It began as group support during difficult times and although Covid has faded a little, the friendship has endured and become stronger.

Still here for anyone to join a non-judgemental, caring thread during the often challenging time in life.

We don't have all the answers but in the spirit of Doodle and Cherry who began it all, and with a happy lobster as our mascot, we do offer friendship and often a bit of very cheeky chat.

I just about managed to see the lamb rumps Grmmaretto
grin

I use a stick ixion but not to help me walk; it's more a security/balance issue. I take it with me but use it only when I need to.
I have two: one an old-ashioned hook top, handy for putting round my neck as I haul myself up by the grab-handles on the St John Shuttle smile

The other is a a telescopic jfantasy of floweers taken only if I'm going somewhere a stick would be in the way.
It folds up and goes in my handbag while I sit. This has a straight top which doesn't really fit my hand.

Hope that arm is still improving Doodle.

I see screeds from Naughty but can't read any of it sad

Grand-daughter No.1 visited a few days ago, was visibly shocked at my appearance and demeanour, languishing as I was like some Victorian ninny.

She's recently back from a holday in Australia and tells me DS1, her birth father, now lives in a beautifully fitted out bus in which he is touring the country.
He can still work as a consultant to his clients wherever he is. Technology is just brilliant, "I work from bus" grin

She's off to the UK in a few month to attend a friends wedding and said she'd accompany me all the way and back two weeks later if I cared to join her.

It's a kind thought but I didn't even have the energy to laugh hystrically at that suggestion. She means well.

But then we know what paved the road to H.... don't we?

No, not Halifax!

On second thoughts......grin

*Notspaghetti my arm is well on the mend now. It’s mainly healed over with a big scab so hoping I don’t knock it again.
Kaimoana how lovely to be considered family and to be treated so well. Glad you were looked after and had a chance to go through your worries and troubles. It’s good about the transport. Pleased they will organise it for you. Are you eating a bit better now?
Naughtyneine pyjamas are not compulsory just make sure Jeeves isn’t around when you’re parading in the altogether. It might take him a while to recover.🤣
Oh your poor Dh felled by a whopping big dog. Wow that’s some size. Hope he and your nether regions have recovered. Always knew thongs were dangerous. Give me a full pant anyday 🤣
Ixion Dh always said he was more likely to fall with a stick than without one. It made me laugh the thought of there being videos on you tube as to how to use one. I do hope you’re not in a lot of pain and the rest helps solve the problem. Hope your cold gets better soon too.
Grammaretto thank you for the photo of the lambs. They are so sweet. I held a seven week old baby this morning. Young things are so lovely aren’t they.
*Are you still perusing your planning application for a new build? Any news on your house sale?
I have three folding chairs I can use on the balcony but I aim to get my rocking chair soon……when I’ve saved up enough pennies.

Grammaretto Wed 02-Apr-25 19:36:09

I hope you do have balcony chairs Doodle?

Such a good result Kaimoana
After all you have gone through it must be good to meet some kind and interested people
Fingers crossed it continues 🤞

Oh dear ixion. You have been so unwell 😫 I hope you are much better soon

I did a bit more decluttering today, viewed a house but it's not for me.

The best thing apart from the gorgeous weather was seeing my df newborn lambs and eating icecream on her patio

ixion Wed 02-Apr-25 16:47:24

Doodle, do you have additional balcony chairs? - you are planning on using your balcony in the summer?🤞

ixion Wed 02-Apr-25 16:43:02

Dear Kaimoana, I am so pleased you are getting results from and support for your medical issues finally!
I hope we will all be able to share in your upturn of fortunes.
Well, some at least .

Sad times, Grammaretto, for your DF and her family😢. Visiting must be so painful for you.
Your helpers seem to have settled in really well, don't they?
But there again, I've never come across a shy and retiring Aussie yet.

That arm looks a mess, Doodle. It must be painful. I hope it is mending well and cleanly.

