Well thats it done and dusted, I hope you have all survived the holidays.

I had a weigh in on the 27th December and I had gained 2.5lbs, my next weigh in was Thursday 3rd January and I had lost 2lb so I am still up but just 1/2lb but that's fine it will soon be off.

I picked this up at my weigh in the other day and thought you might like it.

Weight Loss is a journey…..

Weight loss is a journey – tackle it in stages
Some may get there very quick, whilst others may take ages.
Weight loss is a journey, some take the stopping train,
And they get off at the station, and then get back on again.
While other lucky people seem to travel by express,
With no apparent effort, each week they weigh in less.
For some of us the journey, too often seems uphill.
We never seem to get that far, struggle though we will.
Weight loss is a journey –anyone can go
But as you travel on your way there’s something you should know.
Losing weight’s a journey that’s different for everyone,
Some are happy to stroll along while the others need to run.
If you want to complete this journey, then forget about the rest.
Each of you must travel the way that suits you best.
As long as you believe it, you WILL get there some day,
And so what does it matter if you've gone the pretty way?
Weight loss is a journey, that certainly is true.
And each of you must travel in the way that best suits YOU.
You’ll make much better progress if you go at your own pace
‘Cos weight loss is a journey- and never a race.

Hello everyone, smile right for the new ones, I set up the thread ready for Monday and it will be named as this thread but with the relevant Mondays date date.

The thread runs from the Monday thorough until the following Sunday as we all have different weigh days, we all follow our own plan, ie Slimming World, Weight Watchers, low carb, counting calories or whatever suits you.

You dont need to divulge your weight unless you want to, so you would post your loss or gain on as you get weighed.

We are not experts we just support for each other, use the thread to post whatever you like (its good to have input from everyone) post any recipes you have made and found tasty, a meal you may have been out and enjoyed, and any tips that you have come across.

If you are feeling down and just need someone to offload on or if you are feeling on top of the world post it here.

Good luck to everyone.

Do you think we can beat our last challenge by Easter? sunshine

GrannyK; I did exactly the same thing last night [probably why I had awful nightmares last night]. I find, at this time of year it's best to plan the day around eating early and then having an early night, as it's @ 11pm that I get the munchies and, once I start I can't stop.. However I can't do that at the moment as I'm having to clean the house late into the night. When I get one of those binge things late at night I can eat just about anything that isn't screwed down to the floor [crisps are the worst but, thankfully haven't got any in the house; several boxes on chocolate though but, as yet I'm ok with those]. Was so ravenous when I got back from work at midday I ate two bowls of cornflakes because I was too tired to cook anything. In previous years I've found that I don't actually put weight on over Christmas [although I did this year] but continue to overeat throughout January. I have degrees of fedupness. This time last year I was really worried about something to the point of not being able to eat for several weeks [one cheese sandwich a day was all I could face]; however the next stage of fedupness results in me eating constantly and then eating more..because I'm fed up of eating too much. ad infinitum. That's the stage I'm at now. Got to getagrip....

Grannyeggs Tue 08-Jan-13 20:51:54

Please can I come back glass? I weighed myself today and have lost 2 lb this week. I am a stone lighter than I was this time last year, and I would love to be a stone lighter this time next year. I am 11 stone, and five foot two hmm This thread really helped me last year so thank you for doing it againflowers

mrshat Tue 08-Jan-13 17:22:34

Hello glass and dieters - please may I join? I have a stone and a half to get rid of. Currently 13st 5lb (lost 2 lbs last week!). I need to be 12 stone at most but 11st 7lbs would be better! I've been trying and failing for years so I have decided that if I can manage to get rid of half pound a week I should be reasonable by September! Is that an acceptable time scale? I also need to cut down drastically on sugar and sort portion control, increase water/peppermint tea intake and on doctor's advice cut out fizzy drinks and alcohol (except for the odd glass!!!) angry and any spicy food sad.
Are there any rules I should know about if my application to join is accepted!?
grin

baubles Tue 08-Jan-13 17:04:32

Hi glass may I join please? I've 1.5 stones to lose sad

So how does this thread work?

glassortwo Tue 08-Jan-13 16:32:29

January is a terrible month grey and miserable, without it following on from one of the busiest times of the year. Its so easy to beat yourself up for being tempted with all the goodies that are lying around, but if they have to be eaten you might as well get them out of the way once and for all and be done with it.

Cheer up its not the end of the world. smile smile smile

If you have any sweeties lying around that a unopened why not drop them into your local hospice, I am sure they will get eaten there and save you all the guilt after the event.

Movedalot Tue 08-Jan-13 15:45:14

When I think you may be right, it would be cruel of me to make DH eat all the goodies which he bought me as he is trying to lose weight and takes meds for his high BP. Think I'll have to help him out

Sbagran Tue 08-Jan-13 15:40:54

flowers GrannyK - as Moved said we have all been there!
Again for a totally inexplicable reason I have just pigged out on extra biscuits!
Why?
Who knows? - am just feeling a bit low this afternoon and pigged out hmm Doesn't help that DH is in one of his silent/no speakie moods but that is no excuse as he didn't put the biscuits into my mouth - I did!
I really believe the January blues hit us all - November and December are always manic and then we crash!
We will ALL be ok - we WILL get through - tomorrow is another day so GrannyK and I will start again tomorrow!

glassortwo Tue 08-Jan-13 11:18:57

Its a New Year new start you will all be fine.

