Do you think his exemption from covid vaccination is a bit odd? I understand Australians are not happy about letting him into the country and the likelihood is that he will be booed when he plays according to Andrew Castle.

We don't want him here, why should he be an exception to the rules. There was an article about his not telling the truth about why he couldn't be vaccinated and his papers not being legitimate.

Sounds like Djokovic has difficulty in recognising the truth shock

Going on Oprah? That means he’ll only talk about * his* truth.

Unless he can show that he has never been vaccinated for anything, I assume he paid for the exemption and should have been expelled.

Recollections may vary ?

This has probably been mentioned in previous posts but his reason for claiming exemption was because he tested positive on 16th Dec and therefore couldn’t be vaccinated, I thought you had to have 2 vaccinations before entering Australia. He must have known he couldn’t possibly fulfil the vaccination rules by the time he entered Australia as I assume you still have to wait the appropriate time between each jab.
Like everyone else I’m sick of reading about this but wait with bated breath to see the outcome.
My friend and her husband have not seen her family in Australia for over 2 years despite fulfilling all the vaccinations requirements.

If he is entitled to a medical exemption then so be it. But IF he is, I don't understand why he has been detained!!!

Which rather suggests that he isn't entitled to a medical exemption presumably. So if that is the case then he should not expect any different treatment!

Because the medical exemption is to play in the tournament and is nothing to do with being granted entry into Australia.

I’m in Australia Our Government is so unreliable
Just a few months ago they let a whole football team and their families into Queensland
Now they are doing the opposite to another high ranking athlete
Is you ask me they don’t know their ar..e from their head!!!!

You are talking about State borders here not International ones.

He's not being detained!
He is free to leave at any time.

All he has to do is abide by the rules. It is very simple.

His family are completely OTT with their reaction, as are the people out on the streets.

Is part of Novax's problem that not many people like him anyway?
Apart from a few fans and his Mum and Dad?

sad

Chicken and egg situation I guess. People don’t like him because he dies things like what he’s doing now.

I'm guessing ND is going to win this case and probably go on to win the Australian Open

One unrelated thing it has highlighted is the conditions in which ordinary detainees are held and no doubt they need much improvement.

silverlining48 Mon 10-Jan-22 06:36:44

Just been announced he has won the appeal and should be released on a few minutes.

BlueBelle Mon 10-Jan-22 06:37:36

He’s won his case

Although he thought he was exempt as he’d had CoviD there are pictures showing him out and about when he was supposed to be ill
He just thought he was too big to be approached

Jaxjacky Mon 10-Jan-22 06:54:38

I’m not surprised, but disappointed.

Mollygo Mon 10-Jan-22 07:29:36

What a triumph for the antivaxers! Just shows, if you’re a big enough name, you can do what you like.

MayBeMaw Mon 10-Jan-22 08:07:56

So the breaking news is that he has won his battle to stay in Australia. hmm
All I can say to Grans who have not seen their children or grandchildren for over two years, is you’d better brush up your tennis as that seems to be the way in . ?

We may just as well throw in the towel. This will boost the anti-vaxxers no end, whilst those of us who have had our full quota of jabs and follow the rules are still living with restrictions. Fed up with it all.
