I avoid people , simple as , apart from family ! 18 months of government brainwashing has taken its toll . I've had my jabs , don't want another , will take my chance for the timebeing !
Problems in Harry and Meghan Marriage
It seems that that the scientists (for those interested John Campbell has the references on you tube) have come to the decision that herd immunity is not possible with the Delta+ variant, and that is is now endemic in society, and that everyone will almost certainly get it.
Boosters, Vit D and a good level of health are our lines of defence. Testing will cease as no point. Argument that there is no point in vaccinating children.
Let’s hope that eventually it will become just another common cold type of virus, but at present it is still pretty unpleasant.
Oh well, I do hope people will continue to mitigate by wearing masks, good ventilation etc, but I fear not.

cupcake1 I find it very hard to wear a mask. As soon as I put it on I start to panic, I'm soaked in sweat, I struggle to breathe. And I loose all coordination. And all that for something I was told at the beginning made no difference

What is so hard about wearing a mask FFS?! They may be a bit of a hindrance to some but if there’s only a slight chance of reducing infection for yourself or others surely it’s the right thing to do! There are far worse things to get your a** in your hand about. I for one will continue wearing them and do everything I can to avoid getting it but will not completely shut myself off from everything. We do not want another lockdown that would be disastrous but a return of some rules hands, face, space etc would be welcome- by me anyway.
Well said that lady.
I do also think there has been a change in perception of the risk last year before vacination I was very concerned about catching covid it didn't stop me going out or meeting family but it was always there
After vacination that risk is less I no longer fear it I may well catch it but that sense of dread has gone
And yes you have to think of others but you can't pass on what you don't have I test regularly
I will still wear a mask in crowded areas but nowhere else
I sat in a car with my son for 3 hours when he unknowingly had covid, did all his washing and hugged him and sat with him whilst he said it was most probably just hayfever before he tested positive.
I was hoping I hadn't caught it because the vaccine worked
I do think I had covid last February though
Gagajo My DH has a great saying (sometimes used in relation to my much loved mother) 'She has made up her mind. Do not confuse her with facts'
Your facts are irrefutable, but our non-maskers will never believe them.
My take on wearing masks.
At the boarding school I worked at, there was an anti masker. He was my male counterpart in the boys boarding house. Most of the boys followed his example and didn't wear masks. I was a fervent masker.
We had a covid outbreak in boarding.
93% of the boys, following the non-masker's example got covid.
Only 15% of the girls, most of whom wore their masks at my insistence, got covid.
The older girls and I took meals & collected laundry to/from the boarding students & the male staff member with covid during the outbreak. We all wore our FFP3 masks and wore gloves. NONE of us contracted covid.
The day BEFORE we realised there was a covid outbreak, I had 121 close contact with 4 of the infected students (private English lessons). Wore my FFP3 mask. Didn't catch it.
I KNOW I didn't catch it because I had 2 antibody tests.

Selfish or ill-informed or both?
Loved your thread about your teeth though that made me chuckle ??
I suppose Cupcake some just don't want to they do not believe they make much difference they no longer feel at risk numerous reasons

We are not long back from a Dobies garden centre, we wore masks but probably only 30% of people in there had them on , including staff.

I decided I love masks,I have aged so much in the last couple of years,so many wrinkles (am 75 this month)the masks cover most of them !
That made me laugh I am waiting for a new front plate because my old one has become very uncomfortable so I can nip in a shop without bothering to put my teeth in
But on the whole I hate the ruddy things especially in the heat
None at all.
Been proved that wearing a mask is detrimental to health but no proof they prevent any infections
I wish this information was more widely known. Could you please post a link? My daughter and her NHS colleagues who wear them for the duration of their 12 hour shifts will be interested to read about it ?
Add Olivia to the team of pranksters.
How about a competition to see who can make the most ludicrous claim about COVID and prevention strategies without proving it.
I bet we can make invent - and more convincing - tosh than Chrissy and Biscuitmuncher, their statements really are rather banal and unimaginative.
Mask wearing can cause COVID because if you have the virus, instead of being able to breathe it out and away, you are breathing it into the mask and then breathing it back in again, which is why you end up with Long Covid.
This could be a great game and if Chrissy and Biscuitmuncher join us, what fun we could have!

If the figures are to be believed and the virus is as contagious as stated, then we have probably all had it at some stage anyway. And if so, we have the antibodies, which is exactly what the vaccines are supposed to do.
Yet still there is this fear mongering that continues unabated by supermarkets and government departments. Shopkeepers continue to wear masks simply to appease those still living in fear and believing the mask will actually keep them alive.
Flu has always been something that reduces the power of the immune system and death in the vulnerable often occurs. Covid, whilst more volatile, does the same. we need to live with it, the same as we did with flu. No one was forced to have the flu jab, no passports were necessary and the vaccines were to protect those that took the jab, not those that came into contact with them.
And let's not forget that all cases of flu have been added to the covid figures. It is time to get rid of the fear element stop the sensationalism from the media.
I take it you have not had covid badly or lost a relative then ?
But clearly plenty of selfish people around who don’t want the slightest inconvenience.
Just nipped into Waitrose and saw 15 people with no mask on including the security guy,
“ Been proved that wearing a mask is detrimental to health but no proof they prevent any infections.”. Where ? By whom ?
Absolute baloney
we have probably all had it at some stage anyway.
No we haven't
And let's not forget that all cases of flu have been added to the covid figures.
No they weren't
I do not think Chrissy08 like Biscuitmuncher will ever reply, they never do, because at the end of the day they know they are talking a lot of tosh and only do it to annoy because they know it teases www.goodreads.com/quotes/44151-speak-roughly-to-your-little-boy-and-beat-him-when
Except, of course it doesn't (tease), just amuses us.
I agree with this.
Also I see not wearing a mask as a selfish act. I was speaking to someone today who is immuno supressed , people refusing to wear masks in public indoor spaces makes it so much more difficult for her to go anywhere.
Biscuitmuncher
All you mask lovers, what good did they actually do?
**Without them case numbers would be considerably higher with the consequent increase in deaths and incidence of long covid.
Now I'll reverse your silly question and ask you what harm do they do?**
Chrissy08 can you give sources for your claim? Would you want to be operated in by unmasked surgeons and nurses. If not, why not?

Where is your evidence. How can you say masks are detrimental to health, as an asthmatic, I have worn them at work and since this pandemic began, without any problem. It is also proven that they do not inhibit oxygen supply to the lungs.
Handwashing, not always practiced I would guess at, sneezing, coughing, and ignoring symptoms are the cause of the continued spread.
