A supportive thread begun during Lockdown and which now continues to be a daily treasure (even an addiction!).
All welcome.

*ixion they are giving DH quite a lot of pain relief, codeine, paracetamol and oxycodone. Trouble is the pain sometimes over rides all that. The rest of the time it makes him sleep just like he is now.
He did have a re clinic chair but not a comfortable one. He is sleeping in the bed which is why he has such a lot of pain.
Hope everything goes well for Mr I at his appointment tomorrow. I didn’t realise he was waiting for an op. Hope he is well enough for it soon.
*Cherry we’ve got so many books. Two full bookcases in the hall and loads in boxes elsewhere. DH had a large number of large IT computer books. Despite not using them for years he is loath to get rid of them as “they’re not in print anymore” (no that’s because the systems they work on are obsolete and no one wants them 🤣)

Doodle Fri 26-Apr-24 19:36:49

Grammaretto it makes you wonder what you pay insurance for doesn’t it. How mean of them to decline. Hope you get some compensation.
Love the cartoon
Hope you have a lovely time at the concert
ixion love the picture. Blue sky and tree what’s not to like.
I get my fresh air fix walking to and from car parks at the hotel and hospital.
Today I had an exciting excursion. I escaped for half an hour to go to Waitrose, Greek salad for dinner tonight for a change
Saying a quick hello to Kaimoana, Notspaghetti , Jan, Mamissimo and Nfk. Hope you’re all doing ok
sorry my posts are short I’m just so tired and I dont have much time to myself these days.

Doodle - dancing can be a career choice - I know two young women who have done this.

One is still dancing and the other is now teaching dance

NotSpaghetti Fri 26-Apr-24 20:41:32

Thank you Doodle - I am lots better. Truly thankful... I have, however, been to the dental hospital today and need to return to have a tooth removed. I am really sad about this as I've always been exceptionally careful with my teeth but I've had a second opinion now so out it must come...

Doodle Fri 26-Apr-24 22:18:49

Notspaghetti, yes of course you’re right and dance is a career choice for some. What I meant was dance wasn’t a career choice for my DGD. I think to make it professionally you have to be really good. My DGD loves dance and has been part of many dance competitions and groups but she is not at the top end she is just someone who enjoys it as a leisure activity
She has never entertained the idea of a career in dancing. What she’d like to do is continue dancing whilst doing something else as a career choice but it doesn’t feature in the college she wants to go to. The groups she dances with all finish at 18 but she may find another if she wants to continue.
Glad you’re feeling better. Losing a tooth is sad when you’ve done your best to look after them. I have had a couple (maybe 3 ) out. I don’t think I’ve got one single tooth that hasn’t been filled, bridged or crowned. Hope the removal goes ok. Is it at the back? Will you have an implant?

Grammaretto Fri 26-Apr-24 22:37:19

Poor man. Pain is so debilitating
I hope it eases and you both sleep well tonight Doodle 😴

The concert was really lovely. The setting of the Chapel and 2 excellent choirs. The French produced 3 French bagpipes for their final song.
Irlande Nord

It was still light as we came home.

Mr I is waiting for an operation too?
I hope he doesn't have to wait too long.

I tried to find out how long I will wait for a new hip. The phone to the appointment dept rang and rang and then abruptly stopped. No answer.

Dancing, criminology and geography. Hmm. Doesn't sound like business studies to me. grin she could be a spy or a dancing detective. Doodle.

Oh no not the dreaded dentist NotSpag. I hate it when you know you're going to lose the tooth

Night night all.

NotSpaghetti Sat 27-Apr-24 01:18:13

Grammaretto, I would prefer an implant- but will have to see re costs. I definitely don't want a bridge as I know that involves damage to another tooth - which I think would be a mistake

I'm sorry to hear people are still struggling - so many ill or waiting foe help... Doodle, Mr I and Mr D thinking of you all. I hope this better weather raises everyone's spirits. - I've managed to do some weeding today. It was lovely to be mooching about in the garden.... and at least there's movement on repairs and renovations for some of us.