Not much news this end. I have a stinking cold, my hip issues have been diagnosed by a extremely pleasant and competent young man. Rest for 2 weeks and - horror of horrors - a stick.
Only trouble is I can't for the life of me work out how to use it: watching umpteen YouTube videos, but still find I am walking faster than the stick.
I have a self-imposed ban on using a stick in the stairs. Scary.
Quite happy to adopt a scramble net approach to the steep flight.

I may have to leave lobsterville if pyjamas are required ....I don't have any and only one nightie that comes out only when someone is stopping here or I'm away from home. Other than that...it's me in all its glory with bits that could well do with starching and ironing!!!!!
It's been lovely to read and catch up on all your posts. My friend has gone home now...she has enjoyed being here and going out and about. We went to see if there was anything that night resemble a wedding outfit for her and me but I lost heart when holding a dress up against me and looking back was someone who looked as if they needed to lose a stone and a facelift.

Oh well..DH says he didn't care if I turn up in a bin bag. I did make him laugh though..I spotted the red dress in the picture and sect him a picture of it saying I'd found my outfit....back came an immediate reply...'Hell Yeah'. Memo to all...I am not planning to wear it...for one thing that zip would need reinforcing.

Thanks for the clothes tip Notspag. The wedding is on June 28th...so I've plenty of time to find something. ( Not).

Kaimoana...it was so lovely to read your upbeat post about your happy day out but then got so sad for you feeling grotty and having to live with a skin flare up too. I'm really glad this new doctor is taking things seriously.

Doodle... Never forget how amazingly you are doing...its so very natural to cry at memories...and things that have meant so much to you and your beloved husband. I promised my friend that it wouldn't always hurt as much as it does now..I hope as the weeks and months go on it will be the same for you. ♥️

Notspag... Your Mother's Day sounded busy but lovely. It was really heartening to read the love that was shared...for you and other Mums on here.

I kept myself busy so there wasn't a repeat of last year's grief. DH was worried leading up to the day...but I am following something I read by St Paul and replacing my feelings of hurt and pain with that of love towards my girls. Where there is no love...put love.

As part of the distraction we took the 3 'children'' for a walk. The Cane Corso in her excitement crashed into DH at speed ( all 45k) of her and knocked him flying. As he lay on the ground I panicked as to how on earth I was going to get him back to the car with what had turned out to be a twisted knee and ankle. I managed to get him to his feet (foot actually) and he used me as a crutch and hopped back to the car....slowly. He said we used a rugby skill called lock on and drive.... From my point of view I still can't see how they can play when their teammate has given them a 'wedgie' as I was seriously grateful we only had a relatively short distance to go as by the time I drove home I thought I was going to need surgery to remove my thong from where it was buried never to be seen again. Too much info I know!!!!

...

NotSpaghetti Tue 01-Apr-25 21:08:15

Wow Kaimoana - what a result at last! I know 5 hours is a long time but frankly it's worth the stress of it to feel properly listened to and have questions answered!

Maybe now things are on track you will feel better, your skin will gradually improve and your appetite return
🤞

Kaimoana2 Tue 01-Apr-25 20:56:39

Good report from my very lengthy sojourn at the doctors as I also saw th nurse for a diabetes check. All well there except for more weight loss which clearly worried them but not me, other than it makes me feel cold all the time, even on the hottests days.

It's true the problem with my skin may go into remission; here's hoping.
I was given appropriat medication for the other ills which have hit me.
I was also given a cup of tea on arrival at 10.15; a quiche at lunchtime as I'd last eaten at 7.30 and was feeling a bit wooky; then another cuppa as I waited for the free Health Shuttle to take me home.
From door to door, it took 5 hours -due to a few mixups which all came at once (none of them mine).
Good job my time's my own. smile

And all this cost me nothing at all.
When I asked why the doctor's fee was being waived, Ashley said, 'Because you're whanau' (family)

They are also going to provide me with transport for a cardiology appointment which is well outside the times of the free Health Shuttle.

