Glastonbury is and should be about music and people enjoying it, leave your isms at home for a few days.
Should I have been a better person?
No-one seems to have started a thread so here goes!
Lewis Capaldi is on at the moment, good to see him performing after his health challenges last year. DGD had booked to see him but he cancelled because he was unwell.
He's so much more enjoyable to listen than today's rappers!
I'm looking forward to seeing The Searchers. 🙂

It's not possible to separate art from politics but the chants were clearly inflammatory and IMHO anti-semitic. Those responsible should be prosecuted.
Oh no! What on earth are they saying? That's terrible that hate speech is taking place.
Just seen the news, lots of bad stuff happening at Glastonbury this year.
Why can’t these acts ( that I’ve never heard of ) just stick to music & keep their hate speech out of it.
I like Rod the Mod. Still sounds good.
Casdon
I’ve seen Rod, but not at his prime, he was at his best in the sixties and seventies. Since he had a throat operation quite a few years ago his voice isn’t the same, it’s lost the gravel.
First time I saw Rod was at a local dance hall, he was second string to one of the established bands of the day. A little guy jumping around with a funny haircut, must have been 1965/66 ???.
I really enjoyed Tom Odell, he was my favourite so far, his powerful singing, his piano playing and the way he put everything into it was amazing.
I wish I'd watched Neil Young last night as he doesn't seem to be on the iPlayer. I've been a big fan of his since 70s. Pulp were good too. I'm not a Rod🙃 Stewart fan so happy to avoid his set
And Texas were brilliant in 2023.

I'd never heard of Neil Young before last night (not my kind of music at all).
But Jarvis Cocker singing Common People was sooooo good. Made me want to see him live myself.
Have Texas ever done Glastonbury? If they have, I wish they'd come back. I saw them live last September for the first time - an occasion not to be forgotten. Brilliant.
Yes, Texas have played Glastonbury a couple of times - think the last time was 2023. If you go onto YouTube and search for Texas Glastonbury, you'll find some clips there.
I can’t find it this morning either glammagran sadly
We were unable to watch Scissor Sisters on iPlayer. All other stages were working fine. I’ve no idea what the problem was but a message was relayed on the screen saying BBC were working on the problem. Did anyone else experience this?

We have seen him a couple of times - both in his heyday. We also saw him with the Faces - probably a hundred years ago now.

I never really liked Rod Stewart, apart from his days with the Small faces, and a couple of his songs ( you wear it well & the killing of Georgie ) but he’s still extremely popular and I’d definitely go and see him if I was lucky enough to be at Glastonbury ( I’d love to go but wild horses wouldn’t drag DH - he couldn’t think of anything worse 😂 )
What a moment that was at the end of Pulps set with Common people and the Red Arrows flying over. Wow.
Looking forward to seeing Rod tonight.
Talking of no coverage there’s a local band I like from York been at Glastonbury every year for about the last 5 or 6 years and never seen them on TV.
Scissor Sisters were just brilliant!
Maybee70 There are two Wes Anderson films with Frances McDormand in them - The French Dispatch (with Timothée Chalamet in her story) and Moonrise Kingdom. Which one were you thinking of?
Waging Heavy Peace? It was a rambling stream of consciousness. It needed less about cars and train sets and more about the music. Crosby, Stills, Nash were barely mentioned but then the relationship between the four was often problematic.
A rambling book is one of the themes of Wonder Boys. Old Man is well-chosen song for one particular juncture in the film - Michael Douglas’s character Grady Tripp seeing himself in his talented but troubled student James Leer (Tobey Maguire). Tripp is an award winning novelist as well as teacher but is struggling with his second novel. Not blocked - just doesn’t know when to stop writing. 2611 pages and counting …
After the joyful Ezra Collective - (a band close to my heart through Tomorrow’s Warriors) and Neil Young yesterday, today, Nile Rodgers (one of the coolest guys in music) and Chic at 18:00 on the Pyramid Stage and Snow Patrol at the same time on the Other Stage.
Christabel Blackburn’s Hockneyesque commission painting of Nile for Sky Arts Portrait Artist of the Year.
More about Tomorrow’s Warriors here and all the wonderful work this charity does to bring on young jazz musicians.

My daughter who lives nearby got me a Saturday ticket for a significant birthday, it was a dry year thankfully, an experience not to be forgotten, everything is so over the top. How those going for the full festival manage to endure I’ve no idea, my eldest granddaughter goes every year it’s held.
Ive watched several parts so far and will watch todays on TV, Rod Stewart is still popular with the oldies, plus I don’t suppose he gets paid much at Glastonbury, just like the rest of us he’s getting old.
Cracking set by Neil Young, enjoyed every moment, his works from time ago still are applicable today.
Great to see young and old still rocking out to " keep on rocking in a free world"

Neil Young is a legend.
So glad they finished the set with Old Man* and then two cracking political encore tracks, Rockin' in the Free World and Throw Your Hatred Down. Micah Nelson was on fire!
*If you haven't seen it, watch the film Wonder Boys on iPlayer starring Michael Douglas, Tobey Maguire, Robert Downey Jnr and Frances McDormand (based on Michael Chabon's novel). Great soundtrack including Old Man and a lot of Dylan.
Thanks. Some of my favourite actors in that, too. Frances McDormand never makes a bad film. I only realised the other day that she’s is a Wes Anderson film that I’d never heard of. I find it so poignant listening to Old Man as an old person and thinking back to the young me listening to it when old age was a lifetime away. I’ve got Neil Youngs autobiography somewhere. I never got into it; found it a bit boring. But I should give it another go. He does a lot of work for disabled people because of his sons.
Did anyone spot Sir Ian McKellen dancing on stage with the Scissor Sisters? they were great
Scissor Sisters are amazing.
