Hi all. Just carry on as we were before. Anyone who wants a chat welcome ?

NfkDumpling Sun 13-Jun-21 22:31:54

That really is inhumane. To have to fight every inch of the way like this isn't right. Even half an hour a day isn't right at this stage. Panache should be allowed contact as much as she and Mr P need surely. And to be escorted to and from his room as if she's going to dive off and steal a chamber pot on the way out. What have we come to?

I too remember Mr G coming home and thinking how nice it was that he could see his family.

Kaimoana Mon 14-Jun-21 08:17:17

A very cold and miserably rainy day and more of the same for the remainder of the month.

There may be light at the end of the printer. It's a long story so I won't bore you but I may be getting it back tomorrow.

IRD gave me a $24 tax rebate on donations; new inks for printer cost $124. grin What the Taxman giveth, Epson taketh away.

Mamissimo Mon 14-Jun-21 09:44:32

Good morning ?

I'm thinking of sending a straight talking email to the Panaches' MP with copies to their local BBC newsroom, to little Mattie Hancock and his Welsh equivalent, telling them nicely to sort it out. But I won't because this should be a private time for them........

but Panache ......demand ask them nicely for a bed to be put in his room for you because your religion and culture expects you provide some of his care and for him not to be left alone. Ask them whilst you're in his room and sitting down....because they wouldn't dare to physically remove you. Pop a few bits in a capacious handbag and you'll be in.

?

Mamissimo
hear hear

NfkDumpling Mon 14-Jun-21 15:13:43

Good idea Mamissimo. Call their bluff.

Doodle Mon 14-Jun-21 16:11:52

Hello all.
It’s a scorcher here and I have no energy. I worked hard over the weekend tidying and sorting, today my get up and go has got up and left. Taking it easy (apart from washing my hair and doing the ironing)
I sent another PM to Panache this morning telling her of all the people who are thinking of her, not just all of us here but those in Soop’s kitchen too. I did pass on your idea Mamissimo, it’s a good one.
Nfk I too think they should have as much time together as they can. Half an hour is nothing really
Hello Kaimoana. Hope there is good news on your printer and you have it back in working order soon. Loved your quip ?
Grammaretto your quiz on Saturday was obviously a tuneful event. Swinging a song with a girls name in gives lots of scope. I could think of half a dozen without trying. Which one did you pick? Glad you enjoyed it.

Doodle Mon 14-Jun-21 16:12:24

Singing not swinging ?‍♀️

dragonfly46 Mon 14-Jun-21 20:02:31

Thank you for contacting Panache on our behalf Doodle. It is such a sad situation.
That sounds a great idea Mamissimo I hope Panache still has the strength to carry it out.

Doodle Mon 14-Jun-21 20:26:43

Hi dragonfly hope you are doing ok.
Panache thinks MrP is not necessarily being treated as he should be because, despite his prognosis from February, his resilience and fighting spirit and his determination to carry on, are not ticking the right boxes as far as the hospital are concerned for someone on the end pathway.
Panache spent an hour with MrP today and didn’t have an escort so hopes she is winning that battle. MrP seems so pleased to see her and is doing all he can to keep being with her. The hospital is difficult to get to but Panache is taking it one day at a time.
Panache knows I am updating you all and I have passed on all your good wishes to her. She wants me to thank you all for being her steadfast support and to tell you it means so much to her.

NfkDumpling Mon 14-Jun-21 21:33:01

Thank you for that Doodle.

Grammaretto Mon 14-Jun-21 21:50:46

Thanks very much for the update Doodle
I think that in these circumstances Panache must follow her instincts and do what is best for both of them.
Good on you Panache

Hospitals have their own agenda which turns all patients into just that - patients.

The hospital wanted to keep DH in for some more treatment and we had to plead with them to let him out. It could have added a week or two to his life but so what? He wanted to come home desperately.

The quiz was fun Doodle the songs I chose/remembered/sang were Peggy Sue, Buddy Holly, Hello Marylou, Goodbye Heart Ricky Nelson, Ruby Tuesday the Rolling Stones
Sweet Caroline Neil Diamond. Help me Rhonda Beach Boys.

There were a lot of songs from the others. My niece and her partner sing in a band.

Doodle Mon 14-Jun-21 22:16:33

Grammaretto everyone should have the right to decide their own treatment and care plan. Many would choose quality over quantity. I’m so glad your got MrG home and your family had a chance to spend some time together.
Quiz sounds fun I would have gone for Sweet Caroline as my first choice as it’s the first one that popped into my head.
Glad you enjoyed it.

Kaimoana Mon 14-Jun-21 23:26:56

Thanks so much Doodle for keeping us in touch about the Panaches.

What ever the hospital authorities think, it's clear they both want to be together for whatever time they have left and everyone should honour this, not put a bravely fighting MrP into a category detrimental to that end.
I am still very angry angry and upset about this so I’ll say no more.

