If you need cheering up in these wintry Brexit days here's one that always makes me smile:

Even Bob Dylan smiles at times.

Bob Dylan never looked happier than when he was with The Travelling Wilburrys.

Side Saddle - piano piece by Russ Conway. Never fails to raise my spirits. In fact I like it so much it’s the ring tone on my mobile.

I remember that one Lyn. For me it's the lively rhythms and beat that lift my spirits, as well as the words.

Can I admit to never having seen The Travelling Wilberys? ?? But I certainly enjoyed that! Setting aside Tom Lehrer’s entire repertoire, one song that always makes me smile is Jake Thakrays “La-de-dah”.

Morecambe and Wise singing 'Bring me Sunshine'. DD and DSil had it as they walked down the aisle after their wedding!

Quite by accident and when browsing my Prime music store I came across Billy Cotton and Kathy Cotton singing "Thanks For the Memory".

I have very eclectic musical tastes but this brought me right back to the 1950s and days as a child, sitting in a kitchen armchair next to the wireless, as Mum cooked. I can hear her singing along right now. Billy Cotton's Bandstand was the programme, maybe?

It made me well up and smile.

Doh! Kathy Kay

"louis armstrong .what a wonderful world.."
I was thinking of posting that. In fact anything by louis.
He had that facial expression. I cried when he died.

Fennel Tue 20-Nov-18 17:43:31

We used to listen to them on the wireless too, Day6.

Nymphs and Shepherds, sung by the Luton girls choir always makes me smile.
1) because it reminds me of Children's Favourites on the radio
and 2) because I envisage all those buxom girls in their gym slips. Just as I was then.

For me it would have to be Pink Floyds Bike Song from the album The Piper at the Gates of Dawn

Iv'e got a bike, you can ride it if you like
It's got a basket, a bell that rings
And things to make it look good
I'd give it to you if I could but I borrowed it.............

As the owner of a 'shopping' bike with basket and panniers my friends shout this out when I whizz past! One day on my other one, a MTB, I was doing a tricky downhill and a friend was playing Ride of the Valkyries on her iPhone which had us all in stitches.

Growing old disgracefully grin

You're obviously younger than me GrannyGravy but I can see why you like your first one. Just daft!
Another favourite of mine is Fats Waller, but before the time of most of you.
This one reminds me of when my younger sister was born

Hot Hot Hot is very significant for Husband and I - we only had a “wedding breakfast” (actually a 5 hour lunch with immediate family and a few close friends) we went straight to the airport then flew to the Caribbean and it was our “first dance” ??

We had children first and thought we should marry!!!

lemongrove Wed 21-Nov-18 19:06:17

Happy (Pharrel Williams) is definitely a feelgood song, also
Electric Avenue ( Eddie Grant)
Walking On Sunshine,
Blueberry Hill ( Fats Domino)
smile