Remarkable service - and Dr Charlotte was wonderful, listened and reassured me on several points of anxiety.

NotSpaghetti Tue 01-Apr-25 20:44:59

Oh Doodle- that's not at all the slightest thing anyway. That's a huge thing to remember and have to give up.
I hope, in time, the joy of the memory outshines the pain
☀️

.and now your arm photo is up in all its gorey.
😩
I hope it's recovering well.

Doodle Tue 01-Apr-25 19:38:38

Kaimoana, nothing racy about my pyjamas. Just soft and comfortable.
Notspaghetti the thought of your Dh going to bed looking like a banana made me smile. Very fetching. I see there’s a matching nightie too. 🤣
Hope you managed to get your BP back to normal for your visit to the docs.
Thanks for the info. They probably thought pictures of my poorly arm would cause mass fainting.
Grammaretto yes it’s on the mend now I’m sure. It’s hidden under a plaster and I’m not looking.
Your Aussie helpers seem to be doing well with the washing. They’re lucky to have arrived in time for some sunshine.
Have a lovely time at the folk club. Will it be Waltzing Matilda do you think.?
oh could we have a picture of the lambs if you get to see them?
Ive been waiting for two weeks for someone to come and collect my four garden chairs and take them to the charity shop for sale. At last they were collected and taken out to the van. At this point I started crying because they were going and DH and I used to sit on them on our balcony. Silly really but the slightest thing sets me off.

Grammaretto Tue 01-Apr-25 17:02:50

Ooh that looks nasty Doodle!
I hope it's healing now

I think maybe I would prefer negligé pictures!

Such a lovely sunny day here. The Aussies are impressed. They got 3 loads of washing done and dried
Quicker than back home because of the humidity in Queensland

It just makes me sleepy though
They have been busy working their way down my list of jobs

*They got the water running into the
pond again*
Too late for frogs probably but we've seen birds drinking
I'll take them to the folk club tonight if they want to go and they can sing an Australian song!

Tomorrow I shall take them to visit my df newborn lambs

I do like your flowers NotSpag

NotSpaghetti Tue 01-Apr-25 16:14:46

No négligé photos allowed Doodle!

NotSpaghetti Tue 01-Apr-25 16:13:49

Doodle

*Ill give it one more try with my arm and if that doesn’t work it will be the négligé photos. (Well flannel pyjamas anyway)*

Just read this elsewhere on GN

Hi there, innocent photos occasionally fall foul of the filter. For example there were some I recall last week that included a bed and crumpled sheets and I think the AI thought that might be a sign of adult content - though it was really just about home decor. If you post an image and it doesn't show up within a minute or two, you can report the post and a person will take a look at it and can override the filter. Hope this helps.

NotSpaghetti Tue 01-Apr-25 06:55:00

As we are talking nightwear I must just share with you some pyjamas that my husband was bought for Christmas! They were half-price at the time apparently and were clearly a good buy as he loves them and is excited to see them warming on the radiator at night!. He loves jolly colours and so was bought the yellow ones... From a distance he's a banana -they really make me smile.

www.polarnopyret.co.uk/collections/adult?gad_source=1&gclid=CjwKCAjw-qi_BhBxEiwAkxvbkIc8_mWWY_PxbBh6rG-5OF--Ox0R2w0v2XUQsH4TgJxuzSIS4Z2lZxoCypcQAvD_BwE&gclsrc=aw.ds&pf_pt_product_type=Nightwear

I see they have the lilac ones half price just now. This isn't an advert but the cotton is really soft and thick. I think I'll have to keep an eye
👀 on this website - they seem to have different styles of pyjama bottoms too - with or without cuffs - one with a wider leg

Well awake panicking now. I woke at three and then at 5 - something.
Hospital appointments (even going to the GP to some extent) tends to make me stressed. It's a check up but that doesn't stop the panic - and now my blood pressure will rocket.
I know this is silly

I am consciously trying to relax more about this. I know where it comes from (not being listened to/seen as a person for my first pregnancy and birth) - and I'm not doing that again grin

Yesterday I finally saw frogs looking lively in our re-lined pond.
They have been sluggish or just not visible.
I'd stopped hoping for frogspawn - but maybe we aren't too late after all.
🤞

Doodle I've noticed several threads with greyed out pictures. I don't know why but I don't think you are being censored!