I think I may be going deaf as well as blind. I heard a snatch of news (normally avoided as I would a Covid carrier) and thought I heard, “The UK is at loggerheads with the Emu.”
Conjured up a wonderful image.
It was, of course ‘the EU”. grin

Doodle Mon 14-Jun-21 23:29:12

Kaimoana grin I wonder if we’d be better off if it was Emus.

Just read on the GM thread that it is dragonfly’s birthday.

Many many happy returns, Hope you have a lovely day x
? ? ?

Kaimoana Tue 15-Jun-21 15:09:30

Happy Birthday dragonfly

Grammaretto Tue 15-Jun-21 15:45:48

Happy Birthday Dragonfly. I hope you are having a lovely day. It was my DM's birthday. A great time of year.
Are you doing anything special?

The gas man came and found several leaks and the good news was he fixed some of them quite quickly but the bad news he condemned my Rayburn so I have no cooker, hot water or cosy kitchen and don't know what to do!
Replacements cost upwards of £6,000 so chances are I am looking for something much cheaper.

Our first house cost less than that.

I may go and plant out my leeks and think about something else.

Doodle Tue 15-Jun-21 20:13:27

DH persuaded me to go for a walk at 2pm as it would be cooler than later . We arrived back home hot exhausted and dripping. So worn out we spent the rest of the afternoon sitting on the balcony with a GandT . Still there tonight when our son phoned. We had hoped to have a meal with us all together but Boris has put paid to that. Still if it keeps us safe who am I to complain. We have now decided to do separate meals with our sons. Finally managed to sort them both out. We are fine, no commitments but they have all sorts going on.
I have a really sore little toe. It folds itself underneath one of the others when I walk. I have ordered a little toe bunion protector ( I don’t have bunions) to see if that will keep it safe.
Grammaretto I’m pleased the gasman sorted some of your leeks but oh dear that’s a problem with the Rayburn. We had a Rayburn back boiler when I was young but I imagine yours is like an AGA type thing that you cook on too.
That is a costly replacement. Have you had it a long time?

Doodle Tue 15-Jun-21 20:14:59

Kaimoana that’s a lovely picture. How clever of you to find it. ?

Doodle Tue 15-Jun-21 20:22:31

Been meaning to share with you some photos from the Dean’s garden ( not mine unfortunately). I thought they were lovely.
I can’t remember what the yellow one (or in fact any of them) is called but it is one that flowers at night and only lasts for 24 hours

Kaimoana Tue 15-Jun-21 22:22:01

First of all, apologies for the rather terse message to dragonfly. It was after 2am and I wasn't thinking straight. Ha, do I ever? grin

Hope you had a splendid and sparkling day dragonfly flowers

Oooh Doodle that toe sounds painful, I hope the little bunion collar helps.

Grammaretto Is there a Rayburn Service place which can upgrade and pass your snug appliance as safe, more cheaply than a replacement?

The printer is working, happy news.

My book was rejected but as I used to tell my students, it's all part of a writer's life.
I've had much rejected over the past 50 years but a great deal more accepted. Swings & roundabouts.
Now I'll print and illustrate it myself. smile

The OT from the Blind Foundation is coming at 10am and there's a structural house inspection too. I've been warned they'll ask me questions confused.
What do they imagine a decrepit old crone like me knows about structural things?

Now if they'd asked when I was in my 30's, I could have wowed them with my isometric drawings and prattled about load-bearing walls.

In the bathroom I have a small rubbish bin into which I throw toilet roll inners.

Grace had added a cleaning fluid bottle, so I moved to put all into the recycling.
The Eco-Loo was still 3/4 full.
She'd taken it from the shelf, used a squirt, then thrown it away. shock

Having just read that Kauri die-back is caused by fungi spore imported from Korea, I'm wondering if Grace is part Kauri.
grin

Doodle Tue 15-Jun-21 22:30:12

Kaimoana so pleased your printer is working but sorry your book has been rejected. You are such a good writer I’m sorry they didn’t accept it.
I hope the visit with the Blind Foundation goes well. Do you know what they are coming for?
I wonder where they find your helpers. Not able to make beds. Throwing full containers away. The mind boggles. ?
Does Grace actually do anything to help you or do you just spend your time going round after her? ?

Mamissimo Tue 15-Jun-21 23:32:19

Just creeping in to let you know that DD2 is no longer expecting ? she is heartbroken and our hearts break for her. She's a stoic, pragmatic little thing but needs a hug so we're off for a day or two. Please look after yourselves well!

Kaimoana Wed 16-Jun-21 02:25:20

Mamissimo I am so very, very sorry to hear that. Thinking of you all.

Grammaretto Wed 16-Jun-21 08:36:21

Oh oh. Sad news indeed Mamissimo
Cwtches and hugs to you all xxx
