Jab on Tuesday!

Where I work we have to make contact with everyone. We start with texts, then phone those without mobiles or have not responded to texts, then write to those we cannot phone.

I suppose it will depend on the individual doctor's surgeries admin.

I already know it can be abysmal at the best of times.

Having mine this afternoon at our local GP surgery! Had a call yesterday, I was expecting a letter or a text, really pleased as it is within walking distance. I was worrying about the out of town hub which would have required bus/taxi and where the older group had to go. Not sure how they would have managed unless they could drive or had family/friends/volunteers to give them a lift.

Our local surgery put out a message that anyone in the first four groups who hasn’t had the vaccination to go along this weekend. Hope you get yours soon MissA.

It was one hell of a palaver though.
I ended up with just over an hour to travel ten miles by bus in rush hour to get there! (And I still wasnt dressed yet!)

we got appointments by letter today ,next Thursday am, We're both mid 60's .Its the same community centre where we had our flu jags .

Prf Jason Leitch said that anyone over 80 who hasn't had their jag by Friday should contact their GP * SD*

There is someone's mum who hasn't had hers, and I think it's already being investigated, as there are a lot from the same area.

I’m trying to persuade her to phone, Paddyanne but she’s worried about them being cross with her because of the many exhortations not to phone them.

Had mine today too while taking disabled husband for his. They had a spare as someone couldn't have theirs. Queued outside for 20 mins in semi shelter from the rain but it was worth it.

Great news Daisymae - I am taking my disabled husband tomorrow mid afternoon to get his jab. I would totally love to be able to get mine at the same time if there are spares going (I am 50+ with no serious health conditions but am my husband's sole carer). I am happy to wait my turn if need be but would be ecstatic to get it earlier if possible - I am the one going out for shopping, prescriptions etc and am terrified of catching the virus and giving it to my husband.

I’ve contacted Nicola Sturgeon tonight as the media is reporting that she said for people 80+yo to contact her directly if they hadn’t had their vaccine.

I hope I have a reply by the time I get up.

OH had his Monday at his local GP very efficient he was back home in 30 mins, he didn’t complain about side effects but he was a bit quiet and did take a couple of doses of paracetamol on Wednesday, seems OK now.
In this area it seems to be a blitz approach, get as many jabbed as quickly as possible, if any over 70s haven’t been contacted probably a good idea to contact GP to check they haven’t been missed

SueDonim, I got a text last night from the Shielding dept, to say if I hadn't had an appointment by the end of next week to contact them.

It was the same phone number I gave you. Fat lot of good that did!!

DH went for his yesterday and all our elderly neighbours were there too. It must have been done by age group, then post code.

So had mine yesterday at the local GP surgery. Very efficiently done, advised to wait 15 minutes if driving or 5 if taken home by somebody, (had the Oxford AZ) So far so good, not sure how long before any possible headache/aches/feeling fluey, was expecting it during the night but I slept well.

Mine was 3 weeks ago tomorrow so in theory I should be around 60% protected, but I won't be taking any risks. Not that many risks are available at the moment.

I missed a call on Tuesday to say the surgery had some vaccine left. As I’m not due for the vaccine yet I wasn’t expecting it. Absolutely gutted. Was ok knowing mine wasn’t due but now I feel totally despondent. I was going to get a smartphone just as the pandemic kicked in but then didn’t want to go to Currys to sort one out.

My mum braved the terror of phoning her surgery. She’s getting her jag on Sunday.

Three of my friends, who are in their sixties, live near me and are in good health, are getting theirs at the weekend....and boasting about it!

As for me, nothing! So much for protecting the extremely. clinically vulnerable. I kept my side of the bargain!
They are probably hoping I will pop my clogs, sooner than later. ?
As you can guess, I'm not in a very good mood!

My mum’s friend hasn’t has hers, either, and she’s blind as well as having various other conditions. This friend didn’t even know she should have been shielding until the autumn, when she had her flu jab. She was in effect shielding anyway, as she’s housebound, but neither she nor my mum has had any contact with anyone from any government agency through the whole pandemic.

It’s awful how people such as them have been cast aside, while the Scots govt puts on this faux ‘we care’ facade at their daily briefings. My mum and her friend could have died alone and no one would have known. I’m so angry about this.

I had mine done yesterday Oxford/AstraZeneca vaccine. I had a text from the surgery the afternoon before with a link to book an appt for the next day and had a choice of 2 slots.

Very efficient . DOB checked at each stage. I was given a card with details written on. I was given the jab by a doctor who introduced herself, asked me various medical history questions and then gave me the jab. She said they would contact me with details of the second date to attend and to keep my card safe and bring it with me. She asked if I was driving but when I said my daughter had driven me she let me go straight away. Was in there less than 10 minutes.

Our centre was the local council offices in the nearest town about 2 miles away. I was very impressed how well it was done. I had a sheet of information with side effects printed on it. Yesterday I felt nauseous for several hours and a bit achey and this morning had a mild headache which has now gone. Arm a bit sore but that seems to be wearing off. Arm was more sore from flu jab last Oct. all in all very positive experience and very glad to have had it.

My surgery are absolutely hopeless. They abandoned me, all through my shielding. To be honest, I am a drain on their resources.
I myself, have had to drive my care and treatment, no support at all. ?
