It began as group support during difficult times and although Covid has faded a little, the friendship has endured and become stronger.

Still here for anyone to join a non-judgemental, caring thread during the often challenging time in life.

I'm a newbie - found friends after lockdown. Grateful to them for being so warm.

kaimoana i think your message was for me. I would welcome your hugs. They are so special and I don’t get so many these days.
I agree Wotan you ixion Trevor would make a wonderful series for children to watch.
Our son brought me back some Turkish delight from Turkey. It is delicious. So unlike anything I’ve had before. Wish I could get a constant supply I love it.
Another full on Sunday at church tomorrow. Early night for me.i get so tired these days.
What’s Grammaretto been up to?

ixion Sat 26-Jul-25 10:20:28

I think Trevor would make an enchanting short carton for little ones, Kaimoana.
Or maybe a series, if you could pen further adventures whilst still retaining his charm?

Anyone with the right connections? 🤞

Kaimoana2 Fri 25-Jul-25 23:04:50

Everytime I read your posts, I want to come and give you a comforting hug. I hope your boys sometimes do that.
I'm glad your doctor know you now have bones which need a little help. We do not deliberately fall, so its hard to preents that sad as I well know. Just make sure that if you do fall and someone tries to hoist you up by the arms, you stop them at once - that can lead to more problems. Everyone should know how older people can be assisted safely after a fall.

Grammaretto yes there is medication i can take that might help. Yes it probably is why I broke my bones.
I’m just concentrating on not falling over again.
Hope you get a new lodger soon. When are your helpers coming?
Nice to hear from you Cherry
Love to all the lobstars.

Big Congratulations on Trevor becoming a Pekin Duck Kaimoana.

Kaimoana2 Thu 24-Jul-25 22:57:34

The thing with the leaves, as I said in a previous post, is that the people who have my money say they have heaps of orders for kumerahou (I can believe it, everyone else is out of stock) and they need good weather to go collects it.
I am not really patient Gramaretto, in fact my skin is quite bad but what can I do, stress makes my skin worse. sad

My bone density rating was 'robust' so at least I don't have that to worry about, especially as I am prone to falls these days.

Grammaretto Thu 24-Jul-25 21:43:43

I hadn't realised that Doodle about the osteoporosis. Is that why you broke your bones recently?
How are you now? I hope there's medication to help.

The photographer came and went. He said it was all fine but I noticed he had shoved the draining rack in a cupboard. Quite right. It's an ugly thing.
I must go to bed. I'm very tired but it's the hardest thing to go upstairs...
Night night friends xx

Doodle Thu 24-Jul-25 20:11:04

Grammaretto I have previously been told I had osteoporosis and then another doctor said I didn’t. I was on ale drone c acid for years before they stopped it. Looks like I may be going back on it again. Not a great surprise to me, I had a bone scan when I was in my early 40s and my results were worse than others in their last 60s . Just try and not fall over I think.
Hope the photo session goes well. I doubt the photos will pick up the spiders. I wouldn’t worry about it.
So pleased you’re enjoying the company of your Canadian visitors.
Kaimoana i Hope your results weren’t bad. Those leaves are a mystery. Do you have any way of contacting the supplier.
Does the tea help?

Grammaretto Thu 24-Jul-25 07:34:24

Trevor should be in te reo Maori for sure.
After all he's a daring duck!

How frustrating about the leaves Kaimoana. I admire your patience and calm.

Kaimoana2 Thu 24-Jul-25 00:00:14

Oh dear Doodle I am so sorry about the results of the bone scan.
Hope the meds help.
My bone scan results just came in too.

No sign of the leaves yet but one of the ladies in my group brought an already-made-up bottle of Kumerhou tea for me and I am half-way down it. Trouble is, I need a regular supply of this tea for at least 3 weeks if not more.
But of course I didn't say so, I was grateful for what I got smile

Where the book goes and in what languages is entirely in the hands of my publisher Grammaretto, otherwise Trevor would be sweeping Europe and the USA! grin

I'd love to see his story in Gaelic, both versions and Cornish, Welsh) and other fragile languages, as well as in te reo Maori.

