I live in one of the affected boroughs and there has been absolutely no information on this - nothing through the door, nothing on TV etc until this morning when I saw it on social media.
There has been absolutely nothing along the lines of "it would be a good idea if"

More detailed guidance was produced online but not communicated by the government. It will be an issue as the affected areas will need to amend their guidance and change their public messaging to reflect. I think it’s more likely that this was a government communication failure than a range of councils and public health leaders lying, I can’t think of any reason why they would do that as it’s their role to do everything they can to prevent spread.

To be honest I find that a bit weird. I’m just a private individual but at the start of the pandemic I signed up for the daily updates from Government and I’ve received them daily ever since. Everything that’s issued comes into my inbox, most of which I delete without reading because it covers just everything!

It used to come in separate emails but now comes in one long email and you click on what interests you.

I’m pretty certain I got an “Additional Restrictions” email on Friday, but I’ll go back and check. How else would I have known and had a family WhatsApp conversation about it on Sunday?

The thing is, if me as a nobody, could pick up the information why couldn’t Local Authorities? Surely they must have signed up for the daily advice and information?

I don’t know how that would work. All I know is....I knew, and as toad said, it’s common sense. We have to take responsibility for ourselves.

Yes...we heard it too, last week. Boris himself said it somewhere. I think it was at a vaccination centre in Bolton. To me it’s common sense not to travel anywhere at the moment. Where I live in the Southeast, cases are going up again.

We heard this last week on the news! People shouldn’t go to areas where the Indian variant is prevalent. We wanted to go to Bedford, but won’t now. It was there....we heard it.

It was on the news this morning.
The councils are saying that the Government did not tell them about this new guidance until last night.
The Government are saying that they did tell them before last night.
Who to believe will, I guess will depend on who is perceived to be the most trustworthy.

Yes, I heard about it on the Today program this morning.
I know that Leicester is one of the areas. It seems that Leicester has been in permanent lockdown.

Do you mean areas that are high risk with the Indian variant such as Bolton etc? I assume so. Confining travel much as NS is doing around Glasgow.

Are you in one of those areas Daisymae? My son is and has received advice both through the door and on public display screens, along with surge testing.

Where did you hear or read this Daisymae? Do you mean domestic travel or international travel? A link to the information would be helpful.
