I've booked a haircut - the first one in over a year!

I'm going for a walk with somebody on Sunday and we're planning to have a picnic if the weather's nice. First time I've been with anybody face-to-face (apart from the GP and dentist) for more than a year.

Just waiting until I can see nearest family and GC who live 35 miles away, even outdoors would be good. Do have hairdresser appointment booked as ends of hair seem to have gone very dry and thick. Loads of conditioner has no affect.

My hairdresser is delighted I’m refusing to go grey yet. She told me she’s very worried that her income will reduce massively if lots of people start not colouring. I know she’s really struggled, obviously she can furlough her staff but not herself and still has bills to pay.

Not a lot will change for me/us. When my favourite shoe shop reopens I desperately need new shoes, but that's probably the only shop I'll be visiting in the near future. I'll continue to buy clothes, groceries and everything else online, it's become a way of life for us. We'll meet with family occasionally but continue to avoid busy town centres, supermarkets, crowded social events etc. I think it will take us a long time to regain confidence in mixing with other people.

I live in Wales so hairdressers open sooner, so have managed to get an appt in a week's time at 7.30 p.m.!! It will be a first with a new h/dresser as my usual salon will never re-open.
When my husband was alive I wore my hair long but have had it short now for some years. It is now half way down my back and I am fed up trying to keep it tied up and away from my neck, especially since the weather has been so warm.
No other changes really as I am lucky enough to live in beautiful country surroundings - just a pity that nearby neighbours have family from across the border who don't consider the rules apply to them and are here nearly every other weekend! There is also someone cutting down trees nearby which, now birds are nesting, is not allowed!! Different rule book again!!

I cut all my hair off with my husband's bread trimmer as a lockdown protest so it will be a while before I need hairdresser.

Crumbs ... a bread trimmer ! smile wink

no difference at all until travel is allowed, then we can visit dd 120 miles away and our second home in france. we don't socialise and rarely, if ever eat out in the uk

Babs758 Wed 31-Mar-21 14:58:49

I booked my hairdressers appt for May some time ago. Have cut and dyed it twice myself so far!
Meeting friends on Friday in their garden. We should have been going to France with them this week. I have not seen them for a year.
Still hoping for an overseas holiday in a few months but that hope is rapidly fading!

Finally, my daughter is getting married. Just 10 of us, including bride and groom. Wedding list snipped down from 120.

I wish them all the very best for a happily married life - a challenge in itself at times - but they've weathered the pandemic so that bodes well. :-)

Me too for library opening, I have a list of books I want. My mobility has deteriorated over last year so trying to book holiday to Wales hopefully in June. Dd & grandchildren, not seen for 3 months, coming Sat so hope it's warm enough for garden. Hair (hairband)

I am just sad that I won't be able to see my GS on his 18th birthday next week as he lives in England and we are not allowed out of Wales just yet.

I'll be happy to have my hair cut professionally again - although I haven't booked anywhere, as I need to get recommendations! We moved to Scotland, and I don't know anyone yet, to ask. I have made one friend, due to a love of reading (the friend is an author who has a cafe not far from here), but as he's male, and does not appear to be overly groomed, I'm not sure he would be able to assist in the hairdresser department! I could just ask anyway, I suppose! Getting to know our new neighbours would be good!

Alioop Wed 31-Mar-21 16:48:16

I'm so jealous of you ladies. N.Ireland assembly hasn't given us any dates yet for anything. My hair will be at my posterior at this rate!

Looking forward to having friends and family in the garden, the hairdresser and some retail therapy in Windsor!

HillyN Wed 31-Mar-21 17:53:29

I've had a brilliant first two days since we were allowed out.
On Monday I met up with my sister in a park with our pre-school granddaughters for a coffee (from a flask). I haven't seen her for more than a year apart from a chat from her front garden when I dropped off the Christmas presents.
Yesterday DD1 and her family came round at teatime and we had a barbecue in the garden and shared a bottle of Prosecco. In a childcare bubble with DD2 so haven't seen much of them either.
We were so lucky to have had such lovely weather that made it possible and I look forward to doing it all again.

DStS came to cut our jungle grass today and we were able to sit outside with him for a bit of lunch. Absolutely lovely to just sit and chat together in the sunshine

Jess20 Wed 31-Mar-21 18:47:51

I just saw my oldest son for the first time in far too long, a 1.5 hour each way drive so we could sit for an hour outside in his garden before rushing home to the loo.... Lovely to see him.

knspol Wed 31-Mar-21 20:06:59

Mani/pedi booked but have to wait for hairdresser appt as they are contacting people in date order of missed appts. If the weather stays reasonably pleasant may be able to have family for garden BBQ or meet up. Still won't be straying far from home as DH very ill.

grannyrebel7 Wed 31-Mar-21 20:08:10

I'm going 'proper shopping' on Saturday after months of doing click and collect. I'm going to push a trolley around the supermarket and enjoy putting stuff in and deliberating over what to buy. How sad is that! I don't think I'll ever take the simple things for granted ever again after this! Can't wait!

Notright Wed 31-Mar-21 20:12:49

Long hair is easier - you can pile it up on the top of your head. Make a chignon at the bag. Just don't wear it down and loose. It will look lovely. I'm having the same decision to make. At least if you decide to keep it long we can have it cut off if we tire of it. Good luck

NorthowramGran Wed 31-Mar-21 20:44:04

Drove 200 miles on Monday morning to see 2 year old DGS & his mum & dad for first time in over 8 months. Visited the park then sat in their garden before driving 200 miles home again. Was one of the best days of my life.

National lockdown again here in France. Can't travel further than 10km and curfew continues. I haven't got all the details yet. Think its for three weeks from 3rd April.
