Will do. Hadn't go the system
What were your dream names for your kids when you were growing up?
Will Replacing School Uniforms With Tracksuits......
Oh how can it be Monday again............. hope you have had a good week. That's me off to my bed
Will do. Hadn't go the system
Hi isthis....you've posted on an earlier diet thread from a couple of weeks ago. Can you copy it over to the Monday 3rd December thread?
GAINED pound and a half this week grrr. I have had a virus for much of the past two weeks so have been very inactive. Eg no swimming sessions. But have been doing exercises in the bathroom every morning first thing and will now have a Slimming World blitz in the next two weeks to Christmas. So - NO cakes and NO alcohol. Watch this space!! Am feeling optimistic that I will get firmly back on course and will acheive weight loss again very soon.
I've started two things
a) I went last week to the Senior Swim at the fine new pool and sports centre near where I live. 9-10am every Friday, £3 (didn't feel well enough this morning to go. Boo) I want to make it routine every Friday. Then maybe add a second day a week. Maybe. Every journey starts with a single step is what the Chinese say. Or in this case, a single length!
b) I've cut down my alcohol intake massively. Maybe stopped 60-70% of it. I wanted to stop totally, go Cold Turkey. But my SW consultant said maybe better to drink say one day a week, ie be more realistic. I had 4 alcohol-free days last week. Maybe 5 next week, or even six. Up till Christmas.
So with those two in place, something should happen in a downwards direction to my weight. Plus of course the SW eating plan. basically lots of fresh fruit and especially fresh veg plus very, very little fat, sugar or processed flour.
Sorry, forgot to post earlier in the week .
As usual I am not adding to your total weight loss- just staying happily the same. Still loving mfp and have introduced my sister and niece to it this week . As they aren't grannies they aren't coming on this thread , but we have befriended each other on the mfp site and I can follow your excellent example glass and be very supportive from a distance in cyberspace.
May take the concept of Christmas Wiggle Room to heart and work a bit harder for the next few weeks ... ( or not ???)
isthis great 1.5lbs well done
This week total 4.3 lb
Challenge to date 41.58lbs
Have lost a pound and a half since last week. Am delighted!
Phoenix and Digby!
notso great maintaining, I know what you mean about wiggle room
have you given any thought that possibly your body is happy with the weight you are after loosing so much. I feel we all have a weight our body is happy with and not necessarily what is reported as the correct weight for our height.
I've stayed the same again this week, but I'm not getting stressy about it because at least I'm not gaining. I'd like to lose a few pounds before Christmas, to give myself a bit of wiggle room over the festivities!
Well done everyone this week.
sba thank you but each and every one of you are your own inspiration... well done.
Ohhhhhhhhh no I forgot digby I can see how sleek he is looking
Sbagran I have relayed your message of encouragement to Digby, but he was in the hall eating a spider at the time, so was a tad distracted.
Does anyone know the calorie content of a large spider? I will take some of the biscuits out of his bowl to compensate. I just get the feeling that he's not really showing much commitment to his weight loss programme at the moment. [sigh emoticon] and his exercise diary makes for very disappointing reading.
Thanks glassortwo and well done everyone so far.
jodi well done, your Aunt was very true.
whenIam as long as you enjoyed yourself that's all that matters.
I have lost 1/2lb would have liked more but had a few meals out and wine so really cant expect anymore than that. But I have now lost 1 stone and 1/2lb since our challenge started.
This week total 2.8 lb
Challenge to date 40.08lbs
movedalot - you've just had a fantastic holiday so no change is brilliant, no willpower understandable, but no time
??? It is time to concentrate now on the last lap before the Christmas amnesty!!!
Thanks for your message Wheniwasyourage but really Glass, all my fellow losers on this thread and MFP have been my inspiration - I am delighted with my latest loss obviously but mustn't get complacent as that has happened before and I have slipped back into my old ways
Wheniwasyourage like Movedalot you had a break - we have to have a break every now and then so don't look back (except for the memories of course!) but aim to lose!
Isn't it great that no-one who has been actively taking part in the challenge has really gained - we don't consider those who have gained recently and are therefore joining is as 'gainers' - you are important 'joiners' and very welcome!
