Having read the thread on hymns I wonder if we might enjoy a good virtual sing together? There'd be no one to complain or overhear us individually 'gieing it laldy'.
We could choose a hymn/song and set a time to start. Me in my small corner...

Can I sing the descant please? I used to be in a choir.

Oopsadaisy12 Tue 13-Mar-18 08:29:51

That sounds like fun!
Or not.
Can I mime? And play my air guitar?

Elegran. GN organised a sing along at Christmas 2011 - we sang Oh come all ye faithful, turned on our web cams and all appeared by magic on the screen. Dozens of ladies of a certain age all warbling along together. I remember late DH cringing in the corner of the kitchen as I joined in grin ??
We should try it again.
?? GN ??

When my mum was in hospital we were chatting about when she met Dad and they danced to 'Autumn Leaves'. I burst into song, 'When Autumn leaves drift by your window....'

'You've always liked that song, haven't you Mum?' I said.

'I used to!'

We played it at her funeral. No I didn't sing it but it made me smile!

I was once in a choir and we sang When Father Papered the Parlour lemongrove. It was many years ago. We did an evening of Victorian songs. One was especially melancholic, The Long Day Closes, right up the Victorians street. I had a good voice once, not so much these days though.

Would you all like my moving rendition of ‘When Father Papered The Parlour’ ? What do you mean, NO! angry

Jalima1108 Mon 12-Mar-18 21:23:25

Well, I'm singing along to Fats Waller, thank you for the link on the other thread Fennel

oops, I mentioned another thread blush

Fennel Mon 12-Mar-18 17:06:42

When this thread started I suddenly thought of "Button Up Your Overcoat" as husband was going out. I played it on youtube:

Not sure I'd want to actually listen to it!

mcem Mon 12-Mar-18 16:55:25

Yes how did we manage a real (not virtual) sing along?
I know there was a reference to a link where we could listen to it but can't access it.

Jane10 Mon 12-Mar-18 16:32:55

2,3,4 hit it katek! Oh no. What are we actually singing?

nanaK54 Mon 12-Mar-18 16:05:22

Oopsadaisy12 Mon 12-Mar-18 15:51:08

I loved right said Fred and the Hole in the Ground!

kittylester Mon 12-Mar-18 15:46:29

What'll you pay me not to join in - even virtually!!

We did have a real sing-a-long one Christmas I think Elegran and I didn't dare join in that one!!

Jane10 Mon 12-Mar-18 15:43:21

Confusing lyrics - Maud's waiting at the gate for Fred?

Greyduster Mon 12-Mar-18 15:31:31

Not really any wonder I’m alone is it?? hmm

Greyduster Mon 12-Mar-18 15:30:48

Well, jane, ?I’m here at the gate aloooone, I’m here at the gaaate aaalone! ? (Have we started yet??).

lemongrove Mon 12-Mar-18 15:27:51

I would do the whole of ‘Right Said Fred’ ( the Bernard Cribbins one) if you all ask nicely......I know all the words ( but not necessarily in the right order.)

Oopsadaisy12 Mon 12-Mar-18 15:22:15

Ouch lemongrove, your making my ears Bleed! As my GS once said to me, bless his little soul Grrrrrr.
Jane, needs must as my DM used to say, a different choice of song though so you think? I think yours might be taken too literally .

Jane10 Mon 12-Mar-18 15:00:32

That'll do the trick oops. I couldn't get a seat on the bus the other day. If it happens again I might give them a quick burst of 'Hit me with your rhythm stick'.

lemongrove Mon 12-Mar-18 14:59:12

What’s that caterwauling noise I can hear? grin oh, sorry.....can I join in?
Ahem ( clears throat) ‘Blackbird singing in the dead of night, taken these broken wings and learn to fly, all your life, you have only been waititing for this moment to arrive, Blackbird fly.....warble....??????

Oopsadaisy12 Mon 12-Mar-18 14:53:55

I think I have found a way to get a sunbed by the pool.
I shall sing them all a song!
See them run.....

Oopsadaisy12 Mon 12-Mar-18 14:52:49

Um nope Jane,
gin o clock arrived approx 14.00 hours with an umbrella in it.
The cocktail kind, not the one by the pool.

Elegran Mon 12-Mar-18 14:52:07

I don't know how it was done, Jane. It was when Geraldine was editor of Gransnet, she must have known what to do.
