It began as group support during difficult times and although Covid has faded a little, the friendship has endured and become stronger.

Still here for anyone to join a non-judgemental, caring thread during the often challenging time in life.

I'm a newbie - found friends after lockdown. Grateful to them for being so warm.

And what is the news regarding Naughtyneine?
I think we are ready for an update - if you have a spare moment.

Sending love and good wishes.

NotS I read through your whole post, not something I am able to do much these days, and found it very moving and interesting.
I'll be thinking of you. smile

Yet another hospital appt in the offing, endocrinology this time for bone desnsity. Yet again at the far-distant hospital which is such a hassle for anyone taking me. It's also at the very time the roads are chocka with school traffic, so I've asked for a change of time.

Grammaretto it doeslook as if the house is sending you a message doesn't it? Grasp the nettle while summer is here; so much easier to attract buyers and look for your own wee palace.
It must be so hard for you, deciding on such a huge upheaval but believe me, it is all easier while you are still reasonably hale as health can deteriorate so quickly and trap you in place.

I am eternally glad that I saw the signs of things to come 15 years ago and moved here to my small corner.

So much wretched rain but at least I don't have to go out in it. Small mercies. I'm thankful.

Kaimoana2
I hope the trip to the endocrinologist is useful.

Thank you for holding me in your thoughts. I hold you in mine.
🙏

Doodle Mon 16-Jun-25 19:56:50

Evening all. I’m so tired these days I’ve been sitting here nodding off for the last hour but when I go to bed I sleep for a bit then wake up.
I’m certainly into audio books now Kaimoana at least I don’t have to keep my eyes open when I read.
Ixion thank you for the link.
Notapaghetti so nice of your family to make fuss of Dh. What a lovely post .
NFK lovely to hear from you. I’d get in thr camper bubble with Kira and go if I were you. How lovely to have a trip somewhere.

Doodle Mon 16-Jun-25 20:00:50

Grammaretto Hope there’s no more leaks. Have you got any further with your house planes.
Sorry all hands aching already. Movement is better though. Xx

Grammaretto Mon 16-Jun-25 21:04:48

I'm glad movement is better Doodle . Rest is good. They don't call it Rest and recuperation for nothing.

No more news about the house. It could take ages before I hear. Must be patient.

I was on another walk today ending in a lovely garden with scones, strawberries and cream all laid on by the walk leaders whose house it was. Sun shone. It was almost too hot.
Tonight my friend/helper made the supper and now all I have to do is my Gaelic homework 🙃.

Nfk have an ace time in your camperbubble with Kira. I am quite envious. Is it comfy to sleep in?

NotSpag I hope you also find some rest as you have been helping everyone. It must have been a lovely father's day.

Thanks for the link ixion. I think that my DGC are a bit too old for this now.
I sent a gift to DGS for his 18th birthday. It's an inscribed pen set. Well I'd like it! I may give him a book also. One I already have

I had my blood test discussion today and discovered my cholesterol levels are very high. Drat! I much preferred it when I didn't know. 😂🤣

No more cocktails and chocolates Jeeves. Just bread and water for me. Or maybe just the water. 🙁 😓

Kaimoana2 Mon 16-Jun-25 21:47:41

You might like to do a bit of research on cholesterol levels Grammaretto as many other factors: genetics, age and medications can come into it, other than food.

Naughtyneine Tue 17-Jun-25 13:01:08

Oh ladies... What can I say... What an absolutely wonderful beautiful surprise. Made so special by your lovely words. Not Spag...I will think of you all when I dance in the shallows in my beloved Tenby.

Naughtyneine Tue 17-Jun-25 13:03:13

♥️♥️♥️Thank you. ♥️♥️

NotSpaghetti Tue 17-Jun-25 13:06:25

Naughtyneine

*♥️♥️♥️Thank you. ♥️♥️*

Very pleased that our lobstar wishes have winged? Swum all the way to you. Xxx

Doodle Tue 17-Jun-25 21:01:39

Glad the good wishes have arrived 💕
I’m so tired tonight . Went to town to have hair done and did what I thought was a small amount of shopping. Trying to carry shopping bag with handbag and walking stick. Getting on and off bus. Showing bus pass whilst juggling everything. I was exhausted when I got home and had to lie down for a bit.

Hope all are ok. Much love xxx

Kaimoana2 Tue 17-Jun-25 23:24:49

I've given myself permission to break all the old rules Doodle
after all you are the boss of you grin.

Buy a backpack, so much easier when (like me) you use a stick, have a money belt instead of a handbag, it'll hold pass and keys.

I'm all for making life fit me rather than expecting to fit into life at my age smile
Unfortunately, our supermarket doesn't deliver but I'm blessed to have home support who can collect an order made online.

