Jab on Tuesday!

I had two notifications, one by text for my local surgery, one dose only of the Oxford vaccine and they will let me know about the second dose. Had that yesterday. Then in the post an NHS booking site but you had to go to a centre, which I ignored.
The surgery was very efficient, with about 10 people directing you. Three in the car park and at least seven inside pointing at X on the floor (stand there) and then walk to the next X and stand there. All very efficient but so many people involved!

We are in the South and haven't heard as I said. My brother in Sheffield and had his a month ago. No North South divide as I can see it.

Husband over 70 currently on chemo for stage 4 cancer but have yet to hear anything. Live in a small town “up North”. It was on news that our area was doing too well and injections have been reallocated to underachieving areas!! North South divide again no doubt.

I’ve still had no response from contacting Nicola Sturgeon.

DH and I had our first ‘jab’ this morning. Pfizer. Absolutely great organisation. SWWales

DH approaching 70 and I'm 67 - we have ours Tue 16th Feb both at the same time. - can't wait!

I'm 74 and in Central Scotland. Had mine this am at GP surgery, 3 miles away. In and out in 8 minutes - wait in car for 15 minutes and if you feel peculiar lean on the horn and someone will come immediately. So far so good, feeling fine and proud of myself as I hate jags.

I had the Oxford AZ on Thursday it was extremely well organised and quick. I’ve had no side effects although I slept for 11 hrs last night which is most unusual for me so maybe that was one.

I have mine today at 4.50. I was notified by text. I'm 68 so they must be cracking on here. The we will both be done which will please the daughters.

I had mine yesterday, just a bit warm and weary today. I had three letters! One for over 70, one for clinically extremely vulnerable, not sure why a third! But I only had one jab. The hub was excellent, with a pleasant doctor reassuring me about previous anaphylaxis, only once, reacting to a chemo drug. Very impressed.

Had a phone call from the surgery yesterday to come today for my jag. People I know are being informed by letter if they are to go to a centre or by phone call or text if the surgery are doing it.

My DH had his Astra Zeneca vaccination two days ago, and has had no side effects at all. He followed the advice he was given to take two Paracetamol every four hours for the first 24, so maybe that helped keep them at bay (or perhaps he was just lucky). The organisation ran like clockwork at the hub he used, and he was very impressed by all the staff and volunteers involved.

Reading about Europe ‘s reaction to our Oxford AZ vaccine, ‘not effective for the over ‘60’ Well I can only think of sour grapes! I’m very grateful I received it and will keep trusting our researchers and medical experts before I trust Mr Macron!

Still awaiting the call. We are 71 and 74 so must be the last on the list. Maybe they haven't got to the letter T yet as it is far down the alphabet. Getting a wee bit anxious if I am honest . Everyone else I known age has had their shot. Keep calm and carry on girl.

I’m suffering from vaccine envy . Mind you even more good news today is that the Sputnik vaccine is very good so that’s another vaccine to add to the list.

My husband had his first vaccine dose today (the oxford astrazenica) with no problems and only a short wait. So far no side effects, he does have a slight headache but had that before he had the vaccine so hopefully unconnected. Slight problem in that between us we managed to lose his vaccination card on the way home but hopefully this will not be too much of a problem. Expecting my vaccine in late April/early May (group 9) not looking forward to it (needlephobic) but its gotta be done to protect my husband. Vaccination centre was efficient with proper social distancing and mask wearing enforced, along with lots of hand sanitizer en route to the vaccination stations.

We received our letters today and getting our vaccines on 10th. I am in the shielding category but I think I got the letter because I am over 70 rather than because I am shielding. The letter says to phone the helpline if I am housebound or shielding. Just the normal helpline number 0800 030 8013. I read that inn some health board areas in Scotland GP's are doing the vaccines for the shielding people. I am just going to go for the appointment in the letter as it is at 8am in a large football park in Fife so think it should be be quite safe.

I booked in myself and DH. No mention on the link I followed about a letter although I now realise there are two “previous pages” which mention it.
We had our jabs Wednesday and got a text asking us to book today. So if we did queue jump it wasn’t by much.
There were vacant slots when we went to. The site we went to was on the news the other night saying 20% of those with a booking hadn’t turned up.
DH is shielding too. I don’t know if this is an NHS England site or whether it works in Scotland Marydoll but I would have thought you should have top priority.

My daughter hasn't been vaccinated either she has multiple health problems and has been sheilding since last february Marydoll her GP surgery says within the next two weeks ,she's in Argyll .If I could I'd give her my slot but thats not howit works ,she's quite rural so dont know if thats the problem .

Just ignore me, I'm just indulging in a spot of wallowing. My clinical team have told me they were about to start on the shielders, that was a week ago. None of their patients have been vaccinated yet. Who knows? The goalposts keep changing.

The important thing is that everyone is vaccinated eventually..

Just my opinion but there is a lot of inconsistency with the rollout. We have relatives in the North West who are 65 no health issues have been vaccinated this week as have their friends. They said their surgery was hoping to start sending for over 60s before end of month. However other parts of the country are still sending for the over 75s. Our practice has joined together with a few others and their web page says 80% of over 80s had the jab but only 60% of over 75s no mention of over 70s. The reason they give is lack of supplies. Surely NHS hq should be delivering vaccines fairly across the country.

Thanks Joy! Today just feeling a little bit more tired than usual but nothing to write home about. Well done for taking it easy today, let’s hope that’s it, but like you feel any minor discomfort is very well worth it.

Mum hasn’t actually had it yet, Marydoll so I’m not opening the champagne yet!

In some ways, my mum’s experience has been the opposite of yours. She’s housebound due to arthritis and she has high blood pressure but apart from her regular prescriptions, an annual MOT and the flu jab, she doesn’t need any contact with the surgery. It’s as though she doesn’t exist for them. ?‍♀️

I’m so sorry to hear of the lack of support for you Marydoll, and the problems that you’re mum has had Suedonim. Sometimes you do feel scared to ask, our generation hate to be a bother to anyone. Could your hospital team help, Marydoll; do you have a clinical support nurse who could advise you? I hope you get your vaccine very soon.

So had mine yesterday at the local GP surgery. Very efficiently done, advised to wait 15 minutes if driving or 5 if taken home by somebody, (had the Oxford AZ) So far so good, not sure how long before any possible headache/aches/feeling fluey, was expecting it during the night but I slept well.

I also had Oxford AZ yesterday. Today I've had a slight headache, been a bit shivery and arm's a little tender. None of these minor discomforts is much of a problem. I've used them as an excuse for a lazy day, recovering from the excitement of yesterday... a lie-in, a leisurely bath and I've even watched some daytime TV which is a rarity, so I'm not complaining! Good luck... you may not have any probs!