Hey Glass between us we have lost nearly 43lbs which is over three stone (maths isn't my strongpoint!) - if we carry on like this we could lose the equivalent of a whole Gransnetter between us by Christmas
Thank you Glass for being the inspiration for all of us
Go for it Digby and go for it everyone!
Oh dear, it wasn't a good idea to go away for a short break! I've got to admit to having put 1kg back on
. Mind you, the food was very good and so I'll have to try to live on the memories. Well done sba! You're an inspiration!
Have just plonked Digby on to the scales, he seems to have stayed the same as last week. I was able to get a slightly better look though, so perhaps he's firming up a bit?
Thanks ISthis.
No change, no will power, no time!
No change, no will power, no time!
Hi I've lost another 0.5 lbs. I was a bit disappointed that it seems to be coming off so slowly but then I've not really been dieting, more like just being careful. I did start using MFP but would find I'd not been methodical and filled it in for a couple of days.
For me it's not so much what I do ear as what I'm saying 'NO' to. My dear aunt who died a few weeks ago use to say 'little pickets wear bigger knickers' and she was a size 10 all her life and live fit and well until she was 89.
Absolutely correct glassortwo that's exactly what my SW consultant says. She's the most amazing example to everyone. From her photos she seems to have dropped from about 16 stone to a very healthy, not over-skinny, 11 stone. Approx. But I'd guess she's in her early 30's. Easier at that age I reckon
But I'll get there....
isthatall good to have you aboard
, I am also doing SW I have lost a stone this time and find it suits me and I can fit it in with the family, they all eat SW recipes and would not know the difference.
We don't have any rules on the thread, just post when you want and whatever you want....... recipes or how your coping or if you need a shoulder..... entirely up to you, we all follow different plans and all get weighed different days so the thread is open from a Monday until the Sunday evening, I have felt a little complacent having got my stone award last week but I have a challenge to myself that I want to have lost 1.5 stone for Christmas so I think I need to buckle down.
Good advice not to get weighed at home if you are in a club, your weight fluctuates all week so one day if your heavier you could blow it all and fall off the wagon only to find that its not a true reading
Think I might join you
I need to. Am currently going to Slimming World local group (for the second time) but having lost almost a stone have now hit a plateau!
This may nudge me.
Am not sure what the rules are (are there any, except being supportive?) but my Slimming World group meets on Thursdays so I'll post my ups and downs on or around each Thursday.
Two things I'm currently trying are:
1) a brilliant new sports/leisure centre has opened about half a mile from my house. And it's not very expensive. So, on Friday, I nervously went to the Senior Swim session on Friday 9am. £3 concessions pay on the door which I thought was OK. I want it to become routine. There are lots of other swimming sessions and also aqua aerobics and "dry" classes (Pilates, yoga, aerobics, spin etc) at £5 a pop. Or join by the year. But each journey starts with a single step, first I'll see if I can make this Friday 9am swim routine.
2) I've given up alcohol. Well, almost! The Slimming World consultant said "Good idea, well done, but being realistic why don't you give it up 6 days a week, not 100%" which is an excellent suggestion I think. So in the past week, I'd say my alcohol intake has dropped by 75-80%. Let's see if I stick to it. And let's see what happens on those scales!
btw Slimming World says don't weigh yourself at home. Ever. Just do the weekly weigh-in at their session. So I'm trying to do that. With some cheating!
For those that have tried various systems, I found Weight Watchers positively harmful. I lost a stone. Then put on three. Didn't suit me at all. I get on much better with Slimming World. Both are expensive, but Slimming World aren't so insistently trying to flog you their products. And the system suits me better.
Well done pud
Ha ha sba you always give yourself grief and the next week you come up trumps, well done.
granjura I like your thinking but I would just waste all the hard work I had put in already, my will power is not very good with winter comfort food
phoenix your head has to be in the right place. Look forward to digbys weigh in
nono congratulations 2lb and a week of celebrating, Happy Birthday mr S.
jeni never mind, you have been very quiet these last few weeks?
marelli it is a silent creeper, sooner you notice the better, but as you have not been with us on this challenge I wont take you weight into the totals until next week. Welcome back.
This week total 4lb
Challenge to date 41.28lbs
