A million jabs a day?

I know that there was always going to be a rush after the recent news/statement but things are not off to a good start. Locally our general hospital has shut the walk in facility as they only have one member of staff to operate it. The website does not reflect this so people are still turning up. If it's such a priority why not draft in more staff? I am wondering if the million jabs a day is looking a bit optimistic? Has this been thought through?

One million jabs a day is completely impossible for the NHS to deliver, quite apart from the distraction of fending off those with other conditions in order to run the centres. And GP surgeries were given 12 hours notice to implement this!

They have been aware since the end of November that boosters were to be increased. Yorkshire Health have stated it can be done. Less propaganda, more listening to those on the ground. Lucky I don’t live in the South where things seem to absolutely dire, possibly due to those that refused vaccines, and are now desperate to have them ,delaying booster vaccination. According to family same happened in their part of Germany, when people realised their freedom from daily life was due to be curtailed by vaccine passports for everywhere to visit. Soa rush for vaccines started, now their boosters delayed until January. ,

I think the government will cover themselves with a million invitations a day. Whether or not these invitees can manage to get an actual appointment is another matter. I suspect 'impossible' but hope to be wrong.

They are not doing invitations now everybody over the age of 18 can get their booster if enough time has elapsed since their 2nd vaccination
I believe yesterday they did nearly 800,000 boosters

Wow, on the BBC news just now, three quarters of a million boosters (or vaccinations) given yesterday. Well done to our wonderful NHS and all the volunteers.

Yes well done them, but no thanks to the PM who says it can be done without working out how.

Mr A and I had our boosters about a week ago. Booked two days earlier. No queues, just lots of people turning up for their appointments. Checks in, five minute wait, booster, 15 minute wait. All very orderly. One of the helpers said they had been busy all day with appointments and people just turning up on the off chance.

They are recruiting more vaccinators now...I have applied. The problem before was a tortuous recruitment procedure I hope it's sorted now. I only need a refresher as a retired nurse not a degree course with a side order of riot control.
