with you over not trying to catch up with all the posts.
I would hate for people to feel they couldn’t post because they might offend someone by leaving something out.
All are welcome. Post what you wish when you feel like doing so and as I said to Missedout if you just want to sit in a cosy chair in the corner and be waited on by Jeeves, that’s fine too ?
Lovely photo of you and Anna, Kaimoana and yes I did spot your broach. You meal doesn’t look appetising but I bet the conversation made up for it. Your friend obviously has an interesting job at the moment.
My goodness, don’t get our cherry on that thing, she could get flung into outer space with that ?
Mamissimo you’ve got a busy day lined up.
Buying a house is no easy business. So much to it. Do you know when the sale is going through?
Hope your wisteria is nicely pruned now and looking glamorous ?. Do you think if I pop over your young men would give me a quick trim, my hair is becoming more witch like every day ?
Nortsat we are deeply honoured with the presence of all 3 molls today (nothing much on the TV I assume ?)
DGD is most certainly loved but her presents are a long way off. Just heard this morning that a bag I bought for her arrived in this country then was sent back by DPD because it didn’t have the right paperwork (Brexit) it is now on it’s way back here again so goodness knows when she’ll get it. Second present (from this country) delayed because sender ran out of stock and the new delivery is only arriving with him today.
If Waitrose don’t deliver the cake and chocolates I’ve ordered I don’t know what I will do. I am making a small video for her from past years when she was much younger. I hope that will make her laugh if nothing else.
I gather HMRC are still causing you problems . Hope you get it resolved soon.
Grammaretto my mother also had what they thought was a stroke which turned out to be a UTI too. It does really mimic the effects of stroke. Hope that means your MiL we be allowed home soon.
I think you are wise to get a solicitor to help out.
That’s naughty putting off your Gaelic homework. You may have to go and stand in the corner ?
I have enough trouble with English let alone anything else.
Panache how are you and MrP today.
If you get cross do you rant and rave in English or Welsh.
My dear SILs English was excellent but she always maintained that for a good rant she would revert to her natural Danish as it sounded better.
Lovely post Grandmafrench ... how kind ?
I can’t speak for the others but I think you would make a fine addition to the Indomitables.
