Jab on Tuesday!

I tried the Scottish vaccine helpline yesterday and no-one could help me, because I "didn't have an appointment letter" This afternoon I braved the dragon's den and phoned the surgery, despite a pre-recorded message advising me not to call about vaccines.
I politely explained that according to the texts I had been receiving from the shielding folk, I should at least have had an appointment by now. It turned out GPs were doing some of the shielders.
The lady I spoke told she would phone me back and about ten minutes later she phoned me with a cancellation appointment for tomorrow at exactly the same time as my hospital appointment. Oh the irony of it. No hospital appointments for a year and both appointments come at the same time.
I am now going on Wednesday to my my GP surgery.
If I hadn't made a fuss, I would still be waiting. It's absolutely shocking. How many others have slipped through the net??

My mum has had her jab at last. A doctor came to the house yesterday. He said he was working all weekend, today and tomorrow, catching up with the over-80’s who should all have been done by last Friday.

Much to my surprise, I received one of the infamous blue envelopes today giving me an appt for next week. I wasn’t expecting that as the roll out plans indicated it would be mid-March onwards.

I think what the doctor meant was that it could be three weeks or up to eleven weeks depending on supply.
At least that’s what I choose to believe suziewoozie. I suppose it’s important we all remain optimistic?.

My Partner had his this morning at Millenium Point, Birmingham, He was in and out within 10 minutes. He was 70 yesterday. He arrived home, and received a phone call from our Doctors Practice to book one with them. So obviously informed them he had it that morning. He wasn't asked for his NHS number, which he did give when booking online last weekk.

I am 67, so hoping to hear soon.

??? Not what anyone wants to hear is it? My nurse just said within 12 weeks and quite frankly, for once, I’m happy to take that at face value and fill in the dots myself nearer the time as it’s still a long way off

LauraNorder had mine .. Astra Zeneca..on Saturday evening, had a bit of a restless night then yesterday had a horrendous day, headache aching vomiting. Went to bed early evening, had a decent nights sleep and feeling much better today.
OH had his same time no side effects apart from a bit of a woozy head.

For those who have had the first, you may now find you can book the second.
(Same brand, same venue, I was told when mine was done)

Orlin got his appointment for next Thursday at the local hospital for the Pfizer one.
Don’t know why we’re being offered different jabs at different venues but grateful to be done.

We seem to have caught up in Anglesey after a slow start. Had mine on Saturday morning at 9 am. The Astra Zeneca. All hunky dory until 9 pm, sudden uncontrollable shivering, headache, nausea. Slept all day Sunday. Back to normal today.

I'm 67 and got text from my GPs this morning with link to book. Appointment this Wednesday. I had tried the main nhs site before I got the text and it wouldn't let me book.

Of course there is cross referencing. That’s why they are so careful to ensure your bring your NHS number.

I don't know anyone who was asked to produce their NHS number.

Reading various posts on different threads I’m surprised at how many have had no side effects from either vaccine or some side effects from both! So if just worried about this, looks as if there’s no difference.

I had the Oxford AZ vaccine today, I have a sore arm but that’s quite usual with intramuscular injections. .All in all nothing to worry about from me.

My parents in Lancashire, both in their 70s, had their vaccinations together on Friday - Dad rang me to let me know. Both had the Pfizer vaccine, which surprised my Dad as he thought they would have run out of those by now. Neither had any side effects, barring a bit of a sore arm the day after. My husband's headache turned out to be unconnected but he also had a sore arm the next day. Reassuring that none of them had any other side effects. Roll on April(ish) when I can get mine!

The army has been brought in this week in Scotland and the numbers getting vaccinated has risen in line.

Tested your link Doodle as I'm in the next tranche for vaccination but haven't had my letter just yet. There appears to be a measure of protection against abuse (which is good) as I wasn't able to book in just yet.
DH had the AZ vaccine last Wednesday and I was just trying to get mine so we minimise travel for the 2nd one as its such a palaver to get to the hub.
The newly opened hub in Warks, was hugely under utilised, bays empty, many operators just standing around, lots of people directing. All very safe but underused.
We were phoned the same morning of DH's jab to ask did we want to come earlier....so spaces were unused? Massive rural hub and only three cars in the car park!

Methinks we could have vaccinated lot of teachers at that rural location given they're likely to able able to mobilise more rapidly than those less able.
It's troubling to hear the rollout's inequitable in parts of Scotland tho. Have the Forces been mobilised in Scotland? I have recollection of many varied and frequent vaccinations in postings abroad in the Forces. They are very efficient at those type of programmes.

Had mine this afternoon at local entertainment/leisure venue. Very organised and lots of people there to show you where to go. I was heading for the bar (closed unfortunately) for a 15 min sit-down, when a chap took my arm and guided me along. Maybe I looked a bit wobbly on my feet but he was a bit too close for comfort.
Feeling very tired now but otherwise ok. Just glad to have had it done.

Having mine tomorrow morning at a health centre 1.5 miles away. Got a text from GP surgery with a hyperlink to the vaccine website. Went online, confirmed my DoB, appointment booked. Easy Peasy if you have the right tech, but unfortunately that isn’t the case for everybody. I shall be glad to get it out of the way.
