News channels reporting with the increase of covid infections saying we should be all returning to face mask wearing...how do GNs feel if/when it becomes compulsory again?

You know me GG13, I like to be up to date with my data wink

Never stopped wearing it in shops etc and on the rare occasions that I forget my mask I either use my coat collar or I buy new masks.

I feel safer that way and hope I am keeping others safe too.

My friends young grandson is seriously ill with it so it can affect anyone.

Not selective, just googled and it came up Alegrias1 and obviously data is constantly changing.

Yes no problems with this, bring it back, compulsory

TheMaggiejane1 Fri 22-Oct-21 11:30:50

Yes, in shops, restaurants and other indoor places. I don’t use public transport at the moment. We plucked up the courage to use up some theatre tickets we’d got ages ago for Milton Keynes theatre and I was amazed at how few people wore masks. It was a matinee performance so most of the audience were 60-70 I would say. The theatre ‘strongly advised’ people to wear masks but didn’t enforce it at all. I even heard the group of women sitting behind us say ‘Oh we can take our masks off now that we sitting down can’t we’. I wanted to turn around and ask them if they thought germs only circulated while you were standing up but didn’t want their germs in my face!

Yes. It is the law here in Scotland, but we still wore them last week when we were in England.

I always wear one in communal places and shops but not outside if I can socially distance.

This is from oneworlddata.com showing the four nations of the U.K.
England’s rate is less than the other three who have mandatory face coverings.

A wee bit selective in our data there GG13. Although the graph is tiny it appears to stop at the beginning of October?

Since then Scotland's rates have fallen below England's and England is probably very soon going to overtake Northern Ireland. Wales is higher, probably as Casdon has said before, affected by the issue at the testing lab.

I live in Wales, it hasn't stopped being compulsory indoors in shops etc, can't see a problem

I still wear mine, its personal choice at the moment but I do believe they give some protection for ourselves and others. Especially when I see people sneezing and coughing in shops with no care for those around them. Having just recovered from Covid myself I am keen to ensure that I keep as many of my germs to myself so others who could be more vulnerable do not get infected with Covid, cold or flu…

Lesley60 Fri 22-Oct-21 11:27:43

I haven’t stopped wearing one since the first outbreak of covid, you can’t be to careful it’s only a small thing to do and hopefully it will protect us in some small way along with the jabs

No

Widnesbabcia Fri 22-Oct-21 11:26:28

Right now l am sitting on a bus wearing one.. I am the only person doing so though..and that includes the driver

Rowsie Fri 22-Oct-21 11:26:18

I still wear one in shops and on public transport. Since the original lockdown I have never had a cold and I am sure this is because of the masks and I am happy for this to continue.

JdotJ Fri 22-Oct-21 11:25:33

No

Mumofthree Fri 22-Oct-21 11:25:30

I've never stopped wearing one.

maddyone Fri 22-Oct-21 11:24:35

I don’t know why people object to them, it’s hardly difficult to wear one around the supermarket or inside buildings after all. Yes, I know they steam up glasses, but I’ve bought a cloth from Amazon that helps with that. The windows steam up in a car in winter, but nobody says they’re not going to use their car all winter because it steams up. They buy a demisting cloth and use it.
The latest evidence is that masks offer protection to both the wearer and other people.

Arty2 Fri 22-Oct-21 11:24:20

I live in Wales so we are still wearing masks.
I really think they protect people so yes, people
should wear them weather ministers say to or not.

Silvertwigs Fri 22-Oct-21 11:23:42

I will do what ever I’m advised to do to stay well.

Urmstongran Fri 22-Oct-21 11:20:34

Interesting GG13 puts a different slant on things.

One does have to wonder about masks, stuffed in pockets or handbags like used tissues - then thrown into ordinary bins. Or dropped on the pavements. Most people I see don’t wear them properly anyway. Some call this virtue signalling. Some scientists say they’re as much use as a tennis court net against a sandstorm. I’m no expert. I will wear one if requested is all.

TheKevin20 Fri 22-Oct-21 10:01:36

I've never stopped. Always carry disinfectant gel in the car, or disinfectant wipes in bags. Also, masks, ditto.
I live in a very rural area, but I believe in being careful. I'm 76, survived malaria and all sorts of child and adult transferable illnesses. I don't want to be caught in the last furlong! grin

VioletSky Fri 22-Oct-21 09:52:29

Yes still wearing one, thank you to everyone else who does too.