Trying to keep positive here.
Here's to more sunny days! 🌞

CherryCezzy Sat 27-Apr-24 19:01:31

Surely the can provide Mr D with a comfier chair Doodle, they must know how uncomfortable he is. I'm sorry to hear that he's in so much pain, I hope today has been a better day.
It's good that you managed to escape, for a short time yesterday, even if it was only to Waitrose for a Greek salad 😋. You need these breathers, you need to look after yourself too x

Doodle, I hope your DGD does keep up her dancing no matter what she chooses to study. Even if she's not quite professional standard, she's obviously quite good at it, she enjoys it and it's good exercise. It's also a good escapefrom academic studies and a good release.

😢 NotSpaghetti, sorry that it looks like you're going to lose a tooth. I hate losing teeth, I've lost more than one to bruxism, it's horrible. If you can afford to go for an implant do it, I'd have gone for an implant if it was just the one I'd lost.

Drat Grammaretto, how infuriating! They had no intention of answering the phone did they 😤. Not the same but a few days ago I tried to ring my practice's repeat prescription line the my health online service was down but it rang out. Typical 😤. If or when you try again I hope you get through - even better they send you the appointment for the op' 🤞.
I'm glad you enjoyed the concert, the setting for it sounded lovely 😊.

We've moved on from books though we've still got those boxes to go to charity and have now homed in on sorting out my WP's clothes. You'd think he'd be able to get on with it himself 🤔. Sadly no! If it wasn't for me everything would be got out of drawers and put back in without looking 🤷.

NotSpaghetti Sun 28-Apr-24 01:13:48

Busy day today. Son texting 1st thing "are you awake" - I made the mistake of saying yes!
Pretty soon he arrived with his 3 for breakfast- and then stayed for lunch... by the time they left it was nearly dinner time and we were wiped out... It's lovely to see them - but oh so deliciously rrlaxing when they go away again!
😍

NotSpaghetti Sun 28-Apr-24 01:14:18

apologies, forgot the bold type

Grammaretto Sun 28-Apr-24 08:19:42

Hello Lobstars,
How is everyone faring today I wonder?
Cherry, what does it feel like once the clearout is completed? Is it cathartic or just a bit bare?

I didn't go for implants when my 2 front lower teeth broke, NotSpag. I have a small plate (partial denture) which I have pretty much got used to. If I had been younger I might have but it just doesn't feel like a priority since I'll probably lose more in the coming years. Sigh

Another df has commissioned a wedding present pot. We went over the inscription yesterday, checking spelling. So today I shall have to get on with that.

I am thinking of the Doodle family and want them to be having some pain-free time together. Perhaps they are?

NotSpaghetti Sun 28-Apr-24 09:28:14

What a lovely thing to make Grammaretto - a wedding piece - I'm sure it will be treasured

Doodle - thinking of you - what a rough time you are having

Grammaretto Sun 28-Apr-24 10:11:28

Ha! Ha! NotSpag. I just want it to be used! It's a jug. The inscription is not going to be much seen because it's on the underside. This is what the client wants.

NotSpaghetti Sun 28-Apr-24 10:13:15

I think it's nice to have it on the bottom - especially if they are young. They will know it is there "quietly" and love it for that.😍

Jan16 Sun 28-Apr-24 11:21:01

Morning All. Rain rain and more rain! Theo cat is curled up in his bed by the radiator and shows no sign of moving for quite a while! We are out to lunch today with our next door neighbours. Lovely couple but they are both deaf so theres a lot of “pardon” “what did you say” “ I can’t hear you” going on! They’ve both got hearing aids but somehow they don’t appear to work.
Hope we get some good news about Mr D today and hope he is more comfortable

ixion Sun 28-Apr-24 19:14:26

The sun is now out, pretending, as my mother used to say, that it has been a nice day. Ha ha.

Thank you for your concern for Mr.I. You may recall that he pitched up for a general surgery procedure as a day case, only to be rejected on the day as an anaesthetic hazard. He is currently undergoing various tests by various interested factions, losing sight, I fear, of the end goal of having the flippin' op. I reckon the only specialties he hasn't been signed up for are obs and gynae.

Are you any closer to thinking about a new-build, Grammaretto? And Cherry, new wheels yet?

