I know six people who have had covid recently. Five were double vaccinated. The sixth one was was a twelve year old girl. She has not been too ill though she is still coughing, but the others were pretty ill. Five did not need to be hospitalised. But the sixth person did and died. These people were largely shielding and wearing masks. One thinks he got it in a taxi. Another thinks he may have got it in a supermarket or on a bus where people were not wearing masks. I don’t think it interferes significantly with lives or businesses if the public wear masks indoors. It enables older and more vulnerable people to have a little more chance to also have some life experiences. I was at a day clinic in hospital recently. All staff and patients were wearing masks and distanced while waiting. But in the cafeteria area, all the tables were full of people sitting crammed together cheerfully eating and drinking and chatting their heads off. Many seemed elderly and overweight, both supposedly risk factors.
