I've booked a haircut - the first one in over a year!

I'm going for a walk with somebody on Sunday and we're planning to have a picnic if the weather's nice. First time I've been with anybody face-to-face (apart from the GP and dentist) for more than a year.

In Scotland so looking forward to going to garden centre after Monday and making a haircut appointment Stay at home ends tomorrow but we still have to stay within Council area so still can't visit family or friends as all outwith this area Roll on next indicative date of 26th April when shielding paused workman allowed in and we can travel throughout Scotland

Things won't change much, I'm a cheerful solitary.

I definitely want a haircut, it's fine and frizzy and grey but not the good kind of grey. Ugh.

It'll be nice to have outdoor café coffee with friends.

It'll be lovely to get the odd week at the coast.

However, during the current response to easing, as with the easing of Lockdown #1, the more I see prats gathering in unmasked hordes, the more I'll be staying home and keeping my distance.

I have decided to keep the grey that has appeared and the dark back. No more torture for hours getting it coloured in and out after a wash and blow-dry. We have cut it between us goodness knows what the back looks like I don't use the mirror to look.
I'm told by DD on facetime it looks fine so that will do until I get my second jab. Not much difference at all.
Too far from relis to meet up so facetime it still is until overnight stays are allowed.

A lot of people seem to have missed the fact that even though we can now meet in gardens, we are still supposed to social distance when we do. I have seen countless photos of groups of five or six friends sitting together at a picnic table.

Looking forward to being able to go swimming again - walking the streets doesn't do my cranky knees or my mental health any good and my poor old body feels very stagnant.
Husband and I went out to a woodland area yesterday further afield than we have been visiting, and had the usual packed lunch in the car (husband can't stand eating outside if there's even the occasional insect!) finished off with a visit to some family we haven't seen for 18 months, and had a nice cup of tea and a natter in the garden, so it was nice that we could do that.
I did for the only time in lockdown manage to get a booking for a NT property last week for a walk with my sister, which was OK-ish, but felt rather regimented, had to stick to designated paths, and when we inadvertently strayed off of the approved route down a path my sister has used many times, we were rounded up by a NT staff member in a van!
Looking forward to next month and going to our caravan and unsupervised walks in the woods there which don't have to be booked!
Roll on June and the end of restrictions, more freedom and choice of things we are able to do.

To answer the original question, we have invited our daughter and family to join us for a picnic in the garden at the weekend. We'll have two tables, us and them, a few feet apart. Hoping the weather holds.

looking forward to hairdresser, primark, getting the train into Liverpool and visiting my favourite cafe there, but, slightly concerned after watching the crowds out and about yesterday and especially with easter coming up. my daughter had two friends in her garden yesterday who she hadnt seen for months, she got a message the next day from one of them who said he had had really bad headache so thought it was wise to get a test and it was positive so just imagine if one person among all the crowds yesterday was the same, it would spread like wildfire again because a lot of the crowd were young ones who think they will be fine,

Grandmabeach Wed 31-Mar-21 12:04:44

Went for coffee in friends garden yesterday. So lovely to see them face to face especially as we have not seen them since August. Have not seen DD or DS and grandchildren since February 2020 but hope we can get to meet half way for a picnic during the Easter holidays.

I'm dying to see my son as soon as we're able to travel between Scotland and England. Then to get my nails done again will feel SO good, and a trim will make me look less like Camilla (this is a good thing in my book!) I'll also enjoy resuming my Saturday lunches with a close friend, and face to face meetings with my lovely Support Worker.

luckily we live in rural area with lovely woods to walk in so been getting exercise watching the seasons, miss most being able to get in the car and have a day out when ever we want

Macgran43 Wed 31-Mar-21 12:16:51

I have an invalid husband at home so not many changes for me. Family and friends have been supportive during Lockdown but that may lessen as they’ll all have other things to do now. I asked for advice on GN and decided to have my husband at home rather in a Nursing Home at present. It has gone well although hard work and I’m glad I’ve had this chance to care for him and see him every day.

Froglady Wed 31-Mar-21 12:22:38

I'll be able to meet the members of my reading group - we haven't seen each other for over a year so there's a lot to catch up on.
Then a haircut: I have cut it a bit myself but it really needs someone who knows what they are doing.

Nannina Wed 31-Mar-21 12:24:03

Last day of shielding today so I’m looking forward to no more frozen bread, milk and veg

HannahLoisLuke Wed 31-Mar-21 12:32:03

Can’t wait to meet family in the garden, weather permitting, go to a garden centre and get my highlights done. I trim my hair myself but it needs doing properly. My natural colour is dark blonde but I have two white streaks near the crown which stick out like a sore thumb if I don’t have highlights. Last year I tried doing it myself and ended up looking like Boris!
However, I’ve been shielding so won’t be going to the salon. My hairdresser comes to me at home but also has a salon so I’ll be at the back of the queue until the initial rush dies down. That’s ok, I’ll wait.

I cut my own hair in both lockdowns, one professional cut in the middle. Saved a fortune and did a good enough job with my sewing scissors which are extremely sharp. Not rushing back yet.
Like EllenVannin I haven't missed a lot. Face to face Bridge but with Realbridge not a big loss. We rarely eat out. I walk every day. The one difference will be being able to meet more than one other for exercise so fewer meet ups. I get peopled out at times.
While I got on very well in lockdown and enjoyed stepping off the treadmill of busyness I'm very pleased for everyone who missed family/couldn't work etc I realise I'm fortunate in being retired and feel for those whose lives have been dreadful

Cabbie21 Wed 31-Mar-21 12:49:40

Had a lovely walk this morning in NT grounds. Once I got away from the queue I was surrounded by spring bulbs, daffodils with occasionally pink, yellow and white primroses, violets, cowslips. Beautiful!

leeds22 Wed 31-Mar-21 12:50:00

Hairdressers booked for early May, think I’m going to let it go grey but it needs a good cut. Manicure and eyebrows next on list. Want to go for a walk on a beach, any beach will do, nearest is 60 miles away. Family meet ups are a given but a bit upset by one son who thinks he hasn’t seen us for a year, it’s actually two and that was brief.

Mamiejan Wed 31-Mar-21 12:51:32

I live in an area in france where we haven’t had lockdown ,only 7 pm curfew so life goes on pretty much as normal here (apart from bars and restaurants being shut ) all shops open as usual
However I can’t wait to be able to travel back to UK to see the children ,haven’t seen them in over a year,so counting down the weeks or months until «foreign» travel is allowed without having to self isolate ?

henetha Wed 31-Mar-21 12:57:54

I drove to Torquay yesterday, a disance of about 15 miles from here. I didn't go in any shops, nor mingle in any way.
I drove to a cliff top road and sat in the car with my packed lunch, enjoying the view across to Brixham. After a short walk I then drove home again. It was lovely.

Mamma7 Wed 31-Mar-21 12:58:15

Mani/pedi booked
Haircut booked (husband now colours roots every 4 weeks and does v good job so no change there, saves me a fortune, sadly rubbish at cutting hair like me)
Really miss pubs/restaurants/theatre and travel to cities/countryside
Fortunately have been in childcare bubble so have been kept occupied
Golf has started again - happy days!

Cabbie21 Wed 31-Mar-21 13:02:29

Once the Easter holidays are over and schools are back I am planning some trips eg on the train to the seaside, about 1.5 hrs journey, and driving to visit smalll towns not too far away, just for a change of scene.

Ronnie Wed 31-Mar-21 13:04:10

Yesterday I enjoyed an outdoor swim, first since lockdown, so looking forward to going back to regular swims as walking any distant is difficult. Meeting with friends in the garden is next.
