Has anyone experience the lates round of Covid? I came home from Greece on Monday and here I am. Feel dreadful. Anyone else experienced the most recent strain?

A friend dropped by yesterday who I see once a year. Nothing has ever stopped him going to the pub once he was allowed to do so and he still hasn’t caught it, neither has my ex who continued to work until recently. My DIL had it a few weeks ago but no one else in the family caught it. It’s all so unpredictable.

I’ve got a bottle of colloidal silver but have never known how to take it.

It doesn’t look promising.

At the start of the pandemic I bought some from a health food shop I used to go to. I never used it because of dodgy reports I then read about it. Prior to that I knew people that used the spray to treat any cuts their dogs had!

It’s very variable in effect. I’ve just had it for the first time too, I tested negative today after nearly two weeks. However, I’ve not been ill, just sneezing and painful sinuses, and a bit more tired than usual. I don’t think it’s possible to avoid it, however hard you try it will seek you out.

Feeling more normal 2 weeks later. It affects your brain, couldn’t do crosswords or anything but I am now able to do them again. Foul disease.

We both have Covid here, and it’s our first time too. DH is CEV so the first day really triggered his illnesses … but now he’s on 3 types of rescue meds and plodding along ok. I am soooo grateful!

I’m the one with the cough and I’ve had to quadruple my inhalers to help. We’re just flatly tired.
We did go out in the car today to sit in it and watch birds at a reservoir.
We’re not daytime TV viewers but we’re working our way through iplayer box set of Dodger together.
I’ve got an awful feeling it’ll carry on through xmas.

Last year it was flu, and DH was very ill..

Oh well!

In September this year I was taken ill and spent a week in intensive care where I caught Covid. Never had it before. It was a routine test before transferring me to a medical ward and it was positive. I was put in a side room in isolation. I lost my sense of taste and smell and had a very dry mouth. No other symptoms. But even now things don’t taste the same.

Esmay Fri 22-Dec-23 21:37:23

I had Covid symptoms in early August - but no loss of sense of taste or smell .
I felt dreadful for about three weeks to a month .
It was hard to keep food down . I kidded myself that I was on a diet !
Then totally washed out .
And now for about six weeks I have whooping cough and when I'm not coughing - I'm having violent migraines .
The fatigue is so bad that I can only do one thing a day .
Tomorrow , I have to do a mini shop .When I return I'll dive for the sofa .
I actually feel constantly on the verge of tears .
I don't want to go out . I'm dreading Christmas dinner .

The only treatment :
rest , sleep , fluids , vitamin C plus zinc , fresh chicken soup and echinacea plus paracetamol .

Does anyone know how they caught it? I’m still avoiding supermarkets, buses, trains crowded places etc but going into small shops and outdoor places. I so want to lead a normal life again but am so scared of catching it.

We both have it here! Managed all this time to avoid it and 'ping' out of the blue there it was. It is a dreadful dose. I never knew so many parts of the body could pain all at the same time and the coughing is horrendous. I tested for Covid, just on the off chance and there is was. I tested again today, hoping, but it was positive again so I fear it will be with us over Christmas and then, I understand, the effects will linger for 10 days to 2 weeks before we get anything like back to how we were. I'll test again on Christmas day - my treat!! Keep well folks flowers

Five weeks post testing positive I’m still coughing and have bouts of complete exhaustion. Also very emotional, the smallest thing reduces me to tears. While testing positive (just a week) my symptoms were fairly mild, like a head cold. Mr C was unwell first and was much worse with fever and a fairly dramatic collapse followed by the most horrible cold symptoms either of us could imagine. Left with sores over his lower face he tested positive for three weeks while being symptom free, other than the sores, after two weeks. Assuming we had the same variant symptoms certainly can’t be predicted. Our first encounter with covid and we hope our last.

started cold and and bad headache on 9th dec done a test which was positive. only just fading 10 days later. test shows faint line now so hopefully recovering.. really nasty time.

Grandmama Fri 22-Dec-23 18:15:35

About 10 days ago I started feeling very unwell. On the 4th day of being unwell DD1 suggested Covid - which I dismissed as unlikely - so I used my one remaining Covid test and it was positive. This was my very first Covid infection. I certainly felt knocked out but am OK now apart from a cough that is not as bad as it was and unpleasant catarrh that is affecting my hearing. I hope you soon feel better pigsmayfly flowers

Went to Ballet on Sunday, using train and bus- started with a cold on Tuesday. Got worse and worse. Yesterday looked after 3 yong children for a friend who was moving to their new house. This morning at GP for routine blood tests (wearing mask)- she said there is a lot of Covid around and offered to do a test - bingo! Positive.

Feel really ill, and will have to cancel big brother's visit over Christmas, 86 and widowed, knowing he will be on his own.

boheminan Mon 11-Dec-23 11:17:01

fancythat Thanks for asking how I'm doing, it's now 10 days since I started symptoms. Had an overnight stay in hospital to rectify dehydration. Now so tired and headachy.

I find support in talking to others that are going through this 'new' version...not anywhere near as bad as the previous nasty, but still nasty. So I hope this thread will continue as a support for others who may be starting it all over again.

flowers to all who are suffering with the latest Covid

Skydancer Mon 11-Dec-23 09:25:38

DH recovering from it. He has been dizzy, depressed (not like him) and totally lethargic for about 6 weeks.

chimes22 Mon 11-Dec-23 09:23:13

I sympathise with your rash I had the same and took the decision to have no more covid vaccinations.

fancythat Mon 11-Dec-23 09:21:49

Are you ok now boheminan?

nanna8 Mon 11-Dec-23 09:12:09

Well both of us came back from our cruise with Covid. Huh. They did absolutely nothing to warn us or prevent the spread. No warnings, no compulsory hand washing and no masks even though every other person was coughing and spluttering. Unlike all the other recent cruises where we have been told to sanitize before every meal . Didn’t happen once on this one, they just ignored it.

Oopsadaisy1 Mon 11-Dec-23 09:03:27

MarinaL think how unwell you would be without having had the jabs and boosters.

So sorry that everyone seems to be suffering with the latest round of Covid, thank goodness for the jabs and boosters.

MarinaL Mon 11-Dec-23 00:28:28

Tested positive this evening. Felt unwell for a few days. Streaming with cold but the cough is worse than anything I've ever had, keeping me awake at night. Had my booster in Sept for all the good it has done!
