However I put this it’s going to sound sexist and it’s not at all, I had a wonderful father have a great son and lovely hard working sensible grandsons but …..
Listening to a radio ring in this morning it’s was basically all men ringing in saying I m not having the third injection (or
I m not having any injections or I m not carrying medical records) because I m not going to be told what to do!
When I watched the news last night of the demonstrations in London, it was all men screaming, shouting and threatening dreadful violence to the police what is it with some men is it the education status, is it their egos …... ?
I m not saying no women are acting so ridiculously but certainly this morning every ring in was a VERY belligerent sounding man
Don’t shoot me I m as far from a man hater as the moon is from me but it is a conversational observation

I think its an invalid sampling system to base a comment on A) people who call phone ins and B) the subset of people who are chosen to speak on air......same as demonstrations and what is televised.

I'm fully vaccinated as are my family. My BFF won't have the vaccine and is sceptical as to whether covid isn't just a variety of flu.
My DD has covid atm and is very ill despite being fully vaccinated.
My DGD caught it a month ago and was quite poorly despite having one jab (due to age)
Those conspiracy theorists make me sick. If they could see how ill some people are with it they would know its real.
Having said that I do think everyone has the right to refuse any medical treatment as that is a basic human right.

Think there are as many women against it as men ,I'm one of them ,lots of women can't just go and protest as have family commitments

I think women just have more sense than to shout about it all over the radio. IMHO anyaway.

icanhandthemback Mon 20-Dec-21 12:11:04

Maybe women are exactly the same but they are too busy to ring in to shows. grin

Fair enough, Baggs flowers. To be fair, we all thought he was just being difficult until he was diagnosed. It's still hard work, but knowing that he doesn't mean it does help.

FarNorth Sun 19-Dec-21 19:39:47

And what did they reply to that BlueBelle?

Baggs

Pathological Demand Avoidance, otherwise known as severe bloody-mindedness. There are fairly sympathetic articles online (from psychologists, I believe) about this condition.

That is a diagnosable condition, on the Autism spectrum. It has nothing to do with bloody-mindedness. A relative of mine has it and it makes life very difficult for him (and his parents). Fortunately, when people are open-minded about it and don't write him off as 'bloody-minded' he is able to try to use the strategies he's learning in an attempt to deal with it. He's 7.

It feels like bloody-mindedness, dood. Though I agree that you are right, which is why I mentioned the sympathetic articles by People Who Know flowers

Yes very much so farnorth and more plain speaking about their decisions for family and population as whole etc I can’t fault the presenter

BlueBelle Sun 19-Dec-21 17:24:26

I really didn’t post this to have a go at men however tongue in cheek and of course it wasn’t anything to do with lazy husbands it was simple shocking to hear all these men bother to ring in to a programme this morning to completely talk down the vaccines and really anything to do with fighting this virus and yes of course I know there are women anti Vaxers it’s just these men one after the other were so vehement and down right ignorant in their rants

FarNorth Sun 19-Dec-21 17:20:48

BlueBelle was it put to them that they risk serious illness or death?

maddyone Sun 19-Dec-21 17:14:10

I have to confess that dear husband is busy in the kitchen making a delicious roast chicken dinner pour moi. And I’m wasting time on Gransnet grin

Welcome to the club Doodledog.

Haha, I like your description Calistemon, rather resistant to doing as he is bid and it’s an excellent description of my dear husband too. On the other hand he’s very happy to lots of things, including helping others, when he’s not been bid to do it. In other words, contrary!

Yes, a volunteer is better than two pressed men, as the saying goes!

He volunteered to chop an onion and peel potatoes but has settled down to watch Countryfile hmm

Doodledog Sun 19-Dec-21 17:10:38

I meant the club of wives of men with Contrary Syndrome, for avoidance of doubt!

Maybe Nicki Minaj didn’t help much by tweeting about vaccines and the effect it had on one man.

I don’t think it’s just men, the anti vac rallies seem to show plenty of women too...
I thought this thread was going to be about DH’s refusing to hoover round.?

grin
Or tidy up their stuff!

DH is rather resistant to doing as he is bid (having spent much of his his career bidding others!) but he has had his vaccinations and the booster too.
He knows it's the sensible thing to do.

I was more hesitant about the booster (quietly, without taking to the streets protesting).

Years ago I had a boyfriend who said he'd got sick of being told what to do at home so he left ..... and joined the Army! confused I never could work that one out.

My brother had the first two and has refused the booster. "They'll want us to have one every year before you know it, just like the flu jab!"

What can you say.....

When I tell ask my husband to do something, he often says don’t try to control me! I’m not trying to control him, I’m asking him to do something, like put his tools away because they’ve been in the kitchen for the last two weeks. He’s hates being told asked to do something, but he’d never, ever join a demonstration and act in an anti social way as many men do.

Lincslass Sun 19-Dec-21 16:27:59

Some men, lots of women, especially online are strident anti vaccine, and conspiracy theorists. Six of one half a dozen of another. www.livescience.com/61305-most-online-anti-vaxxers-are-women.html
