Thanks Kaimoana for the title.
Can’t believe we’re on another thread.
All are welcome to join us for a chat.

Doodle Mon 04-Dec-23 22:34:09

ixion, I have a feeling I might know where I’d find one 😉
Good news Gramaretto. I bet you’re happy to be able to drive again especially now it’s so cold. No more waiting at bus stops for you 😊
I am doing the inhalation tomorrow. I will let you know if it helps. 😊

Grammaretto Mon 04-Dec-23 22:25:05

Ixion 🤣
My cough has eased so there is an end in sight. How's yours Nfk?

Bring on the trapeze Doodle. I forgot to do it myself but I am a great believer in inhalations. Bowl of very hot water on the table, towel over head and over bowl. Take deep breaths and cough as much as you need. If nothing else it is warming and takes you away from the world and into your own body. do I mean that?

Today was horrible weather but good news from the optician. She told me I have 20:20 vision and can drive and won't need such strong reading glasses.

How are the Lobstars?

ixion Mon 04-Dec-23 21:57:44

Now don't you go looking on line for one of those, Doodle.
You might get more than you bargained for.

Doodle Mon 04-Dec-23 21:49:02

Kaimoana thank you. Problem is not sure how I manage that if I can’t lay back because of the cough….think I need some sort of trapeze arrangement in the bedroom 🤔

Kaimoana2 Mon 04-Dec-23 21:45:37

Feet higher than heart - I was told this years ago by my mother who had the same problem. That helps fluid drain away. Much love xxx

Doodle Sun 03-Dec-23 21:02:44

ixion, have a nice time out tomorrow. Hope it’s not too cold (have you got your skis ⛷️ ready.
Cherry, what a pair you are. I hope you’re not hurt either.
Yes I’ve had my feet up most of the day. I think they were a bit smaller this morning but seem bigger again now.
Grammaretto, don’t like to think of you out in the cold at the bus stop. Hope you’re home safely by now snug by the fire and with one of Jeeves specials.

Grammaretto Sun 03-Dec-23 20:46:09

Gnomes they are! I didn't make them but they are proving popular. I make teapots, jugs, mugs and bowls.
Oh dear oh dear Doodle. The dude has had a fall. Not good at all. A call to the doctor tomorrow is definitely called for.

I'm waiting for a bus at a freezing bus stop. I have been celebrating advent at a df house in Edinburgh and hoping I catch the last bus which goes far too early.

Hair colour? ixion. We have a blondie and a redhead. I also have other colours 😊🤣

I have an eye appointment tomorrow. I'm hoping I'll be allowed to drive.
Hot chocolate when I get home please Jeeves.

CherryCezzy Sun 03-Dec-23 20:26:04

Unfortunately my early night proved fruitless Doodle 🤷, couldn't settle to sleep for love nor money then when I did I preempted your DH and fell out of bed 🙄. Perhaps ixion hasn't got an ouija board, perhaps it's my ghostly bumps in the night 👻 that's putting a curse on everything only joking. Joking apart, I hope you're right and your DH isn't injured. Your poor feet, I hope you manage to speak to the GP asap, it sounds so uncomfortable. I hope you've managed to put them up this evening.

Interesting fact about the BP meds ixion. I was, briefly, put on a BP med but was swiftly taken off it when my lips swelled up so much it looked like I'd had an excess of lip filling injections 😬. Not a nice look, or feeling for that matter. I wasn't prescribed a different tablet 🤷.

I'm pleased you all enjoyed the Snow Queen Grammaretto I haven't got a clue what anything you've written in Scots or Doric, or even if it is. Thank you for sharing the photos. I too would like to know if those are pottery gnomes or another wee creature. I've taken a shine to the jugs and bowls, they're beautiful.

ixion Sun 03-Dec-23 20:21:57

Oh no, Doodle, not another fall😫. You are in need of a prop for every occasion! My ankles and legs were so heavy I could barely lift them. If it is BP meds, there should be others more fit for purpose out there.

Is life more peaceful for you now, 🍒? How long will the evacuation last?

What lovely GC you have, Grammaretto! Tell me , was there discussion in the family about hair colour? Seems to be the topic du jour.😉

Looking forward to perambulations tomorrow in the rain. At least my feet will stay firmly planted on terra firma, rather than 🏂.

Doodle Sun 03-Dec-23 19:38:37

Dear Cherry I hope you’re ok and your early night helped you recover.
DH had another fall today. Don’t think he’s injured as far as I can see but it shook us both up.
ixion, thanks for that. I wondered if I was imagining it. My feet are huge. Hope it goes down soon I need to get some shoes on.
Are you sure it’s a keyboard you’re using and not an ouija board 🤔
Grammaretto so pleased you all enjoyed it. Lovely photos of your two DGDs on the GM thread too. I bet they had a wonderful time.
Are those pottery gnomes you’re selling. (Not garden but the ones with the tall hats)

Grammaretto Sun 03-Dec-23 08:50:34

Happy Birthday *Mamissimo you will have a good day.*

I lose track and posts these days.