Movedalot Tue 08-Jan-13 11:04:33

GrannyK I have done the same thing at times but it sounds as if you have woken up contrite and will probably be much more virtuous as a result. Stop beating yourself up.

Weighed this morning, didn't like it. Going away for 2 days to manage builders at DS's house so will be bored and eating whatever they leave out for us.

DS's girlfriend is coming to celebrate her birthday this weekend and has asked for beef borg plus dumplings and eton mess for dinner so no promises until next week. Hopefully by then I will be well and back on track.

GrannyK Tue 08-Jan-13 10:06:23

Really really fed up

Was very good all over Christmas and New Year ( without being a killjoy obviously !) and was about the same weight at the end of the holiday as I had been at the start . Was delighted when I weighed on Jan 2
BUT
for long and complicated reasons went into self destruct mode last night and managed to put an extra 1600 calories away in less than an hour. Hopeless when you are supposed to be on 1200 to lose weight . Haven't had an evening like that in years . Just entered them on mfp to give myself the illusion of control over the ridiculous situation and am posting here for the same reason .
Refuse to do the usual Tuesday weigh in - would be even more depressed about it. Feeling rather sick, not surprisingly .

Bother bother bother .........angry

Nanado Tue 08-Jan-13 07:16:51

Love the poem glass I'm going to rejoin your weight loss group please. I lost quite a bit before Christmas so sort of opted out, but have decided I really get rid of this last 7lbs before summer ...

Wheniwasyourage Tue 08-Jan-13 05:08:50

Hallo again, everyone! Oh dear, 65.6kg. Back to the exercise again, but I'm still going to finish my share of the Christmas chocolates as it wouldn't be healthy for DH to eat them all.

Sbagran Mon 07-Jan-13 16:38:16

Wow! So many of you have done so well and not put much on over Christmas and new year and so many of you have then gone on and lost the festive gain envyenvyenvy
As DH was working all over Christmas I was with DD and family - lovely time but lots of naughties, and naughties in the Christmas presents sack as well (Why do folks do that - sounds ungrateful but why do those who don't know what to get you insist on chocs or biscuits?) Bedsocks! Writing paper! Flowers! Smellies! - anything but calorie-filled gifts!!! grin
Then to make up for DH working over Christmas, we went away for a new year short break - half board - so again ate more than I would normally eat in a day.
The result of all this was a gain of nearly 6lbs sad - no even more sad than that!!! Gone up from 152.4lbs to 158.2lbs so work is now needed. Can't even mark it on my weightchart as it is off the top of the sheet - nearly reaching the kitchen ceiling!
It is a new era so off we all go and let's all encourage each other! Isn't it good to have new losers as well - welcome Riverwalkand any others who join us, get well really soon Grumpy-movedalot!!! flowers - and good luck to us all!

Marelli Mon 07-Jan-13 14:43:24

As glass knows, I have eaten an awful lot of Christmas cake over the last couple of weeks. I have eaten two thirds of a whole cake all by myself blush. I am no longer kidding myself that the cheapie scales I bought during the summer are actually telling me the truth. I bought new digital ones this morning shock.....hence I now know I need to lose half a stone. Onward and upward!

glassortwo Mon 07-Jan-13 14:31:59

crimson its a vicious circle isnt it, sometimes you cant sleep at night so you have to get some through the day and then you cant sleep again, its terrible trying to get the balance. I know you feel shattered but sometimes a little gentle exercise can help and give you more energy (said me who avoids exercise at all costs if she can grin ) but you have to do whats best for you. I hope you feel better once you have had a sleep.

crimson Mon 07-Jan-13 14:28:11

66kg on the scales at work this morning; I'll continue to use those as they are recalibrated on a regular basis. The weight has piled on over Christmas and I've no desire to go out into the cold and get any exercise. Had a cheese sandwich when I got home today [I was trying to cut out bread again but was too tired to cook anything]. My joints are really painful; same thing happened last year. Not sure if it's the cold weather, lack of exercise or overloading my system with junk fod [combination of all three?]. Should go for a walk now but going to get some sleep [slept badly last night].

janeainsworth Mon 07-Jan-13 14:03:45

Thanks Glass grin

glassortwo Mon 07-Jan-13 14:00:12

Of course you can Jane , the water also helps to keep things moving grin bet it was lovely on Hadrians wall yesterday.

janeainsworth Mon 07-Jan-13 13:58:20

Please can I join in?
I had a body composition analysis done recently and I am 38% fat which is borderline unhealthy shock
I had lost 3kg during 2012 and need to lose another 3, to get to 62kg .
I was 65.3 this morning.
Agree with Mollie that drinking lots of water helps, especially with meals.
I am trying to lose weight by reducing sugar intake, portion control and more exercise.
Walked 5 miles along Hadrian's Wall yesterday.

jeni Mon 07-Jan-13 13:21:34

Thanks. Now down to the dieting!

glassortwo Mon 07-Jan-13 13:05:57

Well it was worth then jeni how boring would it be if we could not get away on holiday and just have what you want. Good to see you back smile

jeni Mon 07-Jan-13 13:03:25
