Do you think his exemption from covid vaccination is a bit odd? I understand Australians are not happy about letting him into the country and the likelihood is that he will be booed when he plays according to Andrew Castle.

In the meantime he's under guard in the airport.
Could be uncomfortable and boring.

Lucca Wed 05-Jan-22 22:44:40

Not over yet . Could be an appeal.

Yes, good decision on behalf of the people of Oz. Of course, money always comes into it. NJ playing would have brought in a lot of punters and hence a lot of money.

Good for them - out he goes!

MayBee70 Wed 05-Jan-22 21:46:02

People that have had Delta or Alpha can still catch Omicron and pass it on. I’m glad he’s not going to be allowed to play. Arrogant man.

Yeesss, well done Australian government ???

It will be appealed, but great.

That is probably one answer.

I'm just playing Devil's Advocate, aren't I and irritated because cricketers and tennis players plus actors are there and I'm not.

I feel your anguish, FaceTime is just not the same.

No, it's not!

Calistemon Wed 05-Jan-22 15:24:23

It was all rather a shambles last year because of Covid and should never have taken place then.

Who rules - the Australian Government or the ATP?

If I were Australian and endured the strict shutdown they have, I would be furious if he is allowed to stay. Put him on the next flight back and get payment up front. No nonsense. He has no consideration for the country he is in, what arrogance. I can’t see them standing for it. Being a sportsman is more than the technicalities of the game.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 05-Jan-22 15:15:15

You’re absolutely entitled to feel irritated Calistemon. I think it’s a fix and hope it’s proved to be.

Perhaps like the effects of vaccination the antibodies wane over time? On a general note, it must be far cheaper to vaccinate people than test them all for antibodies?

Calistemon Wed 05-Jan-22 15:01:29

Our late teen GD had Covid in summer 2020, she has tested positive for anti-bodies and therefore reluctant to have the vaccine (studying in mainland Europe) the only way she can come to U.K. is to be vaccinated which she has now agreed to

You see, I find this strange, GrannyGravy.
Why does someone with antibodies have to have a vaccination?

Calistemon Wed 05-Jan-22 14:59:40

No idea, Germanshepherdsmum but the situation prompted my question.
It isn't offered as an alternative anywhere and I wonder why.

I asked this before I heard about Djokovic but there are no answers.

I'm not defending him in the slightest because I'm not at all keen on him and think he is arrogant.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 05-Jan-22 14:52:54

If it’s the case that he doesn’t require vaccination because his body has produced antibodies after an earlier infection why is it being kept so secret?

GrannyGravy13 Wed 05-Jan-22 14:51:26

Calistemon

How can he have a medical exemption yet be fit enough to play tennis at that level?

However, I do have one question:

If the vaccines prompt a response by the immune system to produce antibodies, could someone who has had Covid have a similar level of antibodies as a vaccinated person?
If so, why would they need to be triple vaccinated?

I still believe there are a lot of unanswered questions about Covid.

What an arrogant man.

Calistemon Wed 05-Jan-22 14:35:13

I'm not saying that I think he should be allowed into Australia (I haven't seen my family since 2019 either), just that I wonder why more antibody testing is not carried out.

Scott Morrison isn’t happy about this decision and there was talk on the one o’clock news that Djokovic could be put on the next plane out of Australia.
We haven’t heard the last of this.

Germanshepherdsmum Wed 05-Jan-22 14:06:18

You only have to pretend Lucca. I hope you’re soon completely recovered.?

Lucca Wed 05-Jan-22 13:41:46

Germanshepherdsmum

You can use that excuse for ages Lucca, call it long covid!?

I’d prefer that my Covid just went away !

Whitewavemark2 Wed 05-Jan-22 13:31:25

Chippy individual I think.
