My son's girlfriend is due to have her first vaccination for Covid very shortly. She has already rejected one appointment due her fears about long term effects. She is a professional working for the NHS but she has read lots of medical papers about the vaccine and is still unhappy.

Now that a lot of us have had several months since the first jab, I just wondered if there is anyone who had the jab early this year and is now experiencing problems, symptoms etc that they put down to the vaccination.

My 50 year old daughter, previously fit and healthy, also has long covid [PCS]. She has found solace in several long-covid Facebook groups and is now nearly ready to launch her own Facebook video channel to invite people to share their experiences. It's a ghastly illness - currently trying to get her a test for bloodstream candidademia just in case this is contributing to the symptoms but it's like pushing a bolder up a hill!!!

First vaccination February..
Second vaccination May
No long term problem effects from me...

Feel privileged and very grateful to both NHS and government..

I had first AZ in March and my 2nd on Saturday.
Nothing with the first at all. In fact I rubbed my arm the same evening, it was a tad tender but until then I had forgotten about it.
24 hours after my second (I was at my daughters playing with DGDs) when I became very hot (the sun was out so I took little notice) 20 mins later I was wrapped up in my cardigan saying I needed to go in as I was too cold. I drove 50miles home without incident other than the radio was really irritating me! There was little to no traffic I landed home 1300 and straight into a bath to warm up. Whilst washing I felt the tenderness of my arm and put 2 + 2 together.
From then until 8am yesterday I felt like I had been hit by a bus, steam rollered and swung out on a bungee to dry. However I did sleep most of it. Yesterday I slept most of the day, still a bit hot and cold but the aches and pains had dispersed, and all fluids tasted like metal polish smells. confused
I woke at 2300 last night and occupied myself until 5am then slept until 0700. Woke up feeling better than I have for weeks. Really eating to go.
Knowing I was suffering side effects made the experience copeable because it was better than the alternative. Thankful for a taster because I know for sure I would not want the full blown

I contacted the Zoe program as unwell after first Astra Zeneca vaccine - felt as though I had bad flu. I’m told that I’d you’ve previously had Covid you are twice as likely to have side effects than not. I had it March 2020. Recently had second jab and experienced just sore arm and extreme tiredness for a few days. I felt quite fed up as everyone else in my family has totally fine after theirs- ‘why me’ feeling?

**eating = raring
Ps my appetite has diminished- not a bad thing in my case ?

Sore arm after first AZ jab, felt a bit off colour the next day. Had second jab on Sunday and got a slightly sore arm but nothing else. I don’t know anyone who has had problems with it at all.

1st one - flu symptoms - bad headache, chills, fever for 2 days then fine.
2nd one - more tired than usual - slept a lot.

Had AZ.

Worth it not to get covid/long covid smile

I had a bad reaction to the 1st vaccination, AZ, but it didn't stop me having the 2nd. I had a mammogram just before my 2nd jab and they asked which arm I had my vaccination in, apparently the vaccination makes your lymph nodes swell and can affect the results. I have also read comments elsewhere about the after effects of this vaccination and someone asked if it had been reported on the NHS yellow card. I had never heard of this, it's for people having reactions to vaccinations.

I’ve had both jabs sore arm for a day etc that’s it. Pfizer both done and dusted by 20th April my birthday ? both my sons and daughter inlaws all between 34-37 had first one also Pfizer no problems with them 4. Tell her to think of the patients she is dealing with. I have arthritis.

Had AZ and after first one felt very off colour. Cold, shivering, felt sick and awful headache. Had 2nd on on Sunday and a bit spaced out day after and tired but fine now. Different for everyone I think.

Don't forget vaccination doesn't actually stop you from getting the disease, it just allieviates the symptoms.

Pfizir , first one late April, second one yesterday, no
problems

homefarm Wed 26-May-21 13:05:25

1st AZ sore arm, but always get that with the flu jab
2nd AZ sore-ish arm but that was all.
Don't know of anyone else with problems.

AZ
1st one early March: 5 weeks of severe headaches from first night and aching eyes that eventually have gone away.
2nd two weeks ago: bit of a headache but other than that nothing! ?‍♀️

NOT TRUE. Some vaccinated people will still get covid but will get it less severely. Its possible to carry the virus in your mucous membranes even if you have been vaccinated because you have been in contact with it. BUT Most people who have been vaccinated will have a response which kills the virus as it enters their bodies. This means that the virus will not replicate and they are far far less likely to infect others but also and more importantly, the virus cannot mutate, multiply and leave the host body so vaccinated people are far far less likely to shed mutated virus. No vaccine is 100% effective but its much more important and effective than just suppressing symptoms in those who are vaccinated. Please please stop spreading rubbish.

Well, who knows if it is connected but i have had palpitations 11 days after my first vacc in February and am still getting them. I now have high BP where as 21 months ago I was on a average of 33/? I'd like to know if anyone has had this happen.

grannytilly2511 Wed 26-May-21 14:36:36

Have had 2 AZ jabs . No side affects at all .

WendyBT Wed 26-May-21 14:42:59

My arm has been aching since 1st jab, worse after 2nd about a month ago. I can't hold a hairdryer properly and have difficulty doing my bra up. Can't reach up to open windows either. Otherwise all OK.

Welshy Wed 26-May-21 14:51:22

It maybe a coincidence but I have noticed a lot more joint pain to what I normally get. In different joints too, since I had my first one in March.
Also as I have mentioned before on here, I had a swollen lymph node along my collar bone which was there for 6 weeks. I had my 2nd one yesterday evening, at the moment I have a headache and feeling a bit warm & I did notice some palpitations in the night.

BluePizzaWalking Wed 26-May-21 14:51:34

No lasting side effects from astra zenica

Welshy Wed 26-May-21 14:55:38

Meta .... What is the Zoe Program please?

JaneR185 Wed 26-May-21 15:50:26

Dh and I have had Pfizer and AstraZeneca and neither of us experieced any symptoms other than tiredness on the second or third day. Dd had an unpleasant reaction for a day or two after the second dose. She tested herself for Covid as she felt quite poorly but it was negative. We have a large family and of the 11 of us there's been only this one reaction. Not heard of any other adverse reactions from our friendship groups.

Clevedon Wed 26-May-21 15:53:04

Had 2 doses of AZ, sore arm after second jab but that's all.

Nanjust60 Wed 26-May-21 16:24:42
