I am fascinated by superstitions and am wondering if anyone actually believes them? any strange stories or bizarre superstitions? I refuse to walk over 3 drains...

There`s a wildflower, or a weed, called Shepherds Purse, but we kids called it Mother Die, because if you picked it, your mother would die. Needless to say, I never saw anyone brave enough to flout it!

like dandelions, if you picked them you would wet your bed!

And if buttercups reflected yellow on your neck, you liked butter!

My X is convinced he is 'fey', when we lived in a very old farmhouse he would not sleep in one of the bedrooms as he said an old man was sitting on the bed watching him. he would not even walk though part of the building.
But,,, DDs cat would also not walk through there, he would go outside the building and come in again through her bedroom window, and only when she was there.
Never noticed anything myself.
I grew up in Scotland and there seemed to be a superstition for everything, the only one I tend to keep to is no new shoes on the table, old worn ones are fine.
