grumpy you could batch cook some of your favourite meals then freeze into portions sizes and then just get your portion out as needed and OH could have his lighter option.

Thanks for that Notso ! Sounds like a plan..I need the motivation to get going !!!
I really don't fancy forking out just over £100 for 14 days ..My sensible head tells me I could buy an awful lot of 'good' food , fruit, veg etc and get my @@se into gear !!!

I've found that in order to lose weight Grumpy, I have to be a lot more self centred about food and to focus on what I need and want. You're right about the planning too...it's essential if you want to lose weight.
I prepare my evening meal first thing in the morning...veg goes in the fridge in saucepans etc. meat from freezer to defrost. Then what ever happens during the day, I wont have to resort to an easier/quicker/more fattening option for my evening meal.
This will inevitably mean that you are eating different food to your husband, but if all the prep is done, it wont feel such a faff at dinner time.

I had some of these delivered a while back. They are nice meals, but not enough on the plate for me! www.wiltshirefarmfoods.com/

I do like my food!

That's what I was thinking Jangly ..thanks.
I can be quite disciplined when on a diet but I would probably eat more than I should if I made my own meals.
It seems so ridiculous as I know so much about nutrition and have worked for Slimming World, Rosemary Conley and Scottish Slimmers in the past 30 yrs.
I though doing this would get my head in the right place ...and I hate wasting food or money !!!

This all goes back to my childhood where I feel that I almost need to ask permission before doing something new.

To be honest, I don't think there is anything wrong with ready meals, so long as you don't go cheap. I think they can be nourishing so long as you watch the fat in them. I never worry about salt.

It does mean you can have complicated types of meals without all that recipe following. And buying loads of ingredients you probably won't use up.

I've thought about it, but decided the meals are just too low cal! I would never stick to it. I think it would be a good way to do it if you've got the will power. The fact that you've paid for it could be an incentive.

I think you can sign up for just a month to start with.

I really need to lose some weight...but as my husband has completely changed his eating habits and has poor apetite,he cannot decide what he wants to eat until about 6.30 pm I find it very hard to plan meals..and he won't eat meat anymore...often he wants a sandwich or scrambled egg, whereas I used to make a proper dinner every night.

I find that I haven't got the energy or inclination to make a seperate meal for myself so usually have the same as him.

I saw Diet Chef on QVC this morning (TSV) and although I never buy ready meals or take aways (I was a Home Ec teacher and have always cooked fresh)
I wondered if this would be easy for me, even as a start to lose weight.
Anyone tried it ? Any thoughts ?..... I would really have poo pooed this before Phil was ill.
