Can't help being nice to you; you're a source of comfort and refuge just when your family need it.

Lots of talking therapies available now as its been recognised that all couples go through it, especially in such busy, busy, busy lives.

Trust that it'll come right, try not to takes sides but love both sides if you can.

Will be thinking of you all and hoping for a comfortable outcome for all. Much love xx

Hello. So kind of you to miss me. I'm a bit discombobulated at the moment as my middle daughter arrived on the doorstep recently with her daughter... She is thinking her marriage is over.
I know it's nothing to do with me but everything seems such a mess
She says they "don't talk properly anymore". I love them all and just feel so sad

I have said all the usual stuff but think they will be here for a while

Please don't be too nice to me! Waaaagh!

Doodle Sun 08-Mar-26 22:03:52

Kaimoana wouldn’t it be better to move somewhere where you have more help and people around you? I don’t know what your options are but I think doing something now would be better than waiting in case they decide they will sell your house. What does your son think? Glad the eye patch makes your other eye more comfortable. Sending love and hugs.

Grammaretto it would be good if you could find somewhere close to where you want to live. Moving away where you don’t know people might not be a good idea. I hope the right thing turns up for you.

ixion I love your little army. Puts a whole new meaning on “go to work on an egg” 🤣

Grammaretto Sun 08-Mar-26 11:12:48

These straying gang members Doodle shakes head in disappointment

And no teacakes at the Hospice! what is the world coming to.
I couldn't resist buying a card for its sentiments.
I am sending it to you all who will appreciate it.

It was good to see sparky again. He says he doesn't go with the house. grin I'm glad the doorbell works as I may have to start showing viewers around the house.

I have been offered the services of 3 youngsters as house clearance helpers, who are saving for trips overseas.

One came to make plates in the pottery yesterday, with her dad. She got the hang of it very quickly. Her dad was less certain about his efforts.

Great to see you Kaimoana. It must be hard to decide whether to move away or to hang on in there. The devil you know and all that.
On the other hand it could be just the change you need.

I hope that by putting my house on the market, music man will realise i haven't all the time in the world.
All the advice is to do this soon so I can be out before next winter.

I was asked out to dinner last night by my Portuguese friend. We often dance together at ceilidh dancing. She's a fabulous cook so it was divine.
She let me see over her house - a new build on a featureless estate miles from anywhere but warm and efficient.
If only I could have her house but in my position.
Still it's not to be.

I wonder what your appropriate clothing is like in church ixion? Do show! I hope the sermon is short.

I'm off to do some cleaning or gardening or both.

Kaimoana2 Sat 07-Mar-26 23:13:12

Loved the Sparky story, obviously you get on well - nice. smile

I am dithering about my house move = should I just stay put - I can, they won't evict me but they do want to sell.
So MUCH work involved in packing, especiallt when I cant see.

I bought an eye patch yesterday because although I cannot distinguish anything at all with right eye, it feels differently and keeps trying to see, causing a lot of pain.
So now I look like a rather scruffy pirate wink but my right eye is much happier.

ixion Sat 07-Mar-26 23:09:18

Do you think that putting your house on the market, Grammaretto, will galvanise Music Man into making a sensible and swift offer? That would be really helpful if he makes the right offer. It's sealed bids over the Border, isn't it?

Loved the tale of the impressive family tree!

Doodle, I think you would make a really good Welcomer❤️.
Our church has heating issues, so the congregation has been asked to come with appropriate clothing.
Maybe the sermon will be shorter?🫣

What news, NN, NS and other 🦞Gang members?

Doodle Sat 07-Mar-26 22:09:10

Grammaretto if you put your house up for sale I’m assuming that means music man has to come up with the money or someone else gets it.
I love how Sparky just turns up out of the blue. Nice you had a cuppa together,
Went to the hospice for lunch today. They’d sold out of tea cakes 😱. I had a bowl of cold roast vegetables which was actually quite nice. Went and did a big shop then home for jigsaw.
Church welcomer in the morning so off to bed for an early night now. Sleep well all

Grammaretto Fri 06-Mar-26 23:22:22

Sounds like plenty of exercise Doodle
Well done helping DGS with the family tree Ixion

It reminds me when DD was doing hers and DH could trace his side back to Robert the Bruce on 11 different lines, he made her a proper tree....
We went to the school on parents' night and the family trees were pinned on the wall.
Hers stood out like a sore thumb. Most of the others had written mum and dad, granny and grandad without any names.
Poor DD was mortified.

