No-one seems to have started a thread so here goes!

Lewis Capaldi is on at the moment, good to see him performing after his health challenges last year. DGD had booked to see him but he cancelled because he was unwell.
He's so much more enjoyable to listen than today's rappers!

I'm looking forward to seeing The Searchers. 🙂

Diane Abbott, imo , is a tedious, self regarding individual whose need to be a centre stage provocateur remains her greatest motivation

I used to like her and admire her for what she achieved but, yes, have to agree.

It’s good to know we agree on so much more than others Anniebach. Life long interest and commitment to the Labour Party alongside scepticism to Corbineesters

Yes Iam, Ruth Smeeth etc, frightening

She’ll do anything to undermine Starmer.

I didn't see it. But did the singer call for the death of the Israeli army committing crimes and genocide in Gaza, and protecting illegal settlers in the West Bank. Or callig for the death of Jews.

Both unacceptable, but a big difference.

How exactly?
Surely it's not acceptable to call for the death of anyone, especially on a stage like that, in front of thousands?
Clearly it is hate speech.
Just as were Lucy Powell's online coments, for which she is in prison.

I couldnt^'t agree more. Surely members of the Knesset, the Israeli Government, should stop calling for the death of all Palestinians, and acting on it. Like Ben Gvir and others.

Were they at Glastonbury too?

Diane Abbott has joined in, posted “. Jewish Defence Forces”

BBC top man was there and did nothing.

Allira Mon 30-Jun-25 22:13:10

Me neither, Maybee.

I honestly don’t understand why they showed those acts on a live screen knowing what they were likely to do. Especially as a lot of acts have a delay on them.

Claremont, Have you seen anyone chanting death to Russia soldiers for their killing of Ukrainian civilians?
No chants demanding the release of hostages.

The BBC has said it was wrong to show that film.

The two men have had their visas withdrawn for a visit to America this year , America doesn’t want them.
A police investigation is taking place, I doubt they will prosecute

You’re right in your comment above.
It is anti semitism with those death to chants and the crowd, sheeple joining in should be ashamed of themselves as should the BBC who knowingly kept on with recording. At a music festival of all places.

All fault cannot lie with one man , if true many Israelis are involved to, are guilty too
If all fault cannot lie with one man what about Putin? Can one man not be responsible for the actions of a nation even if many people in that nation do not agree with them ?

Israel and Russia ! let’s add Netanyahu, Putin , Hitler

I'm confused by what 'anti-Semitism' is, and hoping you lovely people can help me.
On the radio 4 news program, they were discussing the shout of 'kill the IDF' from one of the performers at Glastonbury and representative from the Jewish group said it was ant-Semitic. Surely its anti Israel, but not anti-Semitic?

I share the general concern increasingly expressed by the majority about what this israeli government is doing to Palestinian people.

I haven’t seen demonstrations about other wars in the middle east, against the awful Assad when he was in Syria. Libya, Lebanon, endless brutality against women and children in Africa in Sudan. Yet the demonstrations pro Palestine, anti Israel dominate our headlines. I do not defend Netanyahu or the Settlers, their actions are indefensible. How can it be acceptable for the chants led at Glastonbury , a music festival like the one in October 2024 where innocent people were killed, raped and captured?

Galaxy Mon 30-Jun-25 19:33:31

So obviously music piracy is very wrong. So I can't mention that Neil youngs full Glastonbury set is floating around on Redditwink.

I loved Rod Stewart last evening, his voice got better and stronger after a couple of songs. I thought the various female musicians and singers were really good, and the sax player added to the whole performance. The appearance of Ronnie Wood was a big surprise. The hour and a half went so quickly being transported back in time!
