Cherry no idea what last nights action was all about but perhaps the local papers will give us a clue. The last two occasions that such activity has occurred have sadly resulted in loss of life in the river. We have a lot of activity here as the road links 3 villages and then the motorway. I always say a little prayer as one goes past as someone somewhere is in trouble.
DH’s consultant is a lovely man. Slight, gentle and with a wonderful manner. Very good at his job and has been a real help with DHs tremor. As his tremor changes very little we only have one appointment every 12 months so he doesn’t know about the RLS yet. We are hoping he might have some ideas as to what we can do. It’s something many people suffer from but in DHs case it’s happening earlier in the day and affect his whole body not just his legs.
Sorry you have an issue too. With all your other problems, you deserve to sleep well at night.

Call me a cynic I heard that but I'm not surprised that MrD's consultation will be by telephone. I hope the neurologist is able to help as it sounds horrendous. The thing about some medications is as you point out - over time they can become less effective as our system becomes too tolerant of their effect. Perhaps there's another medication he can put on instead ?. I have a minor issue that I wouldn't exactly call RLS but I often spend a bit of time before becoming comfortable in bed, think ah that's better only to end up having to reposition my leg/s after a minute or two. My issue started because of sciatica . For me it doesn't go on all night and it's never been as bad as *MrD's problem obviously is. I feel for him, and for you.

I thought it was an unbelievable time to queue and wait to have my booster too Doodle ?, my WP said it's put him off going there for his! He'll still go there and have it when his turn comes though - maybe he'll be luckier than me ?

Aha, I see Kaimoana, thanks for explaining with the NZ government did. So very different from the UK government who allocated funds to local government and they put parcels together and'the most vulnerable' (eg. shielders) were eligible to receive them. I know your problem was one of access rather than anything else, it seems sensible to me that if certain sections of the population are advised so stay put (or can't get out because services have been withdrawn) and not go shopping then provision should be made. It's just plain wrong that you've been failed.

I'm glad that MrM had been taken off that medication, I'm assuming that's what happened Mamissimo. I couldn't agree more that the wrong medication "can play havoc with your quality of life". I have refractory epilepsy so I've been there and done that and some of the experience has , quite frankly, been hell.

Have any of the GangStars lost something and wondered if you'd ever find it? I know you can say yes to that Grammaretto. When we arrived home from the vaccine centre a couple of days ago my WP realised that the stone out of the ring he wears was gone. He had a good look around the house but couldn't find it. Yesterday he checked outside and inside the car. Nowhere to be found. He reached the conclusion that it was highly likely that he lost it at the centre and it was gone forever ?. This afternoon he was in the kitchen making a pot of tea when suddenly I heard him exclaim "wow, wow". He'd found the stone on the inside door of the fridge!

I'm snatching a moment to catch up with the Lobstars before the chaos catches up with me again. Next week I am on childminding duties at DD1's home because her childminder's own children have COVID. She's a teacher and since September has had to take 8 sessions off for childcare because her smallest was born just before COVID and hasn't mixed as much and is now catching everything going.

DD2's lovely dog has suddenly started having fits and is now on medication. That's been an added worry for her because her dogs are her family at the moment.

Apart from that we are doing ok and have even seen our consultants and GP in person. That was the highlight of my week!

Mr M has made a full recovery from the stupid making medication and is moving occasionally charging around. It's lovely to have him back! Medicine is wonderful stuff but the wrong one can play havoc with your quality of life.

My wish list for this week is no electrical storms for Cherry, some deeds for Grammaretto, some veg improvements in her life for Kaimoana, a hug for Panache and happy holibobs to Doodle and the Dude.

Cherry What the govt did is give money to charities and churches who already provided regular food boxes for 'the poor'.

Although only on a basic pension, I was not in that category.

My problem was accessing food, not being too poor to buy it. I had no transport as my homecare had been withdrawn and I don’t live near any shop. Nor were there supermarket slots for either delivery or pickup.
So I was stuck.

Twice I paid ‘a charity’ for poor quality, vastly overpriced vegetables but their delivery charges doubled the cost!

Waipareira Trust (the umbrella org of my elders group), started organising deliveries but it was a long time before it really got going and then due to the woman who didn't turn up to take me to the eye clinic, I was not put on the list.

My son would have willing delivered and indeed offered but they had a new baby and I forbade him to take that risk.

You may also have caught up with the fact that BoadiceaJones who lives just 255 km up the road from me, generously sent a box of fruits and eggs – which I fell on as one possessed.

