Why do you think immunity by vaccination is fleeting but natural immunity is forever?

Urmstongran Tue 15-Mar-22 21:11:45

But isn’t it better for the majority to catch this new (milder even than Omicron) variant and benefit from some natural antibodies? Boosters by comparison will need administering every few months. Isn’t it time to ‘let it rip’ for what it’s worth? Obviously immunosuppressed vulnerable people might prefer to be more cautious - as they probably were for years with ‘flu.

I for one am glad! I have never known so many people to have covid since the whole thing began - almost every second person I know either seems to have it or have someone in their family with it. I won't be ditching my mask any time soon.

FarNorth Tue 15-Mar-22 20:41:24

That type of thing is why I'd be very reluctant to use public transport floradora.

Blossoming Tue 15-Mar-22 20:39:24

I’m still wearing a mask in shops. I don’t often use public transport but I will wear a mask. Most people here are doing the same. It’s really no big deal.

You seem surprised germanshepherds mum I am a very sensible practical person...whats to disagree with?

Floradora9 Tue 15-Mar-22 20:24:55

On a bus journey of over an hour lots of people with no masks and the driver ignored the fact .

Germanshepherdsmum Tue 15-Mar-22 17:29:10

Good grief Paddy, I’m agreeing with you. Must have a lie down.

Does anyone know what is causing the spike?

A new sub variant of Omicron, it's more infectious.

Pepper59 Tue 15-Mar-22 17:07:22

People's hygiene on public transport is questionable and it's usually the non masked who cough and splutter all over the place and none of them know what a handkerchief is. I will be keeping my mask on whether it's a requirement or not. Does anyone know what is causing the spike? The media here also has a deafening silence over what is happening in China with the latest Covid 19 outbreak there. Wishing it to go away, doesn't mean it will.

Marydoll Tue 15-Mar-22 17:00:50

I'm on the train too after the meet up and nearly everyone is wearing masks. It's not a big ask!

Grandmabatty Tue 15-Mar-22 16:54:12

I was on a train twice today (in Scotland) and nearly everyone was wearing a mask. There was no fuss about it. I don't see the issue. You wearing a mask is protecting others. I'm happy to do so.

paddyann54 Tue 15-Mar-22 16:44:57

Its not a problem .most places I go the majority of people wear them .Its hardly a big ask to wear a mask for a wee while to avoid the spread of a virus that is still very much out there .The media WILL catastophise it though ,thats what they do with every Scotgov announcement .
For the record LilacChaser your very welcome here ,just stick with the rules and you'll be fine

LilacChaser Tue 15-Mar-22 16:36:41

And, yet again, I'm so thankful I don't live in Scotland. And Scotland's probably thankful it doesn't have me living there smile.

MissAdventure Tue 15-Mar-22 16:35:00

No, probably not.
I think the headlines are swaying towards catastrophising again, and I fell for it.

vegansrock Tue 15-Mar-22 16:31:16

It’s no biggie is it?

MissAdventure Tue 15-Mar-22 15:46:10

Ah, a fortnight isn't so bad then.
I should have looked beyond the headline.

volver Tue 15-Mar-22 15:45:00

For a fortnight.

Every other restriction gone.

snowberryZ Tue 15-Mar-22 15:44:42

And so it begins.

MissAdventure Tue 15-Mar-22 15:43:16

Due to a spike in cases.
Just seen this on sky news.
