Well here we are into March, the weeks are flying by.

Good luck to you all.

In spite of having no real exercise for weeks I have managed to lose a few pounds by very STRICT dieting whilst I've been ill. Last time I was confined to bed I put on pounds, so was much more careful this time. Good job I love fresh home-made soup; I've been living on it. smile

greenmossgiel Mon 05-Mar-12 09:41:18

I have more or less stayed the same this week. Think I lost about a quarter of a pound! smile

gracesmum Mon 05-Mar-12 09:48:41

11st 9 which may or may not be up or down on last week!! I can never remember whether I have clothes/PJs on or not but I don't THINK it is up!smile

Carol Mon 05-Mar-12 10:23:58

I've been having lots of soup, too and have lost another 1 lb.

Sbagran Mon 05-Mar-12 10:34:29

Well done you three early-posters - progress is best (albeit frustrating!) when it is slow as (hopefully!) it doesn't go back on if lost slowly.
I am delighted to report another loss this week of a pound and a half (11:11.2) so I am happy with that.
Determination has set in to keep up the three gym/swim visits each week and I am still eating sensibly and going to bed with Paul Mc!!! grin
Good luck everyone and if any of you are currently at the plateau stage when the weight will not budge PLEASE don't give up - I felt like that for many weeks but it is now gradually beginning to drop so hang on in there!
Thank you glass and all those lovely people who kept on encouraging me!

Sbagran Mon 05-Mar-12 10:35:56

Sorry Carol you and I crossed in the 'post' - well done to you too! smile

susiecb Mon 05-Mar-12 11:21:05

Another one and half gone. I stepped up the exercise this week to include only a short walk of three miles but done at a very fast pace on the days when I don't golf. I have a personal goal of losing another 6 lbs before Easter so I can be in the next 'stone' bracket which I will then undoe as I intend to have a Hot X bun and a large Easter egg.

Notsogrand Mon 05-Mar-12 11:29:48

Well done to all our losers! smile

I ate less food and drank less wine last week and had a couple of very energetic gardening sessions. Weight has stayed the same.
I do feel as though there is a bit less of me round the middle though....so maybe the weight loss will show next week.
I started Tai Chi classes in the New Year, and go there every Monday morning after my weekly weigh in. So if I've gained or not lost weight, the classes are very good at promoting a chilled out attitude about everything. smile

But I am starting to wonder if all that positive chi weighs anything?

susiecb Mon 05-Mar-12 11:32:32

Probably I am convinced I weigh more after a bath - I must take on water.

Notsogrand Mon 05-Mar-12 11:39:16

susie grin

Sewsilver Mon 05-Mar-12 12:13:24

Impressive loss from lots of grams, well done. I have put back on 3 of the 7lb I lost when first ill. Still not really up to eating anything but toast and not going out or getting any exercise so not a surprise. Think I need to get better, very sloooow processes it seems , then work on sensible eating.

raggymac Mon 05-Mar-12 12:30:20

A pound put on unfortunately- but I'm not surprised because I have been in 'finishing things up' mode after entertaining and also my DGS made some chocolate cupcakes and brought them on Saturday- could 'nt not have one (or two)
Still. back to being controlled this week. It really helps to hear of everyone else's efforts and to know that I am going to report to you all on a Monday. It's as good as going to WW or SW !

Granb Mon 05-Mar-12 15:01:02

Well......I have absolutely no idea why the scales have STILL not moved. This week I am going to write down everything that passes the lips and hope that sheds some light on it.

Possibly recent stresses may be playing havoc with thyroid levels so will also go to GP for TSH level test.

MaureenM Mon 05-Mar-12 20:27:28

My first time reporting in. I think it will be a good idea for me to weigh in each Monday and hopefully it will help me to keep on track.
So today it was 11st 4 lbs, which is just over a stone less than my heaviest at the same time last year. I have been down to 11st in the Summer, but the few extra pounds crept on over the Winter and I am determined to lose them once again. So 4lbs to lose shouldn't be hard to do, but often can be harder than when there is a lot to lose and your clothes don't fit.

