Chris Whitty for PM

You can tell who the country trusts. People no longer look at Boris Johnson on TV and ask themselves why is this liar lying to me. They already know why. Boris lies because he knows no other way of interacting. Deceit is his default setting. It’s not just the past that is a foreign country; it’s also the present. Truth and Boris have never been on speaking terms. So when Chris Whitty and the prime minister hold a press conference together, there’s only one person to whom the country is listening.

I think he's too sensible to want the job!

GagaJo Thu 16-Dec-21 22:53:22

Absolutely. But my god, I take my hat off to him. I've got a serious case of hero worship.

Sat listening to him this morning. Informative & interesting noticeably more so, without Boris in the background.
Clear, factual information delivered in a calm manner. ?
Clever men - especially scientists are so attractive.

Only an overly ambitious politician would want the job. Damned if you do and damned if you don’t. A poisoned chalice.

Him!! We would never be allowed to do anything again!

The Queen and many others are taking more notice of Chris Whitty than Johnson and cancelling pre Christmas parties.

Ailidh Fri 17-Dec-21 06:48:15

Chris Whitty has been my hero from Day One.

Calendargirl Fri 17-Dec-21 07:19:53

Always think Chris Witty looks like he needs looking after. I imagine him trudging home after his news conferences to a lonely bachelor flat, and boiling an egg for his supper.?

(I think he’s not married, but could be wrong. He probably has a wife and several children!)

Whitewavemark2 Fri 17-Dec-21 07:35:29

The evil Tory cabal is attacking him like mad.

My goodness the sooner we get rid of them the better.

EllanVannin Fri 17-Dec-21 07:43:07

I'd vote Liberal if it meant getting back into the EU.

EllanVannin Fri 17-Dec-21 07:46:13

The only reason that BJ got in power was because of those who voted Brexit ( rolls eyes ) Let's get back into the EU again !

He would be a disaster. As impervious to how people respond and feel about things as Boris. You can have the best science in the world, but if you cannot take people with you and ruin the economy.

Politics is the art of the possible, not of the rigid 'good for you'.

?? it is serious

I’m another who listens to Chris Whitty, believes what he says and follows his advice.
I don’t think he’d be a great PM but my young Labrador would make a better job of it than Johnson.

love0c Fri 17-Dec-21 08:34:20

I perish the thought!

GagaJo Fri 17-Dec-21 08:40:13

Yes Iam64. At least he's honest about his priorities!

Sparklefizz Fri 17-Dec-21 08:45:22

Yes, I like Chris Whitty, but I really liked that Army guy who spoke a couple of times at the press conferences earlier in the year while wearing fatigues. Can't remember his name but he filled me with confidence.

JenniferEccles Fri 17-Dec-21 09:23:44

Don’t forget, calm and knowledgeable as he is, Chris Whitty is only focusing on the virus.
The PM, whatever you think of him, has the unenviable job of mitigating the effects of both the virus and the economy.

Really, who envies him?

Alegrias1 Fri 17-Dec-21 09:26:03

We don't have to envy him to wish that he was doing a better job.

Galaxy Fri 17-Dec-21 09:27:00

I am voting for Iam64's labrador. I have complete confidence in them.