Grammaretto Wed 18-Jun-25 02:11:09

I was going to suggest that for Doodle too, Kaimoana . I have a backpack to free hands but I nearly always struggle at the checkout.
I have taken to avoiding busy times but since it's almost always busy, I save a lot of money by not shopping 😅
Meanwhile, why am I still awake at 2am?

Kaimoana2 Wed 18-Jun-25 02:41:03

Grammaretto Because you didn't take your magnesium? grin

Doodle Wed 18-Jun-25 20:09:27

Kaimoana what a brilliant idea. I’ve got two light weigh rucksacks but never thought of using them. Thank you 💕
Grammaretto never having used a stick before I am on a learning curve. Hope you get a better night tonight. Might be the heat.

ixion Wed 18-Jun-25 21:29:35

Doodle, I was wondering how you were getting on with two gammy wrists and a stick - your recent shopping excursion sounds a nightmare and I hope the rucksack suggestion does the trick.
🎶 Val-eri, val-dera even.😍

Lots of responses to your cholesterol thread, Grammaretto.
I hope you can see the way forward which is right for you. I remember the late Michael Mosley did some research on non-statins and carried out dietary experiments- I have dug out the link for you.

Can one have too much sun?
Nah.
Another lovely day here and more tomorrow. Just a shame a visit to the dental hygienist will blight that. I think he is a frustrated proper-dentist^, with a whiff of arrogance and a patronising tone which my real dentist never ever displays.
Not to worry, he won't stay long, they never seem to.

How is everyone? Thinking of you all.

Kaimoana2 Wed 18-Jun-25 23:54:10

It took me a few moments to work out your reference ixion smile

Perfect diction.

I can just see Doodle with her knapsack, striding out surrounded by singing boys. grin

The choir is still going, with girls included these days.

All the original boys are in their 70's now and probably the only part which goes wandering (as I know only too well) will be memory!

ixion Thu 19-Jun-25 22:09:39

Just popping in to hope everyone has had reasonable day.
Still jolly hot here, hoping sleep will come easy.
Seem to be waking regularly at 5 am these days so I flag as the evening continues.
Til tomorrow, good night!

Kaimoana2 Fri 20-Jun-25 05:42:10

Sleep tight ixion smile

Grammaretto Fri 20-Jun-25 08:02:13

Thanks for that link ixion.
It's easier to be a healthy eater in hot weather although poor Michael Moseley forgot his own advice in the end. So sad.

I listened to the German youth choir Kaimoana . As you say their diction is superb.
My German friend who is staying here is the same. Perfect English!
I gave him a pottery lesson yesterday.
It began with preparing the clay which was good as I now have a quantity of well kneaded clay!
He was a prize pupil and made 5 cups on the wheel.

My pottery pals then came for morning coffee, lunch and afternoon tea in my garden, interspersed with some pottery making. A happy day of catching up with eachothers' news.

2 of us have booked for a theatre matinée tomorrow after our favourite summer fair.

Music man is showing one of his business team around the house while I'm at work this morning. I feel obliged to tidy my bedroom 😞

I hope your poor sore limbs are healing Doodle and that you can enjoy this glorious weather.

ixion Fri 20-Jun-25 09:46:54

This song was played a lot on Childrens' Favourites with Uncle Mac in the mid '50s, which was where I first heard it.
Can you imagine it having any appeal to today's young people?

Uncle Mac also played my request to welcome my new baby brother - I'm a pink toothbrush by Max Bygraves!

I seem to remember that the Wanderers song was gently parodied on a programme like Round the Horne or some such.

Do you think, Grammaretto, that your Music Man will continue to foster your house's part in the wider community, as it clearly does with you?
It would be a shame to lose that connection.

Grammaretto Fri 20-Jun-25 16:41:07

Oh yes ixion. We both very much want it to happen but it depends on fund raising from a charitable trust. He is confident.

I think when I told everyone I would be selling in April I hadn't realised it might be next April.

I've just delivered 10 crates of books for the autumn book sale. They will stop taking them soon as there's no more space.

It was boiling hot and we had to have icecreams.

NotSpaghetti Fri 20-Jun-25 18:07:44

"It was boiling hot and we had to have icecreams."
grin

Doodle Fri 20-Jun-25 19:55:00

What a lovely time you had with your pottery friends and your helper Grammaretto
Kaimoana you should see me striding along with my light weight rucksack and my purple walking stick. My Sun hat and sunglasses. 😎 very trendy 🤣🤣
Ixion i remember Max Bygraves and the toothbrush song.
Sorry all I can manage to type tonight, love to all xx