greenmossgiel Mon 05-Mar-12 20:52:20

Welcome MaureenM! That wee extra 4lb will be off before you know it. smile

Lovely feeling last night at SW. When I started this mega weight loss journey three years ago I had so much to lose the idea of a target weight or target member was way out of my league. Last night the Group Leader asked me to set a target as I was surely near what I wanted to be - so now I am 12lbs away from what I want to be and that will be 5 stone less than where I started. If I was asked to give advice which I'm sure I wont be I would say make yourself small realistic targets as stepping stones and have a reward non food goal in mind for each one- a new dress, a manicure something that gives you the comfort you used to get from food. Overall its breaking the bad habits - mine was ice cream with dinner every night, chocolate whenever I fancied it - hourly!, bottle of wine a night and too many lunches out and resturant dinners. Find an eating regime you like and don't go with the fads different regimes suit different people. I have a friend who likes to force her Dukan diet on me suits her doesn't suit me to be permanently constipated and overloaded with red meat as she seems to be.

My arthritis is more manageable , it wont go away but I can cope with it, I play lots of golf, walk as often as I get an opportunity and am in size 14 clothes which was my goal (except for jeans got a bit of work to do there). So for me slow and steady has won the race (almost). Keep on keeping on my friends. xxsmile

jeni Tue 06-Mar-12 10:54:25

May be 1/4 lb down. Perhaps it will work better if I go to kgs?

glassortwo Tue 06-Mar-12 22:35:12

ga home made soup you cant get anything better for you. thanks

green it will show next week keep at it.

grace go with a loss wink

carol well done another 1lb.

sba see sleeping with Paul has paid off wink

susie 1 1/2 fantastic.

notso make sure you are eating enough, it will show next week.

sew when you have been ill and loose weight usually you do gain a little of it back as your body re-adjusts. Get yourself well then tackle your weight.

raggy put it behind you, new day new start.

granb it gives you jolt when you write down everything that goes into your mouth, we pop things in when cooking/putting shopping away etc and dont even notice.

maureen lovely to have you with us, we will get that 4lb off.

susie what a lovely post, I agree set yourself small targets, small steps and it will happen. Dont look at the overall picture just aim for something achievable.

jeni might only be a little but its off smile keep at it.
Sorry I have been a bit slow this week I have not had chance to come and have a peek, sorry if I have missed anyone.

GoldenGran Wed 07-Mar-12 10:04:59

Have just weighed in. Have lost the pound I gained and one more, am tottering on the edge of moving from elevens to tens!

GrannyK Wed 07-Mar-12 20:44:17

Hello ladies,
Haven't been with you for the last three weeks as I have been really ill with flu ( which I now realise is not to be confused with a bad cold- something COMPLETELY different !) The good news is that I now weigh an unbelievable 8st 11lbs / 56 kilos. Except of course it isn't really good news- it isn't a real weight; I look like a 100 year old stringy chicken with a body that definitely isn't mine and no muscle tone ( I wasn't Madonna before, but this is ridiculous ) and I am now going to have to mentally attune myself to putting on some weight without getting too depressed about it. Same position as SEWSIlVER , I think . Will report in weekly and expect you to keep me cheerful please !!!

glassortwo Thu 08-Mar-12 07:48:05

GrannyK people say they have flu but until you experience flu you have no idea how ill you feel and it seems to go on forever. Glad you are feeling better, we are all here and will try our best to cheer you up. flowers

Sewsilver Thu 08-Mar-12 08:40:41

Granny K, glad you beginning to feel better. In retrospect I think mine has also been flu plus chest infection rather than a cold as still not very well after 3 weeks. Can relate to the stringy chicken look. Having finally put clothes on yesterday they all hung sadly off, not a good look. Am back at work tomorrow and can't go in pyjamas. It does seem a bit daunting to have to try to put weight on. Perhaps we can support one another? Thinking of the saying about being careful what you wish for.suspect exercise is going to be needed as well as food. Yuck

greenmossgiel Thu 08-Mar-12 09:30:53

I've managed to get into a size 14 at last. I have cleared the cupboards of larger sizes and bagged them for the charity shop - before I was tempted to keep them 'just in case'! I tried on a new top (well, bought it on Ebay, actually) yesterday. As I pulled it down over my middle, I noticed lumpy creasing which I wasn't able to smooth out....then discovered that the lumpy creasing was my 'middle'! This part of me was always stretched out so didn't 'gather' like old, worn elastic! Oh well, nevermind...! grin

GoldenGran Thu 08-Mar-12 09:35:28

Well done greenmossgiel, it feels lovely to go down a size. I have just sent some skirts to the Red Cross that are too big, and it felt great.
