Day off today. Pizza at my daughter's

Hope other 🦞🦂 are OK

NotSpaghetti Sat 18-Oct-25 12:07:32

Couldn't post on the other thread... hope this is why?!

CherryCezzy Sat 18-Oct-25 13:11:14

It is :why NotSpaghetti.
Enjoy your time at your DD's today.

Yes Grammaretto I too would like to see others drop in from time to time even though I do so infrequently. It would be lovely to know how, for example, Nfk is doing and if Jan is okay.

We are missing you Kaimoana, I'm sending you my love and heartfelt cwtches x.

Thanks for your love and cwtches the other day Doodle, they are appreciated 🧡. My WP isn't great at the moment but 🤞 that should right itself soon. I must admit I'm struggling a bit but even though I lose my Tigger tail regularly I do find it and attach it and go about my day.

In one incarnation what was it we all said Keep on keeping on
Keep on keeping on lobStars 🌻 X

Hello Cherry
Because I think it must have been full again.
We may not all post all the time but 100 posts seem to come up quite quickly!

CherryCezzy Sat 18-Oct-25 15:19:22

Yep, another 1000 posts NotSpaghetti 😊.

Doodle Sat 18-Oct-25 19:01:46

Thanks for starting us up again Notspaghetti
Yes it’s 1000 posts per thread, I can’t think how many times we’ve opened a new group now since we started the first one Cherry.
Yes I too would love to know what everyone is up to but I realise others have busy lives or troubles and don’t feel like posting.
I would love to know how Spud is getting on if you’re reading Mamissimo . Yes Jan and Nfk too.
ixion thank you for keeping in touch when you can.
Kaimoana missing you a lot.
Grammaretto have you still got your DGDs with you?
I’ve had a nice day. Been for lunch at a garden centre with friends. Updated site and very nice cafe. Managed to find a few Christmas presents. Now all I have to do is remember where I put them when the time comes.

NotSpaghetti Sat 18-Oct-25 19:18:49

yes.. I'm full of errors - 1000 not 100!
🙄
Sorry

CherryCezzy Sun 19-Oct-25 04:20:46

Here we are Kaimoana x

Kaimoana2 Sun 19-Oct-25 06:16:58

I don't know, I take my eye off you for just a few minutes and you all dash off !! Or have I got BO?

wink
Huge thanks to Grammaretto & Cherry for assistance.

It's all change at Kaimoana Central, not quite at the Terminus though.

First I'm moving because my son had plans to take all the family back to the UK, then I'm not moving because he's coming home in a few days time.

Then I realised could still move because my DGD would come over from Tauranga and pack for me and make everything smooth.
Tauranga is coastal town, very beautiful, very popular with retirees and very, very expensive.

But whatever happens on the next turn of the roundabout, I am still sorting and getting rid of thing I don't need.

I'll pack items I don't need in daily ife: some precious books and photo albums, dictionaries/thesauri, just in case a family member wants them.

I'll try to make regular posts here - we go back a long time, don't we, and I value your friendship.

Grammaretto Sun 19-Oct-25 11:33:22

It's my turn to find the new pool!
Thanks NotSpag for starting it.

Amazing news Kaimoana from both hemispheres.

Is it so much dearer to live in Tauranga? It sounds gorgeous.
My chiropractor, here, comes from there where his brother is a doctor.

Yesterday was very good for me. I took the girls on the fungal foray and they turned out to be the best hunters ever, although they began by telling the leader that mushrooms are disgusting.

My pots came back from the woodfiring and I am pleased with them. I met my Helper at the theatre in Edinburgh in the evening and we enjoyed the Seagull.
She, helper, had spent the day at the Smallholders Festival at the Highland Showground also in Edinburgh
She said it was wonderful - 25 breeds of sheep 🐏🐑 and wonderful spotty🐖. She watched a group of firefighters learning how to catch runaway pigs.
She was laden with purchases when she arrived at the theatre.

Sorry to hear WP isn't doing too well Cherry

Sending cwtches xx

Thank goodness you found us Kaimoana.
Well here we are again getting settled into another thread. Amazing we’ve been going since lockdown. Supporting each other through some hard to cope with situations.
I know you’d love to spend more time with Gubbins and your son Kaimoana but I wonder if life might be better for you with your other granddaughter. It sounds a beautiful place. Maybe you could get more help there. Your son has a lot on his hands looking after his wife and family and your granddaughter seems keen to have you near her. A lot to honk about,
Gammaretto Young children are often very forthright. Glad they had a good time foraging.
Glad you had a nice time with your new helper. She certainly gets around.
Cherry Hoping you and WP are coping with life and on the mend.
Church for me this morning then a disappointing afternoon painting (it went in the bin). Went to a beautiful Taize service tonight. So lovely. I needed that.

Grammaretto Sun 19-Oct-25 21:27:08

DH used to sing Taizé every Sunday afternoon Doodle. He loved it.
I should go again.

My new Helper is leaving on
Tuesday. She's been here for 2 weeks already. I'll miss her but she promises to come and stay again.
I took her to see the Great Polish Map of Scotland, today. She cooked dinner while I wrote a report on that conference I attended. I also had to unpick some sewing. 😒

Sorry your painting didn't come up to your high standards Cézanne Doodle 🤣😅

ixion Sun 19-Oct-25 21:42:58

Well, here I am, I think that, in a fit of domestic enthusiasm, I must have hoovered up the trail of breadcrumbs to our new Hatchery.
Never mind, have found you all now and caught up with your news.

