white well that will certainly get Glass in the mood for her holiday in Cornwall!
bread and jam isn't a comfort food for me i am just a pig - as a child we used to have bread jam and clotted cream for breakfast - wonderful stuff! we are Cornish you understand. Our local beach was Polzeath and we used to get on a charabang (that's not how you spell it is it?) with slatted seats and my Aunt used to make pasties in the morning before we set off and wrap them in a tea towel and they were still warm for our lunch after our first surf - divine! Sometimes we had apple and blackberry pasties depends on the time of year cut them in half and stuff cream into them
Glass have a great holiday and eat scones, jam and cream for all of us! You have done brilliantly and are an example to us all.
grannyH it happens sometimes, dont give up it will show next weigh in
I am off on Saturday morning, but watch your P's and Q's as notso will be keeping an eye on you all
and will put the thread up for Monday. If you cant be good be careful
sba it will show next week, it has happened before keep your chin up.
notso dont worry you have lost a huge amount over this last year, and we have to expect that some weeks you will stay still, dont let it get you down. Well done on your healthy choices for lunch today.
sew it may be for the best not getting weighed at the moment just let things run for the time being. I think the sight of the scales going in the wrong direction makes us depressed and brings the nibbles on, I think I would just try my best to be selective in your choices to try to limit any gain, and keep coming on here and we will try to keep you bouyed up
alison well done, but be careful not to cut down on your intake too much as it can have the reverse effect... when you go back to eating normally you can put it all back on.
white sometimes on our first week if you have been good our body goes into shock and tries to hold onto everything, just keep with it and you will see it on the scales next week. But you seem to have had a difficult week as far as menus go
writing down everything that goes past your lips does open our eyes!
bez you are in for a busy week, but if you dont eat enough you cant loose weight.
green well done you just keep knocking them off, do you think it is because you are not stressing about loosing that its keeps coming off.
butter its coming off, and not having temptation under your nose makes things easier, well done.
white bread and jam used to be my comfort food, when the kids were little I crashed the car into a stationary lamp post and went home and had 3 slices of bread and jam
For everyone

Must be the weather....because I too have stayed the same as last week!
Annoying, because I've walked at least 4 miles most days in the fresh air and if the weather has been rubbish I've pounded the treadmill like a demented don't know what,in the gym!
Never mind, onward and downwards next week!
Good luck everyone!
Glass - that's brilliant! You can go away down to Cornwall feeling reassured that if you put a few pounds on, that you'll get them off easily enough when you come home again!
Lost another pounds that's 12lbs since I started, 2lb short of the stone target I wanted to loose for my holidays ( go away on Saturday) ....... but still I am happy 12lbs off.
I eat almost none of the 'normal' carbs - bread and cakes etc make me bloated and give me tum problems and potatoes tend to give both OH and me problems and yet still difficult to lose weight - I think it must be salad dressings etc although home made. Most of our other food is completely unadulterated except for herbs etc.
I think I shall need to go back to weighing portions as per the GP diet sheet.
I feel I've lost a bit more recently, as my favourite pair of jeans are definitely looser! Still not using scales as I got a bit silly with them - the clothes and mirror tells me all I need to know. I have been making an effort to cut down on carbs, and it is making a difference, and have had a long walk followed by Zumba Gold this morning. Feeling fitter than I have for a while.
Being on a limited income helps because it prevents me from buying too many goodies for the fridge.
bread and jam is my weakness!

One pound for me. Although I'm just 'maintaining' now, so I'll be up and down like a yo-yo, but am hoping I stay steady around the 10st.10lb. Made caramel shortbread yesterday.....and was a bit silly about it, having to keep checking that it was firming-up ok......
.
white I have to make sure there is nothing bad in the fridge or I would eat it, no willpower in the evenings! Bet something comes up as well as the hair appointment, it always does when you think you have an easy week.
We are going to the theatre 3 times this week so the temptation to drink before and in the interval will need to be overcome.
Bez do join us. Encouragement when you lose and understanding when you don't. I think that is what they call a no-brainer.
