Anyone having a reaction to Covid Vaccination now we are several months from first jab?

I got a terrible headache from first AZ dose but it went after a couple of days. DH was very tired after both his. SiL has a badly swollen arm. But apart from that no probs and certainly no long term ones.

Tired, slight headache. Nil Else, now had both.Feel marvellous and thankful.

Horendious side effects 5 weeks on,dreading my 2nd beyond belief.
Wish i had not had it.

What symptoms did you have ?

Timetogo please explain to us how you know that symptoms you are experiencing 5 weeks after your vaccine are a side effect.

Jan/March AZ no Problem at all for us or our AC. Feel very grateful.

Feb/May, DH and I both had Pfizer, no side effects at all and both thankful to have had ours.

I only know of one friend who was unwell for four days after her first jab. It didn’t put her off having her second one and no side effects on that occasion.

Medics, family and friends have all been vaccinated and again, grateful.

Agree with janeainsworth, just because you had the vaccination months ago, and then develop symptoms , does not mean that the two are related, drawing a straight line between the two is poor science.

Had Pfizer vaccine in January and last week. I had absolutely no side effects after first one, not even a sore arm. I was over any side efffects before I left the clinic. Second time my arm was a bit sore for a couple of days, but I am fine now.

Does your GP agree, being ill 5 weeks later, are symptomatic of having had your vaccination timetogo ?

Absolutely grannysyb but the only way to find out if people are having long term problems that either were not there before the vaccination; or have got worse, is to ask them. Then if a clear pattern emerges it might warrant further investigation. My tiny random survey on gransnet is not intended to be science at all, just a question for people who are likely to have been having their first jab at the start of this year. I certainly can not see a pattern emerging in the responses so far but I am interested that Daisymae knows people who have existing medical issues that are having problems. That is exactly the issue that is concerning my son's girlfriend, that the vaccination may make an existing auto-immune condition worse and her GP is very much on the fence as to whether she should have the jab or not.

No. Shivers and shakes the same night after the first jab (AZ), nothing from the 2nd, nothing at all since.
Dh had no reaction to either.

No, I had flu like symptoms after the first on the following day. Had 2nd yesterday and my arm hurts and I feel hot but that is about it. What I find surprising is I am a very migrainy person and didn't have the associated headache that everyone else seems to have!

Between my two jabs, I went down wih a winter bug and had more migraine than usual, I associate neither with my jab.

Winter bugs occur this time of year and my migraines are irregular and do seem to have increased recently, but since DD was briefly at death's door last summer and DH had a heart attack in November, followed by bypass surgery and complications. if the increase in my migraines have any cause I think family events are far more likely to be the cause.

Jsugt tiredness after first (astra Veneca) jab. Nothing at all, not even mark on my arm after second.
Most of my AC have autoimmune problems. All have had their jabs, no problems. My SiL who has both Type 1 diabetes and serious pysoratic arthritus and is on loads of medication including a monthly day trip for an infusion in hospital, had had both of his jabs. Yes, his wife had to put up with his man-type moans for a two or three days each time, but that has been all.
Think some people somehow want to convince themselves that this vaccine is not the wonderful thing it is.

I would tell her to contact Professor Tim Spector of the Zoe app which is collecting data on 4 million of us. All recording daily symptoms pre and post vaccinations, batch numbers etc. Apart from the extremely small number with blood clots, now recovered, and even fewer fatalities, no long term effects recorded. I imagine it is the clots your son's girlfriend is worried about, but if she is in contact with patients her risk of catching it or giving it to them is hundreds times greater. You can always find badly done research papers as well as good ones to back up your worries! ?

Life is a risk, the cable car tragedy recently was so sad for the families, but it wouldn't stop me going in a cable car ever again.

We both had the Pfizer jab and had no reactions at all apart from a little tenderness at the top of our arm. Absolutely fine otherwise. I have friends who have had Pfizer jab or Astra Zeneca, only one of them had a reaction. My daughter hasn’t had hers yet (this worries me!) because she couldn’t afford to have a reaction, she has only just returned to work! I am hoping she has it soon as she does work in the community.

Agree we need to talk about it, obviously any symptom can be put down to the jab, as we know even people who had placebos reported side effects. We are learning all the time.

I had the AZ vaccination. No side effects with either, in fact I didn’t even feel the needle go in!
I have a young friend in the US who had the Moderna and suffered every after effect imaginable and was really unwell for over a week.

Thanks B9exchange I have passed that name onto her. It is not the blood clot issue that is concerning her, she knows that risk is small and she is on maternity leave so she is not in contact with patients at present but of course that will change soon. I think it is more about a fear of the unknown long term effects of the vaccine on her system and of course that is really answerable yet.

About the same as long term effects as any other Corona virus vaccine. You know, flu vaccines. They’ve been around for years and years.

This isn’t something new. Just modified from what we already had.

I’d be interested in knowing what these “in depth scientific papers” are?

Lyndylou I’ve had both my AZ in Feb and April with minimal after effects for 24hrs. Likewise everyone in my circle of friends and family.

With regard to concerns about auto immune conditions, my daughter, an NHS nurse, has rheumatoid arthritis and is on several drugs including self administered weekly methotrexate injections.

She contracted covid last year and was very unwell for a few weeks. She has continued to work throughout the pandemic apart from the 4 weeks she was ill. She didn’t hesitate to have her vaccinations in Nov and Jan and has had zero after effects.

After seeing the devastating effects of covid in hospital wards and experiencing it to a lesser degree herself she didn’t have a second’s hesitation about having her vaccinations.

Personally, I’d have more concerns about the possibility of long covid. I know of a nurse in her 40s who is still struggling with multiple significant health issues 9 months on and is still unable to work.