Kaimoana - how long is DS over for? I hope you will have time for a quiet session à deux to hear exactly how he and his little family are faring and what his next plans are. Tauranga certainly looks a lovely place. Is the climate very similar? I hope you will find a thriving community like you have at present - and one which is supportive.

As Doodle says in her own inimitable style
A lot to honk about 😉

And
Grammaretto - you had such a good day yesterday! I would have loved The Seagull and am very envious. We 'did' it at school as a set book - which had the effect of turning me right off at the time. Analysing and dissecting killed the enjoyment, but I returned much later and found all his books a great read.

The foraging went well! Apart from me and Mr.I, I have raised a household of mushroom averse offspring.
This is all thanks to DS1 who, as a small child, announced that they were devils' spawn.
Consequently, none of the others would ever countenance them to this day.

Do you paint at home, Doodle, or just with your group? Is it like 'homework' for the next class- or for pleasure?😉

I finally got antibiotics for my poorly tooth.

Ah, says the receptionist from hell. So it was an infection after all. Lucky we got you in.
🐄

Kaimoana2 Sun 19-Oct-25 22:45:46

Now how did you know I was working on a children's (true) story about a soldier goose Doodle? I may or may not sending it (honking all the way) to a publisher.

Lovely photo of Fly Agaric Gram. I have a photo-library of fungus.

I'm not sure of DS plans but I'm content to wait.

**Jacob the goose was made an officer of the Coldstream Guard in the 1850's.

Doodle Sun 19-Oct-25 23:11:44

Gracious Ixion I missed that typo. I wondered what you were talking about. Quite how the word think became honk I don’t know. I might start a new trend. 🤣

Kaimoana2 Mon 20-Oct-25 08:03:42

I was just looking through this week's Deals online at the supermarket and saw "Kangaroo, Sweet potao and green bean".
Always game to try something different, I clicked on it and found it was dog food hmm
The same firm also do Posssum & Vegetables.
Dogs get all the best food!

ixion Mon 20-Oct-25 10:08:25

🤣

Doodle Mon 20-Oct-25 21:20:50

Kaimoana that really made me laugh. 🤣

Been to a lovely party today for a dear 90 year old church friend. An amazing lady has no living family but so many people turned up in the care home to wish her well.

ixion Mon 20-Oct-25 22:53:02

How lovely that your friend had such a good celebration, Doodle. I think it is often the case that a strong friendship circle can be as meaningful and supportive as a missing - for whatever reason - family network.

Had a lovely brunch out with my DF, we have known each other since playgroup days (1982!). Got home and decided that although the warm(ish) and sunny weather dictated some weeding, cutting back and autumn planting, my inner indulgent self decided I could sit about and do stuff just for me.

Catch up day tomorrow!

Grammaretto Tue 21-Oct-25 17:14:44

Your birthday party sounds perfect Doodle and your brunch too ixion

Tonight I'm giving my Gaelic presentation and feel very under prepared.
I have been distracted by hearing that my planning application has been refused. The architect thinks we should appeal but I told myself that I wouldn't so am quite down about it all.
At least my DC will be relieved.
I'm going to stay with DS1 in Ireland soon.

The weather was so nice yesterday, a crowd of us U3A walkers trekked 7½ miles along the beautiful river Tweed and I don't have any horrid after effects.

I also laughed at the dog's dinner you wanted to buy Kaimoana

Look forward to your goosey book honk!

ixion Tue 21-Oct-25 17:27:12

🏠 Nooooo Grammaretto! Surely not😫

Sending you my 🥊🥊s.

CherryCezzy Tue 21-Oct-25 19:24:49

Drat blasphemous language Grammaretto, I'm so sorry that this has happened, I know how much you want/ed this.
Here was I thinking that governments of all shades wanted houses to be built!
As your architect thinks an appeal might be worth a shot is there any chance you'll give it one more spin?

Sending you my love and warmest heartfelt cwtches X

Doodle Tue 21-Oct-25 20:47:53

Oh Grammaretto I’m so sorry. Not surprised you’re upset, they’ve kept you waiting a long time. What will you do now.
Hope the presentation goes well. At least you have a trip to Ireland to look forward to. Hope that will lift your spirits.

Nice to hear from you Cherry and Ixion. Ive been out shopping today (didn’t buy anything) but managed to get soaked twice. Came home and had a hot shower and washed my hair then settled in with a hot drink.

Grammaretto Tue 21-Oct-25 21:04:19

It's taken since last December already, meeting all the obstacles with reports from Arborealists and Topographical experts.
No I believe from the way the refusal letter has been written that there isn't a hope in hell of getting the planners to change their minds.

I was going to see the architect tomorrow but I'll phone him instead.

You are quite right Cherry there is no justice when it comes to house building.

The Gaelic presentation went surprisingly well which was a relief.

Doodle Wed 22-Oct-25 20:12:02

Really sorry all your plans have come to nothing. Such a shame. Is there an alternative plan maybe turning your home into flats so you could keep living there if that’s what you wanted?
Had a lovely morning at church. Spent afternoon knitting.