I too must join the group of staying the same - this week will not be easy either- we have accepted an offer on UK house so travelling back to start shifting stuff - thought of it all makes me want to go back to bed! I don't eat much when we are travelling but nerver lose weight either - will be a hotel meal one evening - then breakfast in the car as we travel through the Tunnel.
alison yes I am retired and life is SO busy but full of lots of lovely stuff and of course the fridge is always to hand. You tend to think that your life is bumping along without anything particular happening until you actually keep a record and blimey! The week after next looks promising nothing except a hair appointment so that should proove to me that I can actually loose weight.
White are you retired? I have found life so sociable since retirement and that is the reason I have put on weight! It was easy to be good when at work and at home but then eat what I wanted when I went out but now we seem to be out all the time!
I think you did well not to put any on after a week like that. Better luck this week.
13 8 Well total failure for my first week - my weight is exactly the same but I know why
Monday - tea and passion fruit cake when i visited my sister
Tuesday - friends to lunch so wine etc
Wednesday - not too bad
Thursday - impromtu lunch out Steak and Kidney Pie!
Friday out to meal to celebrate nephews success in his degree
Saturday - DGS's for weekend so diet goes pear shaped when they are here - Lamb Ragu with lots of cheese and apple crumble and custard - their favourite meal
Sunday - out for lunch
Hope for better things to come! although Hampton Court Flower Show on Wednesday Oh! and Dinner with friends on Tuesday
I've lost 1.4 lbs, not a huge amount when I think about how little I have eaten and DH is concerned I will pass out but my metabolism is so slow due to no thyroid that I think I just have to accept it will be slow. My own fault for putting it all on in the first place! I have now lost 1/2 stone and my first milestone is in sight so I am keeping positive. BMI now 26.16 so still a way to go.
notso & sba staying the same is not so bad when the weather is so awful is it? Right now it is grey outside and I just want to curl up in a ball and snack! I won't have anything 'nice' in the house because I know I would succumb if I did. Oh for some lovely sunny walking/gardening weather.
Glass when are you off on your hols? What will we do without you?
Glass you are helping more than you could possibly realise. Coming on this thread each week makes it a less lonely struggle with the pain and accumulating weight. Your encouragement and seeing how other people are doing is inspiring too.Not able to stand on scales today(now there's a good excuse) so don't know if I've gained. I don't think I'm going to lose whilst this immobile but it would be good if I could stay the same like sbagran and Notso. I agree with you both that the weather doesn't help.
Yes please a couple of lunch recipes would be good, am veggie so tend to eat cheese sandwiches every day because they are easy to prepare, standing and chopping don't work for now. Hope everyone has had a good week.
Good morning everyone!
Like you sbagran I've stayed the same this week. It is frustrating but I'm not too fed-up about it. I've kept the food intake more or less on track apart from a snack pack of Party Rings and about 50g of jelly beans. Nanoseconds of delicious then hours and hours of guilt. Mad.
The weather is a factor though, I'm happy to wrap up when it's cold to go for a daily walk, but not if it's raining.
I'm out for a meal this evening with about 20 people from Tai Chi and have ordered salmon, crayfish & prawn salad. No starter. Step away from the pudding trolley!
Good luck everyone!
Morning glass and all fellow losers!
Disappointed this week as I really tried diet-wise last week and apart from fish and very few chips one evening (when I had eaten virtually nothing all day) was very very disciplined. I was unable to get to the gym/swim except for Sat morning so missed two sessions.
My weight yesterday is exactly the same as last week.
Appreciate staying the same is better than a gain but I only have about a stone left to lose and it is soooooooooooo frustrating!
This week will be good diet-wise again and all being well will get my three gym/swim sessions in.
Just wish it would stop raining - so tempting to accept a lift to and from work rather than walking when it is lashing down.
Good luck to everyone else this week!
July is here but its more like April!!
Its been very quiet on the thread this week, I have had a busy week so have not been around much, hope you have all been good!
Or have you all been hanging out at the Shades of Grey Hair thread
Good luck!
