News channels reporting with the increase of covid infections saying we should be all returning to face mask wearing...how do GNs feel if/when it becomes compulsory again?

I had stopped but will be starting again from this morning.

Yes I am. Probably just as well as I tested positive a couple of weeks ago, and I was on public transport and in shops that day.

Can we please not try to turn this into yet another other countries good, UK bad thread though? If DH and I and our DS and two of the DGS had not had routine tests, we would not have known we had Covid from our symptoms. Other countries with their much lower levels of testing will have higher infection rates that are just not being picked up.

In Wales we’re still wearing masks, we haven’t ever stopped.

I never stopped wearing a mask. My daughter had Covid and it left her with terrible hearing issues. She had tinnitus and a popping in her ears that took many months to clear up. I don’t wish it on anyone and will continue to do everything I can to avoid spreading it.

I wear a face mask when I’m out in public places, and I’m astounded by how many people don’t bother, despite the rising numbers of positive cases. There have been several studies that have shown that face masks do provide protection to both the wearer and other people. Someone posted a link on another thread only yesterday about the latest report which apparently said that face masks do give some protection to the wearer.

I can’t see a problem with wearing a mask, yes, they’re uncomfortable but it is for the common good. I do wish this government would make them mandatory again,

I wear a mask when I go out. I don't know why you wouldn't.

Sorry didn’t post photo

Hmm

lemsip Thu 21-Oct-21 22:35:47

I have continued to wear a mask and think it should be made mandatory again..

Masks are still needed inside places here in France and local markets ask people to wear one. Restaurants all check the Covid passes and you are expected to wear your mask other than when sitting at your table. Sanitising takes place between customers - most restaurants only use a table once per opening session so not a big problem.
The supermarkets expect everyone to wear a mask and many places do have a sign up saying they are obligatory. Sanitiser is available inside most places and trollies are regularly cleaned.
The third dose vaccinations are well underway also.

I work with men {confused]

JaneJudge Thu 21-Oct-21 22:21:39

i wish they'd just make them compulsory in/out of work etc unless people cannot wear them and hand gel/alcohol wash spray for hand by doors ffs at least

I work with en, some of them smell like they have never looked at a shower, let alone had one

I normally wear a mask in shops, but today I arrived outside a supermarket and realised I'd forgotten to put one in my handbag. I was horribly embarrassed, even though I wasn't the only customer without a mask and did try to maintain a safe distance as the store wasn't very busy at the time and there wasn't a queue at the checkout. I have now loaded my handbag with new masks.

Smurf52 Thu 21-Oct-21 22:11:23

Well I must say since mask wearing became compulsory and gel hand washing everywhere recommended, I've not had a cold (touch wood!) That's got to be worth something.

mokryna Thu 21-Oct-21 22:04:17

Not sky high

mokryna Thu 21-Oct-21 22:03:39

Most people wear them here and the numbers are sky high a the moment. Better safe than sorry.

Caleo Thu 21-Oct-21 21:31:45

Poshpaws, I wish you a happiness for the future.

Caleo Thu 21-Oct-21 21:29:29

When I go out in public I will wear a top quality mask and also a perspex shield to protect my eyes.

Grammaretto Thu 21-Oct-21 21:28:52

That is terrible Poshpaws. You have had a lot to deal with.

I lost my DH last year, to cancer and his father 2 weeks later with covid, caught in hospital.
It feels awful when people trivialise it.

When I go shopping yes I wear a mask and when travelling on a train.

BBbevan Thu 21-Oct-21 20:54:18

Yes. They are still mandatory in shops, libraries etc in Wales

Harris27 Thu 21-Oct-21 20:50:12

Yes I’m still wearing a one. Too dubious about it not too.

highlanddreams Thu 21-Oct-21 20:42:57

I still wear a mask and still sanitise my hands, but I'm really fed up of the number of tourists I see going into the local shops here not doing either, it makes me wish we were still in full lockdown and they weren't here at all.

Zoejory Thu 21-Oct-21 20:36:28

I wear a mask if I have to. My daughter loves wearing a mask. Keeps her face warm. I don't see many mask wearers in shops these days though.