Yesterday's outing to the Snow Queen was a wonderful success. The girls enjoy the train and bus through Edinburgh as well as ice-cream at the interval. The queen was a bit too scary but the silly unicorn made up for her.
The language was Scots with some Doric. Fit like for what and a skelp for a smack plenty of quines and loons too.

I had better get going though the snow is still deep in the garden and Quakers and potters are due today.

I am so sorry about your swollen legs and the Dude's infirmity. Doodle. I hope your medication can be changed PDQ if ixion is right.

Cherry; lovely to see you and at least your neighbour has gone 😁

* trying to look on the bright side *

Here's a picture of one of our stalls and a photo of the DGD on the top of the bus.

ixion Sat 02-Dec-23 21:31:12

Lost the post AGAIN. Not only does my message cough and splutter but the keyboard acts as if it is possessed😱. Jumping around, lighting up unwanted letter tiles. 👻.
I am now writing this ^in rough^🥱.

Many happy returns, Mamissimo. I must've missed any mention of it previously and wondered about the candle blowing reference.

Look after yourself, Cherry. You are excused pompom waving and general cavorting tomorrow, but come anyway - you can cut up the oranges for half time instead.

Doodle, if any of your BP meds end in 'dipine' , then swollen legs and ankles may result. (It's a recognised feature of calcium channel blockers, apparently). I lasted two weeks on mine with lower legs like tree trunks before I went back and demanded an alternative. (A pity the GP didn't warn me first😡)

ixion Sat 02-Dec-23 21:07:29

Doodle

ixion have you noticed our old drinking establishment has opened under new management? 🤣*

Yup, Doodle. Great, isn't it? I've already called in for a quick one.🏃‍♀️

CherryCezzy Sat 02-Dec-23 20:47:11

A short message from me as my mind feels a bit mushy after having a nasty seizure this afternoon 🙄

I'm not surprised you're a tad sunk in spirit Doodle, it's been a relentlessly bad time for you, my heart goes out to you ❤️. Your swollen ankles could well be caused the antibiotics by the sound of things, rock and hard place springs to mind. I hope your decision to stop them means the swelling disappears quickly and you can get to speak to the Dr on Monday so he can prescribe something in its place 🌻.

I hope you did well on your stall Grammaretto 🤞

Back tomorrow 🤞 I'm off for an early night if I can sleep . Night night lovely lobStars

Doodle Sat 02-Dec-23 19:48:42

ixion have you noticed our old drinking establishment has opened under new management? 🤣*

Doodle Sat 02-Dec-23 19:29:47

So annoying isn’t it Grammaretto.
Second try on lost post

Grammaretto, I missed your photo first time round. Is that your garden? Looks beautiful but such a lot of snow. Hope the Christmas market went well
Hope you enjoyed the dancing.

Cherry, our team won. Hurrah.
Not sure I fancy a yurt. I like my creature comforts too much

Mamissimo, dear Spud is lovely. What an expression on his little face 😊
In the missing post I went on to wish you happy birthday for today. Hope you had a lovely time with the family 🎂🎂🎂🎂🎂🍷(not for Spud of course)

ixion, have you thawed out from your cheerleading?
DHs heels have dressings on but are still very sore. The skin has peeled off. The DN ordered a bean bag but it’s out of stock so she’s now ordered some ankle foam blocks but there not coming till Monday. Until then the dangling off the end of the leg support continues 🤣
Oh Ixion, whatever did you do. Those online forms are a nightmare. Got a nice display in your lounge now have you 🤣
I woke this morning feeling much better and ready for the day………..until I looked at my legs and saw my feet and ankles are hugely swollen, when my spirits sunk to a new low.
it just seems one thing after another now

Kaimona, I was thinking of you and how right you are about all these medicines we are encouraged to take. Been doing some research and it seems not only the new BP medication but also the antibiotics can have swollen legs as a side effect.
Ive stopped taking everything and will try the GP Monday

ixion Sat 02-Dec-23 18:57:17

What a bevy of beauties in our Lobstar Hall of Fame!
Welcome to Aoife, hello to scrunchable Spud and soldier on, lovely Keira, beautiful with or without teeth. A hazard of old age, I have been warned. My father used to guide us with, er, unusual spellings and hopeless pronunciations. Just think E for Brick, he would advise. A lover of the Cockney Alphabet, he was.

The Snow Queen sounds amazing! Scots Doric? How many speakers are there? I must Google it so I don't sound too thick.. Tell us more!

I shall be first in the queue for your Open House sessions, Kaimona. As long as the weather is better than here currently🥶.

Grammaretto kindly mentioned that she might have space in her suitcase(s) on return to bring Trevor to these shores. Would this really be feasible? I should love to go on the list, please. If you would prefer to message me about payment for a copy and P & P, that would be great, if it's not too much trouble.

