So now we want the army on the streets, and identity cards?
This is really getting out of hand. What would be the limit? Why not go the whole way and get those individual GPS trackers the conspiracy theorists are always talking about.

Coronavirus
For everyone who's bending the rules!
(333 Posts)Yes - you know who you are. There are so many NHS staff off sick right now - don't expect anything like a 'normal' level of service, should you need it:

”I think just blaming other people breaking the rules is an easy way out and a way of wrapping one self in the comfort blanket of self awarded virtue.”
And who are you MONica to support the people who HAVE broken the rules, they have been seen on camera? The virus has certainly not been spread by people shielding for 9+ months - and there is nothing comforting or virtuous about it: it is a life saving measure which comes with a huge toll in the sorrow of isolation and detrimental to mental health, of which you seem ignorant. Hetty58 is absolutely right to condemn these selfish individuals, Marydoll and the NHS are suffering the consequences. The fact that the virus is now more easily transmissible only goes to show that the actions of those who refuse to follow the rules are even more heinous.
please, please, please stop all these comments about covid being spread by our pets. there is absolutely no evidence to support this.
animals have enough to contend with in their short lives, over which we have complete control, without unnecessarily precipitating their fate by this scaremongering.
did none of you see the heartbreaking pictures of pets in some asian countries that were heartlessly thrown to their death from high rise apartment buildings because of such reports in the first phase of this disease?
surely we don't want this to happen again, anywhere.
Why on earth is football, rugby and other top level sport being allowed to continue in this lock down? 100s of people in very close contact and dozens of positive tests reported. It is madness to allow this to carry on whilst the rest of us are told to stay at home. All because of the money involved.
Best wishes for a speedy recovery to Marydoll
I remember reading at the very start of the pandemic that the virus enters our bodies through mucas membranes, ie, mouth, nose and eyes. Apart from people wearing masks which we have been told do not stop the virus, we have never been told that we should wear goggles. Also I see many older people and shop staff wearing a visor which is open on three sides. The only protection these give is as a spit shield. In hospitals, medical staff wear one of these but over a face mask. So if the virus is spreading quickly, maybe those who think they are protected are equally at fault.
It sounds like you are in denial. We have all seen people breaking -or worse, "stretching" the rules, because after all, "they're really not that important". It is imperative that each one of us acts as if we ourselves might have the virus and don't want to risk spreading it to anyone else
Get well soon Marydoll!
My elderly mother currently in hospital was due to be discharged last week to go to a nursing home. She was tested for Covid last Sunday and Monday the test came back positive. Soon as they knew I was told they woukd be sending her to quarantine in an assessment care home several miles away. I asked why but was told to quarantine. So far no bed available n she remains in a Covid ward at hospital. I can’t understand why with Covid going into a care home to quarantine. My DF died in a care hone in April while staying for respite care.
Marydoll, how are you ? Get well soon !!
MOnica you will have people taking their beloved animals to be put down by saying such stupid things. People depend on their animals for company. You have nothing to back your words up so suggest you ask for your comment to be deleted!
The only two people I know to have caught Covid both caught it in hospital. Both have since died. They do not seem to be prioritising front line NHS staff. That seems idiotic to me.

Disagreeing with someone's opinion is not a good reason for their post to be deleted.
Having read M0nica's post I'm not sure it even counts as an opinion. It is a wondering, a questioning, an exploration of possibilities based on limited information — an idea, as the writer of it says.
Not liking an idea because it makes you feel uncomfortable doesn't mean it's a bad idea.
Which is not me saying it's a good idea either. It's an idea that might be worth investigating though.
Re precautions, I followed the ambulance to A & E last month when DH was transferred from his nursing home. When I was finally admitted by a nurse, I asked if I needed to wear an apron, gloves etc. She said that my mask was fine. He was finally admitted to a ward where he died the following morning. I sat there the whole time, still with only my mask on. I was surprised that they weren't being more cautious. I was so glad though that I was allowed to be there.
It’s not pets it’s human behaviour. I have just returned from an essential shopping trip at Marks and Spencer. I live on my own and have not been able to secure a supermarket delivery slot as yet. I was relieved to see that M&S wasn’t too busy. I had made a list in advance so that I could get in and out as quickly as possible. Going round I noticed a family of four, parents and two mid to late teens. They were leisurely strolling round. It was clearly an excuse for a Sunday family afternoon outing. I’m pleased that I had a long walk home with heavy shopping because I feel really angry when I think about the NHS.
The only two people I know who caught Covid did so from their grandchildren, who incidentally showed no symptoms. We were all very surprised as they don’t go out, not even for walks. Luckily they made a complete recovery even though they are in their 80s.
I think just blaming other people breaking the rules is an easy way out and a way of wrapping one self in the comfort blanket of self awarded virtue.
Monica, I can assure you that I'm certainly not guilty of the above. I personally find your remark judgemental and offensive.
My main aim is to stay alive, until we get out of this pandemic, and will do what it takes, even if it has meant shielding since March.
I have been advised that If I catch Covid, I will most certainly die. Rescusitation or ICU will not be an option for me.
I'm a fairly stoic and resilient person and certainly not looking for any sympathy on this thread, but the fact that I will now need to have Covid tests, to make sure I haven't caught Covid in hospital has caused me some degree of anxiety.
So, when I see numbers continuing to rise daily, I ask myself, how on earth can numbers be still rising, if everyone is following ALL the rules.
Marydoll

Agree Marydoll.
Monica, if you saw Wandsworth Common yesterday, you would eat your words. I drove to take my grandson some bolognese sauce I had made for him. He lives in sheltered accommodation due to mental health issues & this was a treat for him. The sun brought out people in their droves, crowds, large groups in no way related, nobody wearing a mask. Crowded on a pavement to cross the road - I’m sorry but this was a total flagrant disregard of any ‘rules’. I was so upset & angry so how can you say people are following guidelines? They are not or this evil virus would be contained.
I think that there must be another vector involved in its rapid spread other than being more infectious and aerosol spray. We know that covid is a zoonotic disease; that Denmark slaughtered its farmed mink population after the disease was found on the farms and it has been found on occasion, in the cat population. Could this vector be an animal that has a symptomless version of the illness and can pass it to humans; cats, dogs, guinea pigs or any small animal that is handled. Just an idea
Just an idea M0nica ?
Maybe but not a very good one - unfounded, unnecessarily sensationalist, if it wasn’t such a bad pun, I would say “barking”. .
My main aim is to stay alive, until we get out of this pandemic, and will do what it takes. I am with you on this Marydoll. Anytime I have had what I regard as a risky encounter, I start counting the days. If I get past 5 days, I relax a bit.
The sun brought out people in their droves, crowds, large groups in no way related, nobody wearing a mask.
You don't have to wear a mask or face covering outdoors... Just saying.
My friend, who is a bit lax in ‘obeying the rules’ had a visit from the police last night because someone had reported that she is having too many visitors. It has really upset her, not because she bends the rules, but because a neighbour has reported her!
We live in a holiday area, police now waiting in car parks and coming down heavily on people driving 200 miles down to us for 'a nice day out'. Huge fines for all occupying the cars involved, not just the drivers - and apparently (from what they are saying now) discussions currently going on about imprisonment if people won't listen.
Whatever you think about Priti Patel, she is now backing the police trying to enforce the rules.
Very good and so fair, Baggs.