I hope the Doodles have passed an acceptable day and haven't found on this occasion that everything shuts down at weekends. Talking of dancing girls, I bumped into a lady in Waitrose recently who said 'Excuse me, but don't I know you from somewhere?' It had to be DD's ballet and tap teacher, tall, lithe and an impossible size 8-10 in her late 60s/early 70s and desperately soignée😡. Last seen around 35+ years ago.
I asked her how her young niece, who assisted her with the baby classes and to whom DD looked up to as 'a big girl', was getting on. Oh, she replied, she runs the Dance School now and her daughter helps with the babies.
Makes you feel 👵🏻 as if you need reminding.

Mamissimo Sun 28-Apr-24 19:22:46

Good evening 🙂
We're collapsed in front of the box after an intense weekend of family en masse. I'm cooked out, laughed out and exhausted.

The rubbish picture is of today's mass Beagle walk in the local country park - Aoife had the time of life.

The week coming will be busy as we clear out rooms for the decorators - and we're going to a concert at the Royal Albert Hall on Tuesday.

Sending my thoughts to the Doodlers. X

Grammaretto Sun 28-Apr-24 21:42:34

No picture of Aoife and the gang?

Since you ask ixion I am perusing the 10 page report from the architect. It suggests 3 options with pros and cons. I probably could have done that myself without the stylish pictures but I guess it's something to think about while I get quotes for a new ceiling.
The medical folk certainly know how to drag things out do they not. I hope Mr I finds out what the matter is soon.

A weekend with the gang sounds fun exhausting Mamissimo.

Jan your meal out with the deaf couple did make me smile. I have a df like that. Her hearing aids don't work and she doesn't hear or doesn't listen so continues to talk. It's quite difficult. She told me she had put DH and herself on a strict diet and was sticking to it. She was looking very nice.
Her DH was spotted in Greg's buying a chicken pie and a donut grin
We didn't tell

Thinkingof the Doodles.

ixion Sun 28-Apr-24 21:47:32

😂 🥟🍩Grammaretto!

Mamissimo Sun 28-Apr-24 21:53:24

The gang!

Doodle Mon 29-Apr-24 20:28:00

Sorry all. Wi fi connection is very temperamental so may be missing a bit, DH not been very well and is in low spirits. Me too because I can’t cheer him up. Just wish we could both go home. Take care all xx

Mamissimo Mon 29-Apr-24 20:55:51

Doodle my heart goes out to you.

Hospital takes every ounce of your strength to survive sometimes, and our dearest ones go through it just as much. Illness isn't a fight, it's a whole war so make sure the troops have got your back and focus on the you and The Dude. The rest of the world can wait!
♥️

ixion Mon 29-Apr-24 22:24:39

Your path has been long and tortuous, Doodle. You would not be human if you didn't share the pain and suffering of Mr.D.

We all wish for brighter things for you on the horizon, please know that.

CherryCezzy Mon 29-Apr-24 22:48:41

No apology required Doodle.
Breathe. You're expending all your energy just now, that's understandable. Take a breath. Please take care. Let your family play their role and help where they can. Take some rest, you're low, probably exhausted. Take a breath. Sending you gentle cwtches Xx

NfkDumpling Tue 30-Apr-24 07:52:34

Bloomin' 'eck Mamissimo, that's not a gang, that's an army! You must have taken the park over completely - Kira is nearly a normal dog now, still timid but getting bolder, but she would have turned tail and bolted if she'd met that lot heading towards her!

We've had a weekend pet sitting for DS as he and family went off to their friends wedding. I ended up spring cleaning - as they knew I would! Kira really likes it there to the extent that I had to call her twice insistently before she slid off the sofa and came to come home with me.

I had a lovely day yesterday with friends and was able to celebrate the news that, at last, after a couple of hiccups Probate has been granted!!! It was a great relief, but somehow made everything so very final so I'm pleased to have had the support of good mates.

I can't say anything to you Doodle which hasn't already been said much more eloquently by the others. I can only second it and hope something can be done to make Mr D comfortable enough for you both to go home. If possible - SOON! Take care of yourself Doodle. XX