Thank you for coughing for England, Doodle, but it's really not necessary. Just for a county would be a start. How are Mr. D's heels? Sheepskin heel protectors? A bean bag foot rest? Must be something that stops him having to dangle, as you succinctly put it ...

I have spent the afternoon finding my way round Royal Mail's Click and Drop option. Print out your labels, pay on line and book (free) for your Postman to collect at a given time.
Methinks that (a) they are trying to close down Post Offices and (b) that the postmen will have had these additional responsibilities foisted on them, all to be achieved within their existing schedule.
And (c), like online food ordering, you wonder whether it might be quicker to get in the car and go yourself.

I have tried very carefully to follow correct completion of the form.
I am ever mindful of the occasion that I ordered a particularly impressive bouquet for a friend's special celebration. Imagine my horror when on the given day, there was a knock at my door, presenting me with the selfsame floral arrangement.

Put my name and address in the recipient's box, didn't I?🙄.

Grammaretto Sat 02-Dec-23 08:32:13

My post vanished too. I think it's another popup that suddenly covers my screen.
Anyway I should be icing the lemon cake or at least drizzling it
Did you sleep in your 🛏️ again or the 💺 Doodle?

Spud is a real character. What a wonderful face! I hope he and Aoife hit it off.
I'm taking the littlies to see the Snow Queen today. They'll enjoy dressing up.
I wonder if any of us will understand the Scots. It's in Doric apparently.
Have a lovely day everyone.
See you later.

Doodle Fri 01-Dec-23 22:04:12

*😡 I typed a long post to everyone earlier and it vanished into the ether. It was there because I checked it was bold.
Sorry don’t feel up to typing it all again tonight. Take care all back tomorrow. *

Mamissimo Fri 01-Dec-23 11:17:00

Good Morning 🙂

Eefa it is NFK - being Irish myself they all have traditional names here - much to my grandchildrens' amusement. They like trying to work out how to really spell everyone's name 'normally' as they have no `Gaelic.....yet! I've lost most of what I learned at skool.

Spud is coming today with the rest of the family to help me blow out the candles but really to meet Aoife . He is coming on nicely but didn't like the green baby gro last weekend.

it's gardener, cleaner and Ocado for me this morning - I've already taken the dog for a walk and tidied up for the cleaner cleared a pathway through the house so but lunchtime I'll be ready for anything 🙂

NfkDumpling Fri 01-Dec-23 09:06:16

I just Googled how to pronounce Aoifa. Is it Eefa? I just realised I couldn't hear it very well as I'd not put my hearing aids it!

CherryCezzy Thu 30-Nov-23 21:39:32

Oh, by the way, I'm glad you didn't quite fall prey to a scammer Grammaretto but wise to cancel your card 👍

CherryCezzy Thu 30-Nov-23 21:31:45

Lovely photo Grammaretto ... but 🥶. It's gone very cold in the last few days here (-3 at night) but at least we haven't had snow , when we went out today we well and truly wrapped up 😁. I'm glad your cough is easing up a bit ... mind you don't catch a chill on top when you're out on your stall tomorrow. I'd love to see what the stall looks like, any chance of a photo of it all set up 🤞

I'm pleased your x-ray came back clear Nfk 👍but poor Keira 😕, having all those teeth out must have been horrible for her. I hope she enjoyed her scrambled eggs.

No, best not try to book staying at a private residence or worse still turn up at the door with luggage Kaimoana 🤣. I used to know someone (vaguely) who was living in a yurt on the border of mid-Wales, he'd bought the land it stood on at a very reasonable price too. As it was easy to dismantle he erected it without planning permission but it drew the attention he got into a bit of trouble of the planning department 🧐. I never did find out what the upshot of the matter was, I'd love to know.

I hope you're not coughing as badly as you were yesterday Doodle and that your DH is making a steady recovery now.

We made a second attempt at Xmas shopping today because the first attempt was rubbish and made a little very little progress 🤷. Perhaps I'll leave it 'til January as it might be easier 🤣. Well, we shook and shook our pom poms in Serbia this evening and we cheered shouted at our team ... 88 minutes worth until we scored ... we won 😀

Doodle Thu 30-Nov-23 19:34:40

Mamissimo, she’s lovely. What a beautiful face. Hat does Fergal think of the new arrival.
Nfk, so pleased you’re feeling better. Glad your X-ray is clear.
poor little Keira. I’m heartened to hear she feels better now.
I was going to ask what you’re going to feed her whilst her gums heal
Yurts without loos 😱. No not for me, I enjoy my creature comforts too much……….besides which I’d never make it as far as the communal facilities blush
Grammaretto, the name Aoifa, has always intrigued me. So many vowels. Couldn’t think how it was pronounced until I hears someone on TV called it.
Good your cough is getting better. Do you find the cold weather affects you?
Oh no , I am furious with scammers. Nasty people. Hope your card is safe
Wish I could see your stall. I love Christmas markets. Hope all goes well

Kaimoana2 Thu 30-Nov-23 19:17:19

Aoife is GORGEOUS - I went all gooey when I looked at her. smile
