Did anyone see the Horizon programme last night? I was very impressed with the health benefits shown, as well as the weight loss. I would recommend anybody concerned about their health as they age to watch on iplayer. There are several patterns of 'fasting' that were mentioned. I thought the alternate day one might suit me. You eat 500 calories (600 for men) on the fast day and anything you like on the next, and so on. I have ordered a book from Amazon and I will let you know how I get on! cupcake

Mt Hofmekler seems to have found the secret of eternal youth.

Wow.

Nanadog Mon 12-Nov-12 13:00:39

Where's Mt Hofmekler and why should it be eternally youthful?

Alternately eating and fasting sounds like an interesting concept.

The thought of continually dieting for months on end is difficult and boring. However, to be able to choose some favourite foods for non-fasting days makes this idea do-able.

Might consider after Christmas.

jO5 Mon 12-Nov-12 16:50:26

Yes. That's the trouble. There's always an "after"...........

That's why I don't get thin.

Nanadog Mon 12-Nov-12 16:59:54

My eldest and middle sons swear by the above eating/fasting regime. They have both succeeded in reaching their respective ideal weights. They are chuffed to bits and do tend to go on a bit about how easy peasy it was to stick to the plan. I'm trying a plan of my own. I eat a little less and I ride my exercise bike a whole lot more. One of my tummy tyres appears to be shrinking. I can now see my toes without sucking my breath in and going all dizzy...

Mr N is considering it after Christmas .

Don"t know whether I would , could not bear being hungry . [h smile]

Ana Mon 12-Nov-12 17:13:46

It's the next bit that sounds painful, nanadog! hmm

I slimmed DH down by putting him on a one day on, one day off diet. Worked a treat. Gave him loads of cabbage on the eating less days.

I still try to keep him slightly under-caloried. smile

I have eaten a whole stick of Blackpool rock during this afternoon.

It's hard to fancy anything for dinner after that.

Nanadog Mon 12-Nov-12 17:58:34

Would be a good way to trim the derrière ana