It’s definitely getting worse. He’s had it a long time but a few months ago it got so bad he couldn’t sit still or lay down and spent much of the night just walking around. The GP prescribed some medication which worked wonders for a while but the effect is lessening over time. We hope his neurologist might have some ideas in December. We won’t see him Cherry as we know it will be a phone appointment. Not too much of a problem as the original reason for DH seeing him is pretty stable. Hoping he might be able to help with this new problem though.

Grammaretto you are brave to let the girls tackle the clear out but sometimes it’s the easiest thing. I tend to be one of those who thinks “that might be useful one day” or, I might just fit back into that again next year ?
Those deeds must turn up some time.
I never recommend cruising to anyone as a lot depends on who you cruise with, where you’re going and how you feel about it. For us, it suits us for many reasons. With DHs numerous health problems it is easier to get insurance cover.
We don’t want to fly anymore so cruise from the UK.
We like a quiet life, reading and gentle walks so adult only cruises with other old crocks like us. ?. Just have to be careful we don’t trip over the Zimmer frames or walking sticks ?
Kaimoana’s right Cherry you do make light of your health problems. Must be hard for you though.
Please keep taking the meds as we do want you and your Tigger tail with us for a long time.

Your bedding sounds nice. New bedding is on my list of things to do next year along with new window blinds. I’ve had enough of cleaning Venetian blinds and just want some ordinary roller blinds. I thought perhaps a plain bland colour for the blinds then I can go to town on the bedding.

Kaimoana, most of the time I just 'get on with it'. I've had epilepsy for over 24 years and yes seizures have put me through the mill but I'm used to most of what they throw at me. Recently - not so much but I think a lot of that has to do with my mindset after what went on earlier in the year, that and the death row extra medication I have to take after I've had a seizure. We all know that saying "keep taking the drugs and all will be well"" don't we? As if ?, but then again without them I wouldn't be here some may say good to swish my Tigger tail (tell the tale) ?

It's not just the NZ government who appears to have given up re.covid measures, I think there's a significant amount of that in many countries. In Wales it is stricter than in England but a lot freer than it was and the NHS in Wales is under severe strain.

I had my booster yesterday and spend two hours queuing in a never-ending winding sheep run. I'm only glad we had a nice hot casserole in the slow cooker to come home to as we were both wilting. To add insult to that injury I have nasty side effects. Oh hum, shouldn't moan - I am grateful to receive it ?

Doodle, I remembered that you asked what colour bedding we bought. For the spare room we bought a set that's taupe, white and charcoal grey (it's nicer than it sounds) and taupe sheets and for our room we bought a quite jazzy ? black, white and camel coloured set with camel sheets (also nicer than it sounds, very eye-catching).
I hope MrD does get to see his consultant in December too Doodle They all seem to be by telephone and there doesn't appear that that's something they are looking to change any time soon call me a cynic - okay you already have.

I'm a woman on a mission. I have filled the car twice now (and I mean filled) with relics of ages. I am trying to keep up with the French girls who have no emotional attachment to my treasure rubbish whatsoever but work fast.

It is what I wanted so I can't complain and the room is about a third clearer now.
All my abandoned hobbies are coming to light. The chair that I began to upholster, the box of fabric dyes for the wool I spun. The piano waiting to be tuned rehomed Lots of things to do with gardening for if we ever get another community garden.
No deeds as yet but I am checking everything before I put it in the car.

It should be cathartic. I haven't noticed yet.

Maybe I should book a cruise! I hope yours is wonderful Doodle

My DB & DSiL are recovering from it despite being vaccinated. Their DGbaby has not yet arrived. He is 10 days overdue but will come when ready.

She had a 120km round trip this week to take her DH to an appointment, plus she has French and Classics teaching on the go. Makes me feel breathless just writing it!

We are to have a slight relaxation of rules on 14th December, despite the daily, high infection numbers.

Frankly, I think the government has given up as a result of all the people who just won't stick to the rules.

Now it feels very much as if they are trying to beat out the flames with an old coat..and pretending it'll work.

They didn't stand a chance of keeping people in line once the good weather began.

They/we did our best.
The bat out of hell may be tamed a little but not caged.
I hope you all avoid the autumnal snotties and stay warm and toasty.

Oo yes I have been watching Shetland Doodle so many murrrders? one of the actors is the DD of one of my pottery club. The scenery is quite striking but if there are any more homicides it will be competing with Morse or Midsommer Murders.