Sorry about your disappearing post Jan
All the best for Monday.🙏 I think I had thought you were seeing the oncologist yesterday.

The solicitor doesn't have any magic to suggest for buying the house. He says I must put my house on the open market .
So I intend to do that.

Sparky called unexpectedly tonight to fix the door bell. Luckily I was downstairs in the pottery so he knocked on the window.
He fixed the bell, had a cuppa and a catch-up and went away with a few books and bits and pieces and a jar of marmalade.

I'm feeling a lot better today but have a busy weekend so hope I sleep tonight.

I hope to hear from Kaimoana and. Cherry soon.

Doodle Fri 06-Mar-26 21:45:40

Ooh Grammaretto you saucy minx. In bed with a hottie indeed. 😱🤣
Pleased you enjoyed the Biba collection. Poor man on the bus. Good people were helping.
Jan hope all goes well on Monday and you find a way of coping with the travelling.
ixion good you have the m for at hand for DGS1s family tree
Yes I too am wondering about Kaimoana and Cherry too.
I’ve been out with the walking group today which was good. I am trying to get my hip to work a bit better although the GP says it’s referred pain from my knee. Don’t really understand but either way both have been exercised. .

ixion Fri 06-Mar-26 21:18:39

I too was going to suggest, Jan, looking at booking in to a hotel/Airbnb, but didn't realise that, all being well, your daily trips would be so short in duration.
Hospital transport would be the ideal solution, wouldn't it?
Thinking of you both, whatever emerges❤️.

Exciting times potentially, Grammaretto 🏡. I think we are all excited and hope you are too. Have you broached the family yet?! Is the project still within your town and close to all your existing contacts?
Everything crossed 🤞

Wondering if Kaimoana has her 'Sometime in March' procedure date yet?
Waiting is hard, isn't it, especially if you have to make arrangements for support backup at home.

DGS1 'needs' a family tree for his school homework. Last minute crisis call, as is his wont, as ever.
That's me for the weekend.

Luckily I have the bumpf to hand, it's just a question of how to transfer the info I have on Ancestry: I'm sure the site allows me to create a simplified tree for him, but how to send it is something I will have to figure out.
PDQ, I guess. 🙄

Jan16 Fri 06-Mar-26 18:19:25

Why do posts disappear on here?!! Grrrrrrr! Have now completely lost what I was going to say. So annoying. Right must get my brain into gear! Firstly we will have more idea of what will be happening with DH treatment when we see the Oncologist. If as we suspect it will be radiotherapy DH will probably have to use hospital transport. We managed very well when the same thing happened a few years ago as DH drove to the hospital and I drove home. However that was pre stroke and although I am driving now I think it’s unlikely I could drive 50 miles.
As for staying in an hotel we have considered this but radiotherapy takes at the most 15 minutes and what to do stuck in an hotel room for the rest of the day? I am still not very mobile and wouldn’t be able to walk around shops etc for long.
So we will see what happens on Monday and thanks to you alk for reading my many moans! By the way where is Cherry?

Grammaretto Thu 05-Mar-26 21:55:07

How did it go today. Jan? I hope you are clearer now about the best way to proceed.
You'll be tired.

I enjoyed the Biba exhibition. It took us back to our youth. I still have some Biba makeup!

My cold hasn't gone yet so I'm sure my friend thinks I should have stayed at home. 🤧

A poor man had a seizure on the bus home. I told the driver who stopped the bus and another passenger held the man's head to stop him choking. People are good aren't they.