Kaimoana2 Tue 01-Apr-25 01:49:42

Whoo-hoo, Doodle in her jim-jams, who knew GN could be so racy ? grin

Doodle Mon 31-Mar-25 19:25:07

Doodle Mon 31-Mar-25 19:23:24

Kaimoana well it wasn’t me in my undies that’s for sure, it was just a picture of my poorly arm. Perhaps they thought it looked so bad they couldn’t show it,
Ixion the moderators have no stamina 🤣
Grammarettosounds like you had a nice Mothering Sunday. I often overeat when I’m out. If the foods good I don’t want to leave any.
Im glad your friend is surrounded by family. It must be hard for them too especially the daughter she’s staying with.
Notspaghetti. Your flowers are lovely. I’m sure your MIl appreciated the visit.
Today I’ve spent updating the accounts and making note of all the increased charges. Water, council tax our management fees here. It’s all going up.
Ive spent goodness knows how many hours trying to draw a small boat. I have not eye for perspective or skill at drawing. I’m hoping the one I’ve done is ok. Not sure what else I can do apart from trace it.
Ds 2 on his way to Canada. Between him and his brother it’s hard to keep track of them

NotSpaghetti Mon 31-Mar-25 08:55:03

Indeed Kaimoana
We are both lucky in that

Kaimoana2 Mon 31-Mar-25 01:25:37

That's the essence, isn't it NotS

I'm still lucky in that I know he loves me flowers

NotSpaghetti Mon 31-Mar-25 00:19:55

Thank you. Yes. I had a lovely (but exhausting) day with my two younger daughters. We had a casual lunch out and a bit of an adventure in a place we went to a lot when the children were small. It has changed such a lot though!

Afterwards I had to drop off birthday gifts for a grandchild...
And finally, managed to fit in a short trip to my mother-in-law too (so that was good) and she was genuinely excited to see me - because although my husband had been there all day she thought I was still busy with "my girls".

My husband had ordered a big bunch of long stemmed white carnations for her - which she really loves - and it was truly beautifully presented.*
However these stunning flowers arrived for me*

*I am so very lucky.
I hope friends here had lovely days too.*
I didn't hear from my son overseas - but these dates are different everywhere - or don't exist at all.
I'm still lucky in that I know he loves me!

🙏💖

Grammaretto Sun 30-Mar-25 22:55:58

I'm so glad you have had a lovely Mother's day, Doodle

I hope all other Lobstars have too

Grammaretto Sun 30-Mar-25 22:54:47

All my DC sent me messages and DS1 invited me to theirs for tea but after a chat on the phone I decided against it. They are so busy . DGS has his dissertation to hand in tomorrow. Their elderly neighbour had an accident in the street so DDIL, who's a nurse, was helping with that.

So after the concert I went for an Indian meal with 2 other "abandoned mums". It was excellent but I ate far too much and am now suffering from indigestion.

Serves me right!

It is very sad to watch my df declining Her family are rallying round and caring for her beautifully
She's at her DD's house

ixion Sun 30-Mar-25 21:25:46

I rather think the Moderators who check the photos are having a lie down in a darkened room ...

Kaimoana2 Sun 30-Mar-25 21:14:30

It says the image is hidden.
Did you upload something naughty Doodle ? grin grin grin

Doodle Sun 30-Mar-25 20:11:58

My photo said image coming soon but it doesn’t seem to be there
