I look after my DGS full-time. He's at nursery in the mornings.

Today, one of my DD's friends (and her husband) have tested positive for Covid. They have two children who they are still planning to send into nursery.

I'm not sending my DGS into nursery because of this. I'm so angry about these idiots.

As my DD said, these parents won't be the only ones. No wonder the virus is spreading.

This carelessness is the prime reason for the never ending and wide spreading of this pandemic. In my opinion the school must have been closed considering the safety of other children.

luluaugust, yes, everyone has their own opinion on things. My eldest daughter thinks that any attempts to 'avoid the virus' are pretty futile (laughable, even) yet still tests, wears masks, socially distances etc. to 'be polite'.

She says that, obviously, the official advice just aims for herd immunity, always has, with any restrictions meant to slow down/limit peaks of infection, to help the NHS. I believe she's right. She always judges by actions, rather than words.

Most (younger) people I know now seem to be resigned to catching Omicron, albeit still taking reasonable precautions. I’m going for a walk with my son and the grandchildren on Saturday but will wear a mask. I have reached the point where I need to lead a slightly more normal life, having shielded myself fir so long. I hardly leave the house, even to walk the dog and am struggling to have normal conversations with people! I think Storm Arwen was the final straw given that I didn’t even feel safe at home at that time.

Also the virus does not always spread my grandson tested positive in the afternoon He had been at my house spending time with his grandad and myself He had also spent plenty of time with his dad and his younger brother none of us got it
We all did lft tests for a week not so much of a sniffle.
I do think my son must be very immune He has spent time with several of his friends who have tested positive but he still remains virus free

DGS tested positive on a LFT so DD took the whole family for PCRs. She phoned the school and was told that if she didn't send her younger child into school while waiting for the test result it would be counted as an unauthorised absence.
Why do the rest of us bother as the rules are bonkers?

It is clear that some people, like my son and rosie’s son seem to have developed immunity without ever being ill or testing positive. The jabs they’ve had may be responsible or they’ve met the virus and developed immunity independently. My son spent a golf weekend with four friends back in the summer. They had all been double jabbed. All four tested positive the next week, but my son consistently tested negative.

Maybe the rules are bonkers to some but nevertheless they exist. We can’t criticise people who follow these rules. We can only make our own decisions in these matters. It’s fair to say that we can’t go on isolating forever and must consider our mental as well as physical health.
