Shall we put on a panto say on 28th Dec when the hoo ha has died down. We could do it like a free form chat.
Which one shall we do and what part will you volunteeer for- we can have several people playing the same part.
Anyone game?
Oh yes you are!!!!!!!!!!grin

Can I (hopefully) nominate supernana and butternut to write some beautiful prose to the mysterious girl who disappears at midnight?

BurgundyGran Mon 19-Dec-11 17:19:48

sad I can't do it. My daughter gets married that day and we will be otherwise engaged. Dressing up, drinking, eating, making merry - Oh sounds like a panto!

Annobel Mon 19-Dec-11 17:34:14

I think you are excused, BurgundyGran! Lovely to have a wedding to look forward to. You must tell us all about it! Hope you've got a nice hat.

I think that I could play a part,
A love for panto's in my heart,
If I played the part of Cinders
I'd mop the floor and clean the winders (sic)

But if the Fairy Godmother I should be,
I'd wave my wand and sing with glee,
Creating horses from common mice,
And making Cinders look so nice.

An ugly sister? I'd love the chance!
To steal the tickets for the dance,
And tell that Cinders she can't attend,
She has to clean out the U bend!

The Prince? That I should aim so high!
To lead the dance and slap my thigh!
'Till midnight strikes upon the clock,
And Cinders has inflamed my heart

(Couldn't think of a rhyme there!)

Phoenix shock!

nanachrissy Mon 19-Dec-11 22:23:15

Phoenix grin

Anne58 Mon 19-Dec-11 23:08:46

What?!?

Anne58 Mon 19-Dec-11 23:17:39

Actually I'm a bit miffed as I did about three or four more verses,(sensible ones, well , ish) then the sodding computer went all hissy fit, I couldn't even c&P into a word doc to save it. Bugger. But you had probably had enough at that stage.

Carol Mon 19-Dec-11 23:49:48

Phoenix smile

yogagran Tue 20-Dec-11 00:14:02

We want more Phoenix, we want more....
faye's earlier comment about falling asleep during the Christmas party immediately made me think of the dormouse in Alice in Wonderland

em Tue 20-Dec-11 00:21:27

Oh Phoenix I've never read a stroppier post!! I could hear the stamping of the feet.

The rhymes are going oh so well
And suddenly descend to hell!
She's canvassing for every part
But then she seems to break her heart
And so the feet do stamp and hop
As Phoenix has a major strop.
I'm sure my dear you'll turn your hand to
Any role you're given in panto!

Anne58 Tue 20-Dec-11 01:10:20

Em, that's brill!

I wish I had been able to save the post, i will have to hope it comes back to me, but for now I'm off to bed.

Night all.

Faye Tue 20-Dec-11 01:37:40

I would be happy..please
to be given a part I could do with ease
Maybe a part as a little mouse
one of those who cleans Cinderella's house
Otherwise I might be found asleep
sitting behind my laptop in a heap
Waking up at a later date
feeling sad that I was too late
I love the thought of a pantomine
spoken in the Aussie strine!!! grin

Joan Tue 20-Dec-11 06:11:46

I'd like to be a belle of St Trinians who gatecrashes the ball.

I'm a Belle of St Trinians
Got no time for the minions
Who do what they're told and are good

I'm bad to the core
Do you want to know more?
Well I don't really think that you should.

I wear what I want,
and go where I will
And do all the things others hate

So if you don't want me
To upset your party
You'd better put guards on the gate.

Love it but not sure I could manage any of my lines in poetic form but if you could. Could HQ help us preserve this artistic endeavour in some way?
Keep going Ladies the panto is anytime all day on 28th December - its Cinderella with as many twists and funky turns as we can.grin

yogagran Tue 20-Dec-11 14:12:41

Shall I do the costumes and make-up?

Anne58 Tue 20-Dec-11 18:52:25

That would be great yogagran . Do you have access to industrial strength lycra and a trowel?

Annika Tue 20-Dec-11 18:58:36

I could do the lighting if there is no one else to do it I have a powerful torch that could do the spotlight, but we need more than that any ideas anyone ?hmm

Anne58 Tue 20-Dec-11 19:08:41

I think that these days I'm better when underlit, tbh. Spotlights just tend to highlight the wrinkles.

If I keep on with the ciggies I could provide smoke effects for some scenes, but then the coughing might drown out the dialogue (or singing?)

On that note (pun!) who is going to be in charge of the song sheet with the bouncing ball thingy?

em Tue 20-Dec-11 19:48:12

Let's gather round for Cinderella
We know she'll get her lovely fella.
But what about the Ugly Dames?
Suggestions for the sisters' names.

Annobel Tue 20-Dec-11 20:39:36

Rubella and Salmonella?

Annika Tue 20-Dec-11 21:35:16

Annobel grin

JessM Tue 20-Dec-11 21:45:33

Done!

gracesmum Wed 21-Dec-11 12:12:24

yogagran if you are doing the costumes don't forget the IKEA dresses for the ugly sisters (not original but it makes me laugh) - you know, you only have to walk past and the drawers come off. Boom! Boom!

susiecb Wed 21-Dec-11 15:33:03

I think I''ll be Chlamydia the Ugly Sisters Uglier Sister.