The girls have been a wonderful help. Today I had them decluttering the room of doom. I can almost walk around the room now. I am giving them a day orf tomorrow. They have booked tickets to watch a musical in Edinburgh.
They made curry tonight on the electric rings. I have found another double ring so we manage rather well.
I will miss them when they leave next week. They are hiring a campervan and touring around Scotland for a week

It's been a hard week in Cherry Cove. I've had too many seizures to count but I am so glad I didn't end up in A&E. To cut a long story short, not for the first time I had a reaction to my prn medication. I can't win I think. I have more seizures if I don't take it but have horrible scary side effects if I do. I should be due to see (more likely telephone consultation) my consultant within the month so it's something we definitely need to discuss, that won't be for the first time either though ?

I've finally got my booster appointment, tomorrow teatime. The centre is in the middle of nowhere, goodness knows how some people manage to get there! Why do they have these things in such ridiculous places ?.

Evening all.
I didn’t sleep much last night. Nothing wrong other than my teeth don’t seem comfortable in my mouth anymore ?. Since I had my last crown, something isn’t right. When I get back from the cruise I will visit the dentist again and see what she can do. My mouth gets very dry at night due to the medication I take (yes I have been drinking more water Kaimoana ? but water doesn’t help). Went to the chemist today and bought some saliva lozenges. Will try one tonight and hope for a better night.
Went for a very long walk and then to collect DHs truckload of medications. Back home for lunch, hair wash, ironing, cleaning and now sitting.

Collecting falling leaves was one of our main reasons for moving too, that and mowing a very steep lawn.
Yes I did unpack the clothes ?. Washed ironed and hanging in the wardrobe waiting to go again. Didn’t unpack the shoes or toiletries though. I hasten to add we don’t usually cruise as often as this. It’s an accumulation of all our cancelled cruises coming one after the other.
We used to have a boat too that we had winterised. Just a small one. We never did it ourselves. It was all part of the fee from the boatyard. Yes, owning a boat is a very expensive business. We sold ours in the end and bought a caravan. Equally expensive for running costs. Not sure what it’s like where you live but “down south” there is not so much open space and mooring or caravan sites are very expensive.

I love your glassware Muse. Especially the red candle holder. So much talent. And the house. All pristine and clean. It almost makes me want to rush out and sweep leaves. Almost. We don't really have that many now. One of the reasons for us moving house was leaves. I'd been trying to persuade Himself we should downsize for ages, the one autumn he opened the back door and an enormous drift of leaves fell into the kitchen. And that was it. Just before we left I'd wandered nostalgically into our bit of woodland and saw a little new oak tree growing. Just two leaves. So I potted him up and brought him with us. He's over ten feet high now. Not quite tree hugging size, but getting there!

I can't believe you're off on another cruise already Doodle. Did you unpack? Or do you have a set of just for holiday clothes all sorted and ready to go?!

Our little boat is all ready to be lifted out for the winter. The yard does it all now- winterising the engine etc, lifting and covering. They've slowly done more and more as we get more decrepit. We took her up river last week to have the loo pumped out and top up the fuel - and it rained. Quite a lot. And was decidedly chilly. And it was then, when the windows were misting up, when we really needed the heater (which never has been brilliant) decided not to work. So we've added it to the list. Hopefully it's just the switch. We're finding that the saying about sailing being like standing in a cold shower tearing up £20 notes is quite relevant to elderly motor cruisers too!

Mamissimo, Hope you enjoyed seeing Tim Minchin. I remember seeing him around 2010 on British TV and was so impressed. Love his humour and musical talent. Crunchy nut cornflakes and banana is MrMuse's second favourite breakfast. Porridge is always the first choice + banana of course.

We have decided no more work outside as it is currently making lots of mess which takes forever to clear away. Inside the build has to take priority now. No news from my DS about his work worries but he did say he would contact me if news was bad. DD has an excellent counsellor who is clearly building up her confidence and self esteem.

I've seen the weather forecast for the end of the month and a cold spell is approaching and with it snow. Snow in Cornwall is a rarity.

Ours FF stopped working once when I left the door open a fraction. Got so warm it couldn’t cope and when we were on the point of changing it, it too started working. Either that or it realised it was being replaced and didn’t want to leave you. Good to hear it’s now working again.

Oh dear Jan that's not good is it, to hear sad news about two people you care about.

I watched Hamilton, the film of the show, which was very good once you got into it and used to the rap format on my DS tv and then had a nice bowl of homemade parsnip soup followed by rhubarb crumble.
The DGC played their instruments (clarinet and flute) and gt gran made it up and down the steep stairs to the flat. She is a trooper!
My DS is about to go and work in Ireland so that is a bit of a concern shock.

The autumn colours are so pretty. Here are the little Birnum oak trees, I planted from acorns last year. You will have to imagine them as my photo wizardry is not working.

At 7:18 this morning my fridge freezer, after 3 totally dormant days, suddenly started humming and now, 8 hours later, is absolutely fine.