Grammaretto Wed 23-Jul-25 20:47:08

Fingers crossed 🤞 for that medication Doodle. The diagnosis sounds rather depressing. I hope it doesn't get you down.

I had the Canadian visitors today. It was really nice to see them again though I think their 2 teenage DGC were rather bored.

I have been scampering around trying to prepare the flat for tomorrow's photos. One set of curtains have vanished so I had to resurrect another set and borrow hooks from a friend at the yarn group.
While up the ladder I noticed dead flies and cobwebs but they will have to be dealt with tomorrow. I am tired now.

Where's Jeeves when you need him?
I could do with a night cap.cafe

Doodle Wed 23-Jul-25 19:23:56

Oh Kaimoana that’s great news. Well done. Trevor is certainly getting well travelled.
Seedy reply, that’s not like you. Witty yes, seedy no.
Any news on those leaves yet?
Well I had my bone scan today and the results have already reached the Gp who informs me I have brittle bones and osteoporosis. I am on new medication. Will see if that makes me any livelier.

Grammaretto Wed 23-Jul-25 18:02:47

Brilliant! Kaimoana. Now for the Gaelic version.......

ixion Wed 23-Jul-25 09:57:56

Oh wow, Kaimoana!
Congratulations!

NotSpaghetti Wed 23-Jul-25 08:10:09

How exciting Kaimoana - well done!

Kaimoana2 Wed 23-Jul-25 07:45:50

I promised I'd let you know when Trevor became a Pekin Duck. It's just been released.

NotSpaghetti Wed 23-Jul-25 01:18:05

"Thank you for your seedy reply."

What exactly were you suggesting when you got back to them??
🤔

Kaimoana2 Tue 22-Jul-25 23:24:33

I wonder if iron tablets would help you Doodle or the delicious Floradix liquid? It's clear you are quite run down and no wonder after all you have had to bear. Worth a try eh?

I replied by return to an offered appointment at Dermatology and they got back to me with:
"Thank you for your seedy reply." grin
Sometimes, typos make me smile.

NotSpaghetti Tue 22-Jul-25 22:11:34

Thank you Doodle - you too.

Night night all
I am very tired still. Forgot my hairdressers appointment today. 😱. Hospital for bone scan tomorrow. Been back to sit fit which is probably why I’m so out of it tonight.
Sleep well all

Doodle Mon 21-Jul-25 21:25:15

What a beautiful spot to visit Grammaretto. Lovely photo.
Shame your cousin lives so far away. Be nice if she could visit more often. Any news on a new lodger yet?
Kaimoana that’s good news. No point in having anything done you don’t really need or want.
Notspaghetti to be honest I’m still really tired so off to bed soon. Nice day yesterday though.
Sleep well all

NotSpaghetti Mon 21-Jul-25 09:03:42

Good news Kaimoana.

My mother-in-law was also offered a heart valve operation a few months ago but it was not 100% useful.
They put her on a "watch" list in case something comes up later.
She was happy with that.

Beautiful gardens Grammaretto - and some smart WBC hives too.

Pleased your church jolly went well, Doodle, hope you feel well rested this morning.

Kaimoana2 Mon 21-Jul-25 05:26:34

Had a good talk with my doctor today about the proposed operation to replace heart valves.

All the reasons most people have this op don't apply to me. So she's quite happy to agree that if I don't want it, I shouldn't bother.

I don't, so I won't grin

Grammaretto Sun 20-Jul-25 21:46:33

Tired but happy Doodle that sounds good. 😊

I've had a nice day too. I had coffee sitting outside the café with 3 Americans. Then I made a picnic lunch and drove down to Little Sparta, a garden created over years by Ian Hamilton Finlay, a poet and artist. It was really hot and when we got back it poured with rain with thunder.

Tomorrow I shall drive my cousin to the airport early and i may do the U3A walk if weather permits.

It's been like a holiday having her
here.
😊
