Oh heck 3dognight...seems to be quite common then to feel poorly after whichever vaccine.....I'm having an operation on my leg tomorrow to remove a piece of garden strimmer blade that's been in my leg since August...and I'm so not feeling well enough or in the right frame of mind...but dare'nt cancel..may have to wait months again....

This was the AZ.

Farview, I felt ‘not myself’ for about two weeks, from twelve hours after the jab.

I had a full on migraine with sickness for thirtysix hours, not able to have a drink, only sips.

I honestly felt as though somebody had altered my dna!

No energy, no interest in anything, wanting to eat strange things!

Tired and miserable, not me at all .

I’ve got my second jab in about two weeks and I’m dreading it !

It's a week today now since my vaccine and am still definitely not 100%....extremely tired and look totally haggard...

Husband and I both had Pfizer, and after the 1st dose we were both fine, just a slight tenderness for a couple of days. Although, I did get some redness and itching after 7 days, where the needle went in.

We had our 2nd dose on Saturday. We were fine on the day, but for a couple of days afterwards we both felt exhausted, and had lots of muscular aches, and hubby had a headache. Then, yesterday morning, I developed quite a large rash at the top of my arm, which is very red, itchy and slightly warm & swollen. It's also quite achey to lift my arm. After doing my own research, it seems to be a normal, possible side effect, so I'm not unduly worried. I hope it goes in a day or two!

Same here farview. No side effect at all after first jab- and none this time until late evening when it hit me. Terrible headached, bad stomach and high temp. Same next day. Better today, but I am sure I've got a mild temperature now. I was not expecting that, at all!

After 1st Pfizer vaccine..felt fine...excited to have 2nd one last Tuesday...initially a sore arm that's all...Wednesday...horrendous intermittent stabbing headaches that lasted until Thursday a.m...and since then...everything feels a bit surreal, am very emotional, just dont feel fully 'with it'...its a bit scary....cant hear properly either...

Same here Whitewave. Feeling a bit lethargic today but that’s nothing unusual!

Whitewavemark2 Sat 01-May-21 17:24:05

Pfizer here. Both jabs. Zero side affects.

I had flu-like symptoms with my first jab, although these only lasted a day or so. Had my second jab a week or so ago and was perfectly fine. This was the AstraZenica.

I had my second vaccine ten days ago. Ever since, I’ve had a weird metallic taste in my mouth. Anyone else experienced that? Apart from a sore arm, that’s the only side effect I’ve had this time.

I had my second AZ vaccine last Sunday. Foggy brain all day Monday, fine now.

I had my second jab last week. Unlike my first dose of the AZ, when I had flu like symptoms and a headache for a few days, I had no after effects other than a slightly sore arm.

A minute after i had my vaccine i went dizzy and had to sit down for 15 minutes, followed by severe headache, tingling lips, itchy back, numb tongue, thick throat/felt like i was being strangled and high temprature with the shakes all of which i am still having.
I only had the vaccine on monday so i am going to give it a few days then off to the Gp.

I feel immensely sorry for those who have suffered nasty side-effects - you must feel you were damned if you didn't have the vaccine, and damned that you did. I hope everyone has since settled down and felt human again.

I merely want to say, in reassurance for those reading this and wavering about getting jabbed, that I, like many, many others, had no discernible side effects when given the first AZ jab more than two weeks ago. Not even a sore arm.

I am 72 and reasonably healthy, with occasional asthma and perpetually high BP, despite daily meds. Importantly, I was told to take Paracetamol an hour before my appointment. I have no idea if it helped, but it can hardly do any harm. A Google search turned up a Lancet article saying it seemed to reduce side-effects in volunteers.

Due 2nd AZ jab today. Both dh and myself felt like we’d been run over by a bus for 1st one. Hope this is better.

Witzend Thu 22-Apr-21 19:57:29

I had very fluey shivers and shakes about 12 hours after my first AZ jab, but they were gone by the morning.

Had 2nd jab 2 days ago, nothing.
Dh had nothing from either.

moggie my DH has more health problems than the average person of his age and takes numerous meds for blood pressure, blood cancer, asthma, tremor, etc etc. We both had the AZ on the same day with the same GP. He had no side effects at all. I only have mild asthma but I had bad shakes and shivers and a headache. Doesn’t seem to be any accounting for who it affects or how,

moggie57 Thu 01-Apr-21 12:03:46

yes i already reported to the yellow card scheme.. i still cant swallow properly ...still got aching joints too.....i think people who have underlying health problems get a whole lot more after the vaccine.....i had pins and needles in the whole of my body for 4 hours . NHS111 said its not uncommon ..they also said the 2nd vaccine is stronger so you could get stronger side effects .

glammanana Thu 01-Apr-21 11:59:27

I had my first jab mid January with no effects except a sore arm for a few hours I have had more discomfort when I have had my annual flu jab,I am having my 2nd jab tomorrow hopefully with no ill effects.
My DD had her 1st jab last week-end and she has been poorly ever since, razor sharp sore throat, headache, swollen arm which is very painful she works in IT so work has been difficult for her hopefully the symptoms subside during the next few days.

blondenana Thu 01-Apr-21 10:46:27

I had my second jab about 2 weeks ago, no side effects the first time, second time after about 4 days had the headache from Hell, never get headaches normally,
All this week have felt stiff and even my fingers feel stiff
Didn't associate it with the vaccine, but could be i guess,
Hopefully wont last, but had a painful shoulder before that,[ on the other side] so maybe just a bit of arthritis
Very interesting thread though
Still glad i had it though

Denmark (I think) are saying that the needle should be aspirated (?) to make sure it isn’t going into a blood vessel. Someone posted a picture on Facebook of their arm after having the vaccination and it looked very low down and possibly not in the deltoid muscle. Given that many people are being trained up to give the vaccine I wonder if some are doing it incorrectly?

Yes, air going into a blood vessel could, in rare cases, cause an embolism, so that is an interesting point, MayBee.

The nurse did take a while searching for the correct place to inject when I had my 2nd dose but I still bled so she must have caught a blood vessel.

Thanks CocoPops. I think the jury is still out on this, I guess Canada and Germany are erring on the side of caution by giving younger people a different vaccine until more is known.

I had the AZ jab two weeks ago. the first 24 hrs I was fine then I had flu like symptoms over the 2nd evening but no headache. I felt ok the next day but a little more tired than usual, lacking in energy, so had a quiet day. Fine after that.
