Following on from the thread about music in the 60s, I thought I'd start one about music from the 70s. I was born in 1955 and went to university in 1973, so I actually came of music age during the 70s. I have so many favourites that I don't even know where to start - and so many songs which bring back memories (sad and happy). Maybe we could post some YouTube links.

OK! So I'll start ...

If - Pink Floyd

Warning: I was a massive Pink Floyd fan, so this probably won't be the last time they get a mention.

I was more a rock chick type.
My favourite albums were
Fleetwood Mac Rumours
Meatloaf Bat out of Hell
Anything by Roxy Music, and Bryan Ferry on his own
I also liked the Eagles, Eric Clapton, Thin Lizzy, T-Rex
From Motown I liked Stevie Wonder, Superstition is still one of my favourite songs.
I love music, I could go on for ever.

"Anything by Roxy Music, and Bryan Ferry on his own"

I have some very happy memories of "Avalon" (which I happen to think is one of the sexiest songs ever wink)

What a fabulous decade of music such a mixture of style. Agree with so many of the choices by GNers
Motown, British Rock, Punk, Yatch Rock ... Disco, cool Jazz. So lucky to have been young and lived through that era.

The 70s my favorite era, so glad i was a teenager.
So many genres of music.
Reggae,Motown,Glam Rock,Disco,Pop
Tracks i liked too many too mention.
Im still into Music.
10 years ago a freind lent me a Northern Soul CD i was hooked, even tho it was popular in the late 70s i missed it.
I even go to northern soul nights, i cant do the dancing, but love to watch.
My northern soul and 70s collection is huge.
Of course David Cassidy was my teen heart throb, my freind loked Donny Osmond.
Saw david at White City Stadium in London. Sadly the concert was where the young girl got crushed and died.
Saw him in 2008.
Will the music of today still be around in 50 plus years time ,i doubt it.
I myself think it was the best music era.

David Bowie - the coolest of cool.

My DH picked up a plectrum Bowie dropped during a gig in 1973 - still has it. If we had to vacate the house in a hurry I wouldn’t be surprised if he saved his guitars and that plectrum and left me to my fate!

I’m loving all that I’m reading, promptin* me to play lynard skinnard on Spotify.
I recently said to a young I who named her daughter Emily how it reminded me of the track by Pink Floyd, See Emily play. Sadly she’d never heard it.
