They're stunning Petra!
Do you ring the changes each year or have a set pattern?

It began as group support during difficult times and although Covid has faded a little, the friendship has endured and become stronger.
Still here for anyone to join a non-judgemental, caring thread during the often challenging time in life.
I'm a newbie - found friends after lockdown. Grateful to them for being so warm.

I believe the trick with bulbs is to continue feeding after they have flowered, taking the spent blooms off first.
The goodness for next year is in the leaves. (I used to live next door to a professional gardener
)
Yes - but where do you put 16 pots!
Thought you might like to see these beautiful viburnum and wigelia...
I won't show you the figs that the bloomin' squirrel was already crunching!!
Not even grown - let alone ripe!
Hello Lobstars!
Thanks for tracing our origins ixion
Such a long time and so supportive all the way.
I have the card from you all, but I think sent by Nortsat, after DH died.
❤️
Back to today. Your flowers are wonderful NotSpag . At least the squirrels leave you some. All my tulip bulbs have been devoured by deer.
My Dsis and BiL are staying and we have been so busy going for walks and catching up.
watching films, drinking wine and reminiscing I haven't had time to come on here.
DD and family were down at the weekend as was DS and DGS but not at the same time. Fifi, my help, has been a delight. Yesterday I let her off to explore Edinburgh but we'll all do something today. We may visit DD in the Highlands because auntie and uncle say they have never seen their niece's newest place.
We had a Very Important meeting with the Music school people yesterday. I hope it all goes ahead.
Fingers crossed 🤞
Some photos from yesterday's walk.
Morning All
It's been a pretty good weekend on the whole considering that my HRT pills are out of stock and I'm having to go cold turkey! (Aching all over and the headache started as I was driving home yesterday.) I'd been thinking of coming off them as I'm on the tiniest dose of just oestrogen, but it apparently helps with my appalling memory and likelihood of developing osteoporosis. A strong possibility as my DM and DGM both suffered. The surgery opens in half an hour and I'll be waiting on the door step!
The photo is of DS kite surfing at Old Hunstanton. One of my favourite places and I'd hoped the strong north wind might help lift my spirits. "Come and take photos" he said. And then stays out to sea on the other side of a large deep pool rather than closer in further along the beach with the others. Even with 30 times telephoto my old SLR couldn't do much! By the time the tide came in enough for him to be closer I was an icicle and Kira definitely wasn't happy!
Petra, advise needed. what do you do with your finished flowering tulips? I have a lot in the garden of the common sort which stay in and make up, but fancier ones flower once and just vanish. Do you lift them and replant? If so when? Help please!
I'm also new to fig growing and had no idea that squirrels ate them. It hadn't occurred to me. And I have figs coming. Lots of them! Should I thin them out? We got the first ones. Six of them, just a few weeks before DH died and it was wonderful to be able to share them fresh from the tree and warm from the sun. A first for both of us and a special moment.
I do hope your Big Meeting went the way you wanted Grammaretto. Fingers crossed and I hope you're not left in suspense too long.
(I just looked to see if the fingers crossed emoji - I hadn't noticed that the Father Christmas' are there. Is it early for C? Or just left over?)
Off to get ready to await the opening of the surgery. I could sit on the phone but after three days closed its going to be manic.
Good morning.
In answer to what do with them when they’ve gone over.
The ones that have bloomed stay in the pots. ( remember to water if it’s very dry at the beginning of the year)
Those that didn’t are dug out.
I don’t mind too much as it gives me a good excuse to look at the the glorious Sarah Raven site.
For those who aren’t familiar with this site: be warned, it’s addictive 🥰
Feast your eyes.

I clearly have to be moderated
🤔
Sorry, Petra - I didn't mean to echo your words- didn't have my glasses on🤦♀️
Didn’t post for a while, sorry. My tiny great grandson has developed sepsis (at 8 days old) and we were all really worried. My granddaughter tells me he is now slowly responding to the antibiotics and they are hoping for improvement soon.
Please can all the lovely people on here do whatever it is they do to wish people well on these occasions, pray, swear, anything, but this little boy has just GOT to get well. The same goes for any other babies/youngsters known to you who are suffering too. Thankyou x
Sorry if this post is in the wrong place., My head is all over the place.
How terrible Crossstitchfan - I'm sure my head would be the same.
🙏
I'm rooting for him crosstitchfan
And praying. Poor wee soul xxx
🤞 🙏
Your family, Crosstitchfan, especially the baby boy’s parents, must be so anxious and distressed. I can imagine how hard they are wishing for his recovery, and I am happy to add my own wishes along with doubtless many other Grans who may read your post. Get well, little man.
It is only a matter of weeks since I asked so many caring Grans to pray for my friend’s Husband, who was critically ill with a brain bleed. Unfortunately and in the middle of so many caring responses, yours was a lone voice expressing your disapproval of Gransnet being used ‘for such a thing’.
And yet, here you are.
How easy it seems when something affects you so personally to swing from someone expressing almost an empathy bypass, to someone desperate enough to then ask for the very assistance they so firmly denounced! Please accept some advice - maybe think and don’t post if you’re in a bad mood or likely to cause someone in distress even further distress. There are a lot of good souls on GN who deserve better!
Praying for you dear little boy crossstitchfan hope he improves soon.
Sorry all will read bu not post much fo a bit I have broken my right wrist ina fall. Not long got in from hospital. Love to allxx
Hello All. No Nfk you haven’t missed me passing by I’m afraid. It’s been a very long and stressful few weeks or maybe months - I’m not sure. Nothing terribly dreadful just the after effects of my stroke - I won’t bore you with the details. And also thanks to Grandmafrench who led me indirectly back to you all as I couldn’t find you anywhere! Crosstitchfan nice to meet you and am so so sorry about your little great grandson. Had no idea such tiny babies could suffer from sepsis. Fingers crossed the poor little boy improves very soon.
Doodle you are so busy you make me feel tired! You are doing so well on the outside although I know only too well how you feel on the inside.
Hello to all the newbies on here - it’s nice to meet you and welcome to our great group. Think I had better go back to the below and catch up on all the news and my apologies for being absent without leave! Will try to do better in the future! Love to All - Jan
Oh, no, Doodle.
What a catastrophe, I'm so sorry. You must be proper shook up. 😢
Jeeves is on his way, PDQ.
Take care xx
Oops! So sorry Doodle. Only just seen your post about your broken wrist. Bless you. Know how you feel as I broke mine about 18 months ago. Hope it’s not too painful. Did they just pull it back in place? That’s how they treated mine. Will be thinking about you. Sending love xx
Thank s all need operation. Sadly it’s my dominant right hand x
Hope you have suitable assistance at home now and after your op.
Thinking of you xx
What bad luck, Doodle, so sad to hear you’ve had an accident. Please let everyone else take the strain for a while, so you’ll have an uncomplicated recovery (and a.s.a.p).
Sorry you’ve been struggling, Jan. ‘Nothing dreadful’, you say. But it takes a lot of courage, motivation and ‘grit’ to keep moving forward. Take care, please, we’re thinking of you. x
NotS Don't understand what you mean! 16 pots? Leave them where they are or if you must empty them, pop 'em in the garage or shed. My bulbs stay in the pots and fed after flowering until dead of winter then I dry themoff and replace the pottin mix and them for the Spring.
What the heck, Doodle. Yuk, that must have been such a shock. Poor you. I know someone who broke their wrist a few months ago, she was operated on about a week later and has made a great recovery so 🤞. Take it easy and accept all the help you can get so you rest it. Sending healing cwtches X.
