No-one seems to have started a thread so here goes!

Lewis Capaldi is on at the moment, good to see him performing after his health challenges last year. DGD had booked to see him but he cancelled because he was unwell.
He's so much more enjoyable to listen than today's rappers!

I'm looking forward to seeing The Searchers. 🙂

I think sometimes people confuse sympathy for the ordinary people of Gaza with antisemitism. The majority of the crowd yesterday are probably in the former camp rather than being antisemitic.

They cheered antisemitic speak, this is antisemitism

That argument is purist. We have all been young, and many of us were full of anger at the injustices of the world when we were. Whether it is the right thing to do must seem less material when you are in the moment - how many people used that argument when people were rioting, and are they the same people who are now condemning the actions yesterday?

I don't want the press to hide what was going on.

The press just look for sensationalism. It’s their life blood.

In the UK, inciting racial hatred is a criminal offense under the Public Order Act 1986, as amended. It is illegal to use threatening, abusive, or insulting words or behavior, or to display written material that is intended to stir up racial hatred, or where hatred is likely to be stirred up. This includes distributing racist material, making inflammatory speeches, and creating racist websites. Penalties can include imprisonment

We’ve all been young and done stupid things. I know I have. I guess the crowd just got carried away and probably regret it now.

So sad

Thankfully "the prettiest star", Marc Bolan (also Jewish) who played at the first ever Glastonbury isn't here to see this.

Emily Eavis should be ashamed of herself

Why should Emily be ashamed of herself? She’s put out a statement stating

“A joint Instagram post from Glastonbury Festival and organiser Emily Eavis on Sunday said the event stood "against all forms of war and terrorism", and that with almost 4,000 performances on site "there will inevitably be artists and speakers appearing on our stages whose views we do not share".
"However, we are appalled by the statements made from the West Holts stage by Bob Vylan yesterday," it continued.
"Their chants very much crossed a line and we are urgently reminding everyone involved in the production of the festival that there is no place at Glastonbury for antisemitism, hate speech or incitement to violence."

They only had that publicity because the news media chose to give it to them. The same media that keep telling us that Farage is going to form the next government so it becomes a self fulfilling prophesy.

There are 100 stages and 3,000 performers at Glastonbury. Best not to publicise the two (?) performers who do go against the spirit of the event. Imo The media shouldn’t give them the publicity they wanted.

They had much publicity with the crowds cheering them, it must not be ignored , it’s saying ‘that really isn’t nice ‘

The owners of Glastonbury are shocked

During the performance, Bob Vylan also ranted about a Jewish record company boss for whom he had worked, saying: “Recently a list was released of people trying to stop our mates Kneecap from performing here today. And who do I see on that f---ing list, but that bald-headed c--- I used to f---ing work for.”

Good grief!!

Lewis Capaldi is very talented.
I have never wanted to go to Glastonbury , the festival that is, as it’s my idea of hell.Either a cold muddy hell or a boiling hot more traditional hell😂

I completely agree, it’s sounds horrific!

I too love LC and George Ezra.

Anniebach Sun 29-Jun-25 14:24:06

They were recorded so prosecute them

Shaboozey is wonderful. I’m going to be buying a lot of new music after this weekend. To me Glastonbury is about discovering new bands. This year has excelled itself in the respect. I thought Charli was awful. She was so much better years ago.

Oreo Sun 29-Jun-25 13:49:04

I’m not shocked or surprised.
Anti Israel comments shouting and protesting and also antisemitism have ramped up so much that it’s a fashionable stance to have now.People jump on bandwagons.

Galaxy Sun 29-Jun-25 13:43:23

I have no idea how anyone is shocked, this has been coming for months, it has been terrifying to watch.

Annie I wonder why they were shocked. We were warned about the band and their attitude days ago. It was expected.
They obviously went to the same school as Robbie Williams, he uses the same kind of language.

Some people are still shocked by antisemitism

That was the Irish rappers Kneecap.

Oreo Sun 29-Jun-25 13:35:22

It was incitement to kill by the rappers Bob Vylan, tbh I think it was done purely for financial reasons by them, to make themselves a name.
They preceded those daft Irish boys who seem to yearning for the troubles to return and are just anti establishment really.
So, knowing Kneecap would get a big audience as they’re in the news at the moment, Bob Vylan decided to outdo them and gain approval and notoriety.
The Glasto crowds ( sheep ) duly obliged by chanting enthusiasticly, just as crowd behaviour demands.Remember the ‘oh Jeremy Corbyn’ blissed out chanting? Also remember that he then went on to sink without trace politically.
It’s just a shame that a peaceful event like Glastonbury should contain hate filled rhetoric and chanting.
Especially after what happened at another music festival in Israel.

rafichagran I agree completely!
Tom Odell was so good.
I love his songs - so meaningful - love the lyrics.
To see him play the piano and sing with such passion.
I think he’s probably my favourite this year.