No more house news though I have written letters.
I'm in bed already with a hottie.
Night night xx

Doodle Thu 05-Mar-26 21:41:02

Dear Jan such a worry. Hope they’re all ok. What a lot you have to cope with. That is indeed a long journey. Could you stay ina hotel for the duration of the treatment rather than do that journey twice a day. Hope your Dh copes well with the treatment.
Grammaretto wow things are happening for you too. Hope it all works out. Have a lovely time with your friend in Edinburgh.
ixion iam abot remiss with my exercises. Must do more. It’s just that I’m out so much it’s hard to find time but I have to.

Naughtyneine Thu 05-Mar-26 11:20:21

Oh Jan... That's a real worry for you. I will pray that they are kept safe and able to travel soon.
Grammaretto....yippee.. Some Good News on the 'Operation Move' project. It all sounds so exciting, what must be fine first ( presuming you can't move straight in, or can you? Do you think you will be able to move n the Summer months? Keep us posted on the plans....

Grammaretto Thu 05-Mar-26 10:21:17

Oh Jan!! What a nightmare.
All you can do is today's journey, hear what the experts say and then decide.

I doubt the Cyprus family will be travelling at the beginning of April. 😢

Can you postpone the party for when there's more to celebrate?

I'm wishing you and him all the very best.
Keep safe.

Jan16 Wed 04-Mar-26 19:31:37

Hello from a somewhat stressed lobstar! Have decided that old age is no joke whatsoever! DH has been backwards and forwards to Dermatology for many years. Having bits and pieces chopped off! Now he has a squamous cell carcinoma on his face which has to be sorted. First option is surgery but no says the surgeon
. 9 hour op 2 weeks in hospital and probably complications afterwards. Option no 2 is radiotherapy. Fine except our hospital cant do radiotherapy so hospital cant do radiotherapy so its a 50 mile journey probably every day for 3 weeks. Third option is immunotherapy which may or may not work and could take 2 years. So on Monday we are off to do a 100 mile round trip to see the Oncologist. Oh joy!
In the meantime DHs daughter lives in Cyprus. Right!! He is now on the phone to her to see what the situation is. He has a big birthday at the beginning of April and was so hoping she and husband would be able to come over. Seems unlikely now.
So thats me somewhat p….d off and waiting for the news from Cyprus! Wish us luck All

Grammaretto Wed 04-Mar-26 16:11:35

You can uncross those fingers now Kaimoana at least I think you should.
The architect loves the house and thinks I should act quickly to make an offer but I should speak to my solicitor.

It will cost a lot to put right and to make it special but nothing he and his builder can't manage.

He would prefer to be building the new house but this is the next best option. He agrees there are advantages with this too
There have been 3 offers refused already so I mustn't get my hopes up.

There is a sitfit class here Doodle but it clashes with yoga.
There's still the Monday morning exercise class so I think that's plenty. 😂

Tomorrow I shall visit a friend in Edinburgh. I hope the sun has shone on you all today. It's been blue skies here.

Kaimoana2 Tue 03-Mar-26 22:43:50

How did it go Grammaretto ? I had my fingers crossed for you. maade it a bit hard to eat but I persevered smile

"yes, Doodle, the one I see over my knee"

That's right, give 'em a smack ! grin

ixion Tue 03-Mar-26 22:20:45

I am sure that seated exercises would suit me perfectly.

Current physio for my knee has led to two lots of exercises (sets and reps - see, I have had so much physio contact, I've adopted the lingo).

My nice young physio (yes, Doodle, the one I see over my knee😉), having ascertained that I am now a retired housewife, has given me strengthening exercises which I can do at the kitchen sink or worktop. Gee, thanks

Not so welcoming is the one which involves a convoluted floor exercise. The exercise itself is OK to do, it's the getting down and getting up which is the major problem.

Really hope all goes well with your house visit tomorrow, Grammaretto.

Hello, or, rather, goodnight to all 🦞in this swift post.

Doodle Tue 03-Mar-26 21:05:27

Sit fit was good Grammaretto it’s a U3A one and run by a retired physiotherapist. Lots of people attend as it’s so good. You could try and see if you have anything similar around.
Yes good to see some sunshine. Still quite chilly but everything looks brighter in the sun
